Summary
Five years into an abusive relationship that's gone from bad to worse, Jaime is desperate for any means of escape. Aerys Targaryen has the sort of money and power that could find him anywhere. If he were Cersei, he would be safe there—if he were Cersei, he wouldn’t be in this hopeless situation. But Jaime closes his eyes and imagines it anyway. They’d welcome him and help him escape Aerys’ clutches. He has no money, no property of his own. Even his degree at university is contingent on Aerys’ whim and coin. His hopeless plight is the same as theirs. As he is now, though, he’d be chased right back off. Would anyone even pause long enough to listen to him?
