Chapter Text
“I lied. For your sake, and for hers. I thought she’d be fine or she’d go quick. How the frak was I supposed to know it’d turn into all of this?”
“She must’ve been confused,” Bill answers too quickly, his mind is spinning out, searching for rationalizations.
“No, Bill,” Saul says, shaking his head. “She knew who I was. I could see it in her eyes. And frak. The way she was looking at my sidearm, like it was the most beautiful thing she’d ever seen…” A haunted look crosses Saul’s face and in that terrible moment, Bill knows he isn’t lying. “She wouldn’t want this. And yes, I do know that for a fact.”
Bill stares at him for long moments. He feels the side of his nose twitch and hands ball into fists. “Get out,” he sneers.
“Go down to sick bay,” Saul dares him, “go down there and look at her and then look in the frakkin’ mirror and tell yourself she’s gonna thank you for this. Tell yourself she’s gonna just wake up and be fine with all of it. Wake the frak up, Bill. She’s not gonna wake up the same woman you remember catting around with on New Caprica.”
It's unsporting to throw a punch at a man’s blind side, but as his knuckles crack against Saul’s jaw, he finds that he doesn’t care that much.
