Izuku shifted side to side nervously. The student was waiting in the teachers lounge, dorms had just been put in place and All Might had called his successor for a talk. The Hero was staring at Izuku from across the table.
He cleared his throat “Young Midoriya, I learned something very interesting while helping Nedzu and Aizawa with the dorms.” He paused, the older man had a look of badly disguised contempt “My boy, why were you placed on the girls’ side of the dorms. I tried to help you and change you over but Nedzu refused.” The man explained.
Izuku’s hands fidgeted nervously. “Um, I’ve actu- actually been meaning to talk to you ab-about that.” There was an anxious inhale “I’m a girl. I’m transgender. I told Principal Nedzu and Aizawa-Sensei. I was planning on telling everyone soon before we move into the dorms. I’m sorry I never told you sooner I really should have honestly, I just didn’t know how and-” She was cut off
“ My boy .” All Might said sternly, ignoring Izukus flinch “Don’t be foolish. I never pegged you to be such a pervert. What, are you trying to help Mineta?” He scowled “Enough with this ‘I’m a girl’ foolishness.”
Izuku teared up and looked shamefully at her lap. “It’s not foolishness! I’m a girl. Not ‘your boy’ or anything! And I would never help Mineta. I’m not a pervert.” She all but growled at the skinny man radiating hatred.
All Might sighed disappointedly. “ My boy .” He said in a condescending tone “You can’t be a girl. Your birth certificate says male, and you don’t have the correct-” A pause to cough “-assets. And besides; a trap can’t be a hero. And with that said, if you truly say you are a girl, you must give my quirk away.” He said with a tone of finality before standing and walking to the door. However before he opened the door he paused and turned to face the horror-stricken student “So, young man , what will it be? Be a man and be the number one hero? Or be a quirkless, useless tranny?” He said before walking out, closing the door.
Izuku sat on the couch, tears dripping from her eyes. She had thought All Might would take it much better. Although she didn’t know why she's surprised, he had told her she couldn't be a hero. She gripped her hands tightly, nails digging into the top of her hands. The world was spinning and she couldn't focus. Everything was so loud, yet so quiet at the same time. What should she do? Be a false hero and live with regret for the rest of her life? Or go back to being a worthless Deku who has no future prospects except to die and make everyone's life better. She couldn't breathe. Why couldn't she breathe? Where did her air go? What was that sound, why is it getting closer, where did the lights go? What’s next to her? She couldn't turn her head, she could only stare ahead and sob quietly and stiffen at the soft touch on her shoulder. Who is that? Is All Might back? No, he wouldn't be nice. Who. Who. Who. Who Who Who Who Who Who Who-- Aizawa-Sensei! What is he saying? Breathe. But she can't, she can't breathe! Yes you can kid, try slowly. It is a little easier but still so, so hard. Maybe she should just go ahead and stop breathing no one would- Please don't stop breathing, I’d miss you. Your class would miss you. She sniffled and eventually she was somewhat aware. Aware enough to choke on another loud sob and launch herself into her tired teacher's arms, burying her head in his capture weapon. His arms floundered for a moment before he rubbed his student back.
Soon, she was calm, only sniffilling every now and then “Problem child, do you think you could tell me what happened? Do you need me to get All Might?”
At the question Izuku shot up “No! No All Might!” She said loudly, wincing at her volume “Um. Please don’t get All Might.” She said in a much quieter tone
“Alright, I won’t get him. Could you tell me what triggered your panic attack? You don’t even have to give me a detailed response. I’d just like to know why.”
Izuku shifted “Um, I uh.” She paused “I told All Might why I'm on the girls’ side of the dorms. He uh, he didn't take it too well.” She muttered, however it seemed that now that she had started, she couldn't stop “And he told me I wasn't a girl, that i’m a trap. He said I either stop faking and be the number one hero or give his quirk away to some-” She was interrupted by Aizawa.
“What do you mean give his quirk away? He lost all use of it at Kamino Ward.” He stated confusedly.
“Oh. I thought you knew. Um. He gave his quirk to me. Around ten months before the entrance exam he chose me as his successor and began training me and such at Dagbough Beach, it was the trash beach, and he had me on this special diet so I could inherit his quirk One for All. It’s a quirk that stockholders the previous users' quirks as well and can be passed down to different people and stuff. But he said I have to give it away cause I.” She wiped at her eyes “Cause I can’t have his quirk anymore um, cause I’m trans.” She trailed off looking at her lap. Even if she knew Aizawa already knew he had to, for her to be put into the girls' dorms.
Aizawa frowned. “Oh.” He said, fuming “Midoriya, you do know it’s not his quirk. It’s yours. It was yours the moment he gave it to you or however he had you do that. It sounds like all he had were the embers. But you are in control of your quirk. Not him. He has no say in what you do.” He said sternly
Izuku nodded “Um. Okay.” I sounded like she didn't fully believe what he said. “Thank you sensei. I’m sorry for being such a hassle.” She muttered
“Kid, you'll never be a hassle, no matter how many nicknames I throw at you. Now, are you ready to head back to the dorms?” At Izuku's nod of confirmation they made their way to the dorms. “I’m in the process of expelling Mineta, so he won’t even be near the dorms. Do you feel safe to come out tonight? If not, we can wait.”
“No Sensei! It’s okay! I’m ready. Plus, I kinda wanna get it out of the way y’know?” She said, rubbing the back of her neck as they approached the large doors. They both could hear the class. However, the moment they walked in they quieted down, Eijiro giving a smile to his girlfriend, only him and Kacchan knew.
“Mineta is in the process of being expelled. You won’t see him in this school again.” He paused at the class's cheers, hiding his amusement behind his scarf. “Now listen, Midoriya has something important to say.”
Midoriya inhaled and looked at her feet, not noticing Kaccan and Eijiro keeping an eye on the people around the room, preparing to smite those who have a negative reaction “Um. I’m a girl.” She said “I use she/her pronouns. I still use the name Izuku.”
The class was frozen in shock, but soon they bursted out with encouragement and pride for trusting them.
Izuku ended the day in her dorm, curled up with Eijiro, and even if she was still anxious about One for All, she knew she had people who love and accept her.
