Like any angry eleven-year-old would do, Buck stalked off in protest to the garage that night, grabbed his bike, and made a run for it. He didn’t know where he was going. Like a faulty pair of windshield wipers, his eyelashes did little to fight against the tears stinging his eyes and his legs felt weighed down by anvils with every furious pedal uphill.
His heart made its way to his throat and just as he saw over the hill, the invisible anvils dropped off, and, before he knew it, he was falling.
Not just to the ground, but through the ground.
