Chapter 1: What's Be More Chill?

Chapter Text

"Micha, come on! We're gonna be late!" Jeremy yelled from the living room of his boyfriends house. Him, Michael, and the others are going to the movies today. They've been planning this for quite a while. They can't remember the last time they all hung out as a group and not like just three of them or something.

Surprisingly, it's not awkward at all for Jeremy and Christine to hang out together, considering they're ex's. You see, they dated for around a month after the SQUIP incident before they mutually broke up as Christine realised she was Aromantic Asexual and Jeremy realised he was Bisexual and in love with Michael. Since then, they've been best friends. Christine recently told them she realised she's Agender.

Anyway...

Jeremy confessed to Michael about two weeks later, with the help of the rest of them, and Michael confessed he felt the same way, and now they've been dating for nearly a month.

But, they haven't said their first 'i love you' to each other yet. So today at the movies, Jeremy is planning to say it. He told the group beforehand and they all agreed to help him and calm his nerves.

Brooke and Chloe have been together for around two months and they are as lovey dovey as ever. Rich and Jake have been together for around the same time as Boyf Riends but have already said their first 'i love you' to each other.

Christine and Jenna are the only two of the group that aren't dating. They both don't have crushes and everyone is cool with it and are just glad that they're happy.

"Yeah yeah Jer, I'm coming!" Michael yelled back, walking down the stairs.

Jeremy had come over to his boyfriends house to pick him up, only to be met with a panting Michael trying to get ready faster. Jeremy chuckled at the memories from a couple minutes ago.

The smallest of the two stumbled down the stairs and into Jeremy, blushing widely. Jeremy smiled and helped him up.

"Come on, let's go! Everyone told me that they're already there, dork!" Jeremy said, pulling Michael to the door.

The said dork huffed in annoyance and replied quietly, "I'm not a dork."

Jeremy still heard it. He looked back and smirked, "You're my dork!" Michael let out a squeak and blushed widely. The Filipino pushed Jeremy out the door, following right after.

Brooke tapped her foot on the ground repeatedly, getting annoyed. "They should be here by now!" She growled.

Chloe came over and put a hand on her shoulder, "Babe, calm down, they might just be stuck in traffic." She said quietly, looking around. No one wants to see an angry Brooke now, do they?

A few minutes later, they heard a screech followed by a loud crash. The group turned around and saw that Jeremy's car had knocked over a bin, the rubbish spilling everywhere.

The car backed up into a parking space. The duo made their way out of the car laughing.

"Dude, that was awesome. We have to do that again!" Michael laughed out.

Jeremy laughed and grabbed Michael's hand, interlacing their fingers, "Yeah! Let's do that on our way back to my trash can!" He managed to say.

The boys caught Brooke's glare and gulped. Jeremy leaned down to Michael's ear and whispered, "Looks like someone's on their period~" Michael blushed 'cause of the closeness but laughed at what the taller boy had said.

The blonde haired girl stomped over to the two boys, ignoring Chloe's calls for her.

Michael laughed awkwardly. He jumped behind Jeremy and pushed him forward, "IT WAS JEREMY'S FAULT! He was the one who wanted to stop at Seven Eleven on the way here!" he yelled out, trying to suppress his laughter.

Brooke stopped in her tracks and glared harder, if that's possible, at Jeremy.

"What?" Jeremy looked down at Michael with a look of disbelief and betrayal, "Michael!"

Michael giggled and pushed his face into Jeremy's back, wrapping his arms around his waist. Said boy just laughed and grabbed Michael's hands.

Brooke rolled her eyes but decided to just forgot about it as it's not really that much of a big deal. She felt a hand grab hers. She turned around to see her girlfriend. "Brookie," Chloe said, making said girl blush at the pet name, "let's go, okay? It's about to start." She finished.

Brooke nodded and interlaced her fingers with the brunettes. Rich and Jake practically ignored the whole drama scene and were just flirting with each other the whole time.

Jenna was on her knees, crying by the bin that Jeremy's car had knocked over. She was mumbling, "No, my family!" to herself and Christine just watched her, a small smile on their face.

The group of friends walked into the cinema and bought their tickets. When they walked into Screen 6, which was where the movie was playing, they noticed two things. 1. No one was there. Like at all. And 2. The room was entirely empty except four comfy looking love seats, and a yellow beanbag behind them, on higher ground. The only source of lighting was from the screen, which was just plain white.

"What? Is thith the right movie?" Rich asked, looking around for anyone, just one other person, but all he could make out was his friends.

Michael looked up from checking his ticket. "The ticket says screen six. I'll go check we're in the right one." He walked to the door. Seconds later he came back cursing under his breath.

"Guys, the doors are locked." He informed everyone and they started to get creeped out.

"You sure, mahal?" Jeremy asked and Michael looked at him and nodded.

There was a sudden gasp. Everyone's heads snapped to the sound but saw nothing.

"Chloe, I'm getting scared." Brooke said quietly, latching to her lovers arm. Michael hugged Jeremy as he was also pretty scared. Rich wouldn't let Jake hug him as he apparently wasn't scared. Jenna and Christine just looked at each other.

Rich eventually gave in and let his boyfriend hold him.

"Omg! You're actually here!" Came a voice that sounded feminine.

The teens all shrieked and looked around frantically. "W-who said that!?" Jenna practically yelled.

"Me obviously."

Wait...

The voice came from behind them.

Everyone screamed and turned around to be met with someone who looked the same age as them and had the biggest smile on their face.

"Why are you yelling?" They said, raising their eyebrows.

The teens stopped.

"Wait! Um girl, I mean, um lady? No women-" Jake had trouble of what to call them until they cut him off.

"Just call me human or some shit."

"Okay human, what happened to the room?" Jake asked, making the person pull a surprised face.

"Oh! Forgot about that..." They awkwardly chuckled, "Well, if you wanna know-" the person stopped mid sentence when something, more like someone, caught their eye.

Jake sighed in relief and was about to ask them again but was cut off by a squeal.

Christine, who raised their eyebrows at the random human, was suddenly attacked by a hug. They awkwardly hugged back.

Everyone was just looking at the scene, confused on why they were excited over seeing Christine.

Christine pulled out of the hug and was about to ask a question when, "Christine! I love you!" the stranger said. Christine was shocked. The person stepped back a bit, "Sorry, big fan."

Christine was confused. "You've seen me in one of the schools plays?" They asked. Why else would a person they just met be in love with them.

The person shook their head. "I'll explain in a min."

They then looked around the room making sure a certain someone isn't here.

They held their fist out at Michael for some reason, who laughed and gave them a fistbump, making them smile.

They looked and saw that Jeremy had a look of...jealousy? In his eyes. "Ohhhh" they thought to them self, "of course."

They immediately stopped laughing with the Filipino and held their hands up.

"Hey hey!" They said, "Just the life of a fan. I love all of you."

"I'm guething Chrithtine the motht." Rich said, raising his eyebrow. They laughed and nodded.

"Even me?" Jenna whispered.

"Yes. Even you Jenna."

"Anyway, he's all yours Jeremy, so calm your ass down." They finished with a chuckle, walking away.

Jeremy nodded and wrapped his arms around Michael from behind, resting his head on said boy's shoulder, making Michael blush but smile and hold Jeremy's arms.

The person turned around after they walked a few feet away. "I should probably tell you my name I guess." The others nodded. "My name is Jade. I'm seventeen if any of you were wondering."

"Thame ath uth!" Rich said.

"Yep! But unlike y'all, I'm in College and not in the hell hole you call high school."

Brooke pulled out of Chloe's grasp, "Lucky!"

Jade laughed, "I know!"

Everyone just nodded, not knowing what to say.

"Oh!" Chloe piped up, "do you know what the hell happened to this room?"

"Oh!" Jade said in realisation, "Was gonna tell you but got distracted!" They laughed and walked to over to the chairs, the others following. "I'll explain once you're all seated." They smiled.

"Why are you behind us?" Michael asked, laughing slightly. Jade just shrugged as they walked up the steps to their beanbag.

They sat down, "I can keep an eye on all of you."

"Fair." He replied.

Jade grabbed the remote from the floor and waited for the other teens to get seated. They watched in amusement as RichJake argued over which side they were sitting. Chloe rolled her eyes and pushed Jake down followed by Rich and then went to join her girlfriend on theirs. Jade laughed, "Good one!"

Chloe just laughed while Rich grumbled before his tall boyfriend wrapped his arm around his shoulders, making him smile.

"Ready?" They said, waving the remote.

"One sec!" Came a voice. Jade has no idea who said it. "Ready!" Came the same voice.

Chloe turned to Jade. "Explanation first." She said, crossing her arms.

"Ok so," they stopped and laughed at them self for the reference to The Smartphone Hour, "As you can see, this is not a normal cinema room. But you did enter the right screen?" They said, a confused tone in their voice. "Anyway, instead of watching Jumanji, which is an amazing movie by the way, you're gonna be watching Be More Chill!" They finished.

They looked at Jade and each other confused. Brooke raised her hand and Chloe awed at how cute it was. "Yeah Brooke?" Jade said and Brooke was confused at how they knew her name.

"I'm probably speaking for everyone here, but what's Be More Chill?" She asked.

"Oh! It's a musical not a movie. Probably should of said that earlier." Christine's eyes lit up at the mention of the word.

"Heere's the catch," They said laughing at Jeremy's frown.

"Funny!" He sarcastically said.

"It's a musical starring y'all!" They finished.

"WHAT?" Christine yelled.

"Woah, Christine, calm down!"

Christine sheepishly smiled.

"Are we actually in a musical?" They asked excitedly.

Jade nodded. "You're watching the bootleg unfortunately. Not live."

Christine shrugged, "Fair! Tickets are expensive as hell!"

"Tissues and blankets are up here if you need them." Jade explained. "And trust me, you will. I'm gonna need them for Michael in the Bathroom, my god!"

Micheal froze. "How do they know about that?"

Jeremy noticed. "You okay, Micha?"

Said boy smiled up at him, "Yeah."

Jeremy smiled back in return. "Why are you showing us this?" He asked.

Jade smiled, a tub of popcorn and a slushie in their hands, "Because I can!" They grabbed the remote. "Oh yeah, drinks and food are up here as well!" As they said that, everyone ran up the stairs, grabbing food and drinks.

Jade laughed at them.

"Wait a sec, Jade?" Christine started and Jade hummed in acknowledgement, "I was just wondering, since you told Jake to call you human, are you gender neutral or something?" Said boy nodded in agreement.

Jade held their hand up as they were chewing. Christine smiled and chuckled. They swallowed then took a sip of their drink. "Sorry!" They sheepishly smiled.

"It's fine." Christine said.

"Yeah, I'm Agender." They said smiling.

"Oh! Me too!" Christine said in reply.

"Cool!" Jade said, smiling even wider.

"Yeaaa, call me anything really as long as it's not girly." Jade said, laughing.

The others nodded.

"Anyway, let's get started!" And with that, Jade pressed a button on their remote and the plain white screen changed to the words "Be More Chill."

Jeremy shivered when he saw the words, reminding him of a certain someone.

"You wi-i-i-i-i-ill be more chill."

Jade noticed Jeremy shiver. "Don't worry Jer, he won't be here. I don't like the floppy disk either."

There was a knock at the door. "I thought you thaid he wathn't gonna be here?!" Rich shouted.

"Relax Richard, it's my bestfriend." They said.

"Oh..." the short boy said, going back to his popcorn.

"Coming!" Jade ran to the door, a smile on their face.

The others looked at each other confused but shrugged.

A few minutes later, they came back and someone was behind them. They stepped out of the way to reveal their previously mentioned bestfriend.

Said person waved, red beanbag in their arms. "Meet Issie. My bestfriend." Issie gasped when she seen Jenna. Jenna just waved.

"She can keep an eye on all of us as she's older." Jade laughed. Issie let out an offended gasp.

"How old are you like?" Jake asked.

"Nineteen." Came the reply.

"An adult!" Michael joked.

"I know right!" Jade said getting a whack on the arm off Issie.

"Give us a couple minutes while she gets set up." Jade said, smiling. Issie walked up the stairs and placed her beanbag next to Jade's, before grabbing a hotdog and a drink of coke.

She sat down. "You explained they're in a musical yet?" She asked.

"Yep!" Jade replied popping the 'p'.

"Awe, I wanted to say that and they'd freak out or something." Jade just stuck their tongue out at her, Issie does the same.

Rich walked past them. "Jutht getting more popcorn."

Issie awed at his lisp.

A few minutes later, everyone was settled and ready to watch.

All of a sudden, Jade let out an awkward laugh, "Batteries ran out." Issie sighed, grabbed the remote, and walked into the room behind them.

The others looked up at them and Jade just waved.

They shrugged and went back to their private conversations.

Jade laid down and puffed their fringe out their face.

Jenna and Christine were playing games on Jenna's phone. ArsonBros were flirting, like usual. Pinkberry were talking while sharing popcorn.

Michael hummed to himself as he ate his popcorn, slapping Jeremy's hand away when it came near the tub. "You have your own Jeremiah!" Jeremy just laughed.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Okay, y'all ready!?" Jade said excitedly as Issie came back with the remote. They got positive answers from the others.

They pressed a button and the screen showed a boy sat at a desk on a stage. "This is 'Jeremy's Theme' right now but right after is ' More Than Survive' which is when it starts."

"Who the hell wants to survive more?" Michael asked.

Jeremy raised his hand and Michael chuckled.

"Just putting it out there, Jeremy you're the main character love." Issie said.

"WHAT?!" Said boy yelled. "Why me? Why not Ri-"

"Jeremy...shut up."

"...okay..."

"Also the screen will pause automatically if anyone talks loudly enough so don't worry about missing anything." Jade explains.

"Oh, and there's a back room up here if you need it!" Issie adds on.

Jade nods, "Now! On with the show!"
