Work Text:

Chanyeol's seeing red.

And it's not in some poetic sort of way.

Heck, he doesn't even know what the color looks like to convey it.

Chanyeol's just extremely pissed off at the couple in front of him.

The lovebirds aren't even aware that their friend's glaring at them, totally busy being all over each other.

"I missed you," Sehun whispered in Junmyeon's ear, wrapping his arms around his boyfriend. "Missed you more," Junmyeon replied, turning to face him as he pressed his lips to his. The kiss started slow and sweet, but it soon became passionate and heated as Sehun licked Junmyeon's bottom lip, begging for entrance.

Chanyeol watched with strong aversion. Did he really just see them use their tongues? When they are in the middle of a café?

That was his last straw.

"I'll just leave," Chanyeol stood up with a heavy sigh. "I can't take this, I really can't."

The couple finally popped out of their little bubble of passion to give their friend a confused glance. "Why? You have just arrived." Sehun asked. "You—!" Chanyeol seethed, pointing his fingers to the pair. "It's because you're always all over each other! I know it's to show your affection, but just why do you have to involve everyone else?!"

The two were shocked at Chanyeol's outburst, and there was only silence for a while until Sehun remarked, "You're just jealous."

"I'm not, you ass." Chanyeol growled. He ran a hand through his hair and exhaled in defeat. "I'm just gonna go, enjoy your date." He said, grabbing his unfinished coffee before moving to leave the café. "You'll find your soulmate soon!" He hears Junmyeon's shout as he exited the store, the bell tinkling when he opened the door and left.

Chanyeol walked aimlessly around, without any real purpose or any place to go. The sound of the monochromatic leaves crunched beneath his feet as the autumn breeze blew through the air

Junmyeon once shared that this is his favorite season. He explained that the views this time of year are just so magical. Trees that were once plain explode into beautiful and vibrant colors. Junmyeon told him that he stroll almost every day to take in the amazing scenery that fall brings with it.

Even with his friend's eager description, it's still all a mystery for him. It's due to the fact that it's only when he first looks into his soulmate's eyes will his world flood with color.

Anyway, Chanyeol's been waiting for that for his whole life. He grew up listening to his parent's fateful meeting. He remembers word by word how his mother saw brown first for his father's glasses. While his father took in purple, the color of her dress.

He wonders why he still hasn't met his other half when most of his friends already have found theirs. Is it because his soulmate is from another country? What if they didn’t speak Korean?

Chanyeol was so distracted by his wandering thoughts that he didn’t notice that he was walking straight into another person. He gasped as the coffee he was holding exploded across his shirt, leaving an ugly stain and a strong smell of the brew.

"I'm sorry, I wasn't looking where I was going," He catches the stranger's apology. "It’s not your fault, I wasn't paying attention—"

Chanyeol's heart skipped a beat when their eyes met.

Slowly and quickly, all at once, sparks flew. Chanyeol beheld how the shades of gray he was used to seeing began to fade and colors started blooming in large splashes. There are the emerald green and golden yellow leaves on the trees around them. There are also the red leaves drifting in the wind and fluttering to the ground.

For all that, Chanyeol was most enchanted with the color blue; the glow of the man's eyes. It was gorgeous, serene yet bright. They are beautifully expressive too, looking at him with more expression possible for one person. Chanyeol can see himself being continually captivated and lured by those eyes, forever lost in those azure orbs.

Next was the shade of his hair, which is pure white. It looks so soft, he wanted nothing more for his fingers to be tangled in those locks. The sunlight flits gracefully into it, giving the petite man some sort of glowing halo.

His mouth opened before he could stop it, "Are you an angel?"

The man in front of him blinked then giggled. Chanyeol thinks that it's the most beautiful sound he has ever heard.

"Are you a devil, then?"

Chanyeol's mind reeled as he thought about what his soulmate had said, "Huh?"

The man playfully answered, "It's because of your hair, it's red. It suits you though!" Chanyeol blushed at the compliment, scratching lightly the hair at the nape of his neck, "I see. Thank you."

"I spilled coffee on your shirt so," The beautiful boy started, "Is there any way I can repay you?"

"A date?" Chanyeol raised his eyebrow cheekily, gathering all of his courage for that one question. Much to his surprise, the other let out a loud laugh, "Such a charmer, but I don't go on dates with people I don't know."

"Right, sorry. It's Chanyeol." He said sticking out his hand. "Park Chanyeol." The other gleefully shook it, "It's nice to meet you, Chanyeol. My name's Byun Baekhyun."

"I'm happy that I met you too, Baekhyun." Chanyeol genuinely uttered and they walked off.

With his cheeks still stained pink, Chanyeol gazes at Baekhyun who excitedly talked about how delicious the food was at his friend's restaurant and that Chanyeol will definitely like it there.

Chanyeol's also now seeing an assortment of colors.

He also now has an array of words to relate each of them to Baekhyun.

And maybe, Chanyeol understands Junmyeon and Sehun a little bit better.
