Tick, tick, tick, the sharp consistent ticking of the clock fills Tomura’s head as he sits in the makeshift waiting room awaiting the news on Dabi and their unborn daughter.
Tick, tick, tick, the clock continues its ticking, each tick sounding like a giant explosion in the dead silent room.
Tomura had woken up not even 1 hour ago when he was informed that Dabi was attacked by that flaming piece of garbage Endeavor.
Tick, tick, tick, Tomura is ready to decay that clock any second now, each tick is slowly driving him to madness.
Tomura takes a deep breath.
“Everything is fine.” he says as he tries to calm himself.
“Dabi and the baby are fine, they’ve been through worst before, their strong, they can handle it.” Tomura tries to make himself believe the words he’s saying.
Tick, tick, tick
Tomura shakes his head and struggles to not scratch at his neck.
Ignore the clock, think of something else, try and distract yourself. Thought Tomura as he looked around the empty room.
Think
Think
Think
What do I think about?!
Tomura holds his head in his hands as he tries to think of anything to distract himself.
Tomura’s eyes shoot open as he finally thinks of something.
“The baby.” Said Tomura his voice barely a whisper.
“Think about the baby. She’s a girl, she’s just a small bump in Dabi’s stomach right now, in four months she’ll come to life.” Said Tomura as he started to relax as he listed off things about the baby.
“She might be left with my hair but she’ll have her mama’s eyes.” Chuckled Tomura as he imagined a small baby with powder blue hair and bright blue eyes.
“I’ll hold her body in my hands be as gentle as I can, but for now she’s a scan of my unmade plans, a small bump in four months she’ll come to life.” Said Tomura, the ticking of the clock disappearing.
“I’ll whisper quietly, I’ll give her nothing but truth, though she’s not inside of me I’ll put my future in her.” Tomura said, a small smile finding its way across his lips.
“She is my one and only, she can wrap her fingers around my thumb and hold me tight and she’ll be alright.” Tomura unknowingly finds himself starting to sing.
“She’s just a small bump unknown, she’ll grow into her skin.” Tomura started tapping his foot to the beat.
“With a smile like his and a mole beneath her lip, fingernails the size of a half grain of rice and eyelids closed soon to be open wide, a small bump in four months you’ll open your eyes.” Sang Tomura as he imagined a small baby swaddled in a blanket and in his arms.
“She can lie with me, with her tiny feet, when she’s half asleep, I’ll leave her be, right in front of me for a couple weeks so I can keep her safe.” Tomura sang the last word.
The door to the room opened and Tomura sees Ujiko walk in.
“How are they, are they ok?” Asked Tomura as he jumped to his feet and rushed over.
Ujiko was stone faced, not a single hint of emotion to show how things were.
“Master Shigaraki, please have a seat.” Said Ujiko as he gestured to the seat Tomura was sitting in.
Tomura sits back down in his seat and looks at Ujiko waiting for him to continue.
“The fire blast thankfully did not harm Dabi at all other than a little bruising and minor burning.” Said Ujiko, still emotionless as when he came in.
“Oh thank god. And the baby? How is she?.” Asked Tomura relieved that Dabi’s was ok but still anxious over the status of his daughter.
“Well Master Shigaraki, like I said Dabi only sustained some bruising and minor burns…but I’m afraid that the bruising and burns was enough to cause the fetus to go into distress. By the time Dabi got to the table I’m afraid the fetus was already gone.” Said Ujiko, finally managing to show a tiny bit of emotion by furrowing his eyebrows a tiny bit.
“A-Are you saying my daughter..is dead?” Asked Tomura not believing what he’s hearing.
“I’m afraid so, I understand this is some very difficult news so I’ll leave you alone for a little bit to process this than I’ll take you to see Dabi.” Said Ujiko as he than walked out the room and closed the door behind him.
Tomura continued to sit in shock letting the news wash over him like a dark storm cloud.
Tomura didn’t know when he broke down in tears all he remembers is being shocked one moment and on the ground sobbing the next.
Tick, tick, tick, Tomura winces as he heard the ticking of the clock start again.
Tomura finally manages to take a deep breath and slow his sobs down.
“Because she was just a small bump unborn, for four months then torn from life.” Sang Tomura as his tears started to come to an end.
“Maybe she was needed up there but we’re still unaware as why.” Ended Tomura, as he picked himself off the ground, took one last look around the room and opened the door and left to go find Dabi.
