(just kidding this is fantastic and i’m still in shock that i could in anyway contribute to this majestic piece of art, literally the greatest achievement of my life. i have never read romance this tender, i think reading this made me like 5 times gayer. I lowkey died when Cloud Goddess gave Murasaki her silk scarf THE SYMBOLISM AHH)
Seriously, you get all the dialogue so spot on that I would believe you if you said you were secretly a show writer

Thanks for the comment that you left! You should give yourself more credit though, it was a really neat idea. I never would have thought about making Murasaki’s poetry be like Jammin Ninja’s music powers, and just, the inherent romanticism of expressing vulnerable emotions through art, plus magic! I couldn’t not write it.
I’m glad you liked the dialogue though, it was a struggle. Unfortunately, I don’t think Global Studios hires 25yo computer science geeks to be their writers, but would be cool though

lol i mean you couldn’t be worse than some of the actual show writers (*cough* sal manella *cough*). actually, my greatest apologies for comparing you to the show writers, your characterization is way better. have you seen the travesty that is the season finale yet? i fully expect an angry phone call from my irl ss friend ranting about all its faults any day now

And yeah I have seen that last episode. It’s weird because I can’t put my finger on why it sucked so much? Like the whole thing about Cloud supporting the Daimyo’s refusal to pardon the rebels seemed kind of out of place with where I thought her character arc was going, but I couldn’t explain more than that... That episode just felt off

Thank you for the question. I have been giving this topic a lot of thought in the past week with the disaster that was the season finale.
First of all, I have to say that even though the original Steel Samurai series was less overt about the conflicts between duty, authority, and justice than Cloud Goddess, it was far more complex than the simple black and white issues it is often characterized as having, particularly in the later episodes.
However, you would be correct to say that Cloud as a character struggles more with these issues than the Steel Samurai does. With the Steel Samurai, much of the moral complexities focused less on the main character’s own views, while Cloud’s views are constantly challenged in-show. Unfortunately, the show does appears to have little idea which message it wants to convey, leading to an extremely inconsistent characterization, as exemplified by the season finale.

so obviously if ss and pp adopted murasaki, that would mean she and Cloud meet way sooner than canon
but i don’t know if i want to go more of a friends-to-lovers thing or if they should still have that rivalry in the beginning
also that makes iron infant murasaki’s brother, which has so much potential comedy (and family bonding!) but i can’t think of any scene set ups to show that

okay friends to lovers probably does make more sense, but IMAGINE THE DRAMA of Cloud and Murasaki just not clicking but being forced to get along in front of ss and pp anyway. then eventually they start liking each other more and start trusting each other as they save each other’s lives and stuff

For personal reasons, I will not give any details about my real life on this blog. This is meant strictly for the purpose of writing about my opinions on the Steel Samurai franchise, and I don’t want to be associated with it in my real life.
As for your implied second question, I simply do a lot of research and read many relevant books, completely unrelated to my work. Steel Samurai is one of the great interests in my life, and even before I had this blog, I frequently read and thought about it for my own amusement.
