“Alright, let’s welcome in the last of our panel,” The moderator announces into the microphone, boosting his voice throughout the room, “Our number one, who many of you look up to, Deku!”
“WOO! Deku!” Izuku’s fans call, whooping and clapping as walks onto the panel, sitting down in his seat next to Katsuki who, after immediately feeling a tinge of jealousy, grabs Izuku’s hand under the table. Izuku gives his husband a quick side-eye (that absolutely nerves Katsuki) before smiling and waving at his fans with his free hand.
The thing is, Izuku’s fans don’t know he’s married. Nor do Katsuki’s. The only people who know they’re married are them (obviously), their friends, and their family. That’s it.
Needless to say, plenty of people love to flirt with Japan’s number one pro hero when they think he’s a bachelor.
Everyone on the panel (Uraraka Ochako, number 17 pro hero Uravity, Kaminari Denki, number 12 pro hero Chargebolt, Yaoyorozu Momo, number 8 pro hero Creati, Sero Hanta, number 76 pro hero Cellophane, and Ashido Mina, number 77 pro hero Pinky) knows that Izuku and Katsuki are married so… this is going to be an eventful one, that’s for sure.
Izuku gives Katsuki’s hand a squeeze before pulling it away, which Katsuki does not appreciate, by the way. He likes to hold his husband’s hand. Sue him.
Actually, don't sue him. That feels like a lot of unnecessary paperwork that he is not willing to fill out right now. So, yeah, don’t actually do that. Thanks.
The moderator moves on from introductions to just talking to the heroes. Talking about their careers, where they are, where they want to be, future projects they might be working on, all that fun stuff.
The part that Katsuki absolutely hates about these things, though, is the audience Q&A segment. Not because he hates talking to people (though, he definitely does hate talking to people) but because the audience just feels the need to relentlessly flirt with Izuku.
Katsuki hates that. He knows they kept their relationship and marriage out of the public eye for a reason, they both like their privacy and intimacy and don’t feel the need to share that with people, but sometimes Katsuki just wishes he could scowl at people and tell them to back the fuck off of his husband. His husband. His husband.
But, he never does.
“Alright and with that, I think we can move on to all the questions our audience has because I am absolutely sure you guys are full of them, right?” The moderator asks.
The crowd whoops and cheers.
“That’s what I thought. Please keep the questions appropriate and know that if one of our heroes doesn’t feel comfortable answering your question, they can absolutely refuse to answer it. Now, if you have a question raise your hand.”
Tons of hands spring up into the air and the first person that’s called is a young lady in a dark green jacket, with her hair tied up in a ribbon, which happens to be Uravity merch.
“Hi! My question is for Deku!”
“I’ve got a feeling he’s gonna be real fuckin’ popular tonight,” Katsuki scoffs into his microphone, “you guys know you can talk to any of us, right?”
“Kacch-” Izuku starts before realizing he messed up and Katsuki couldn’t help but smirk at the small mess-up. Izuku hasn’t messed up like that in a while. They’ve been married 4 years, together for 8, and Izuku’s messed up maybe 10 times. “Dynamite,” He corrects himself, “language. Also, there’s no need to be jealous.” Then he looks to the crowd, “He’s always wanted to be number 1 since we were kids, now look at us,” He smirks and Katuski just wants to kiss that stupid smirk off of his face already.
“Well-”
“Guys,” Uraraka speaks into her microphone softly, but demanding, “let the poor woman ask her question. Please stop fighting.”
Mina laughs and makes some statement that agrees with Uraraka.
“We aren’t fighting!” Katsuki protests.
Hanta hums into his microphone, “Yeah, okay, sure you aren’t,” He says sarcastically.
“We aren't!” Katsuki insists.
Izuku nods his head in agreement, “Yeah, I wouldn’t really call that fighting.”
“Well, I would say it’s fighting,” Uraraka voices her own opinion, “arguing, fighting, basically the same thing. You guys were definitely arguing.”
“No, we weren't,” Katsuki drops his mouth in disbelief. Of course these fuckers would all gang up on him, “we exchanged, like, 3 sentences. If even. How the fuck is that arguing?”
“Oh my god, shut up,” Denki groans into his microphone, “lady in the with the Uravity merch, what’s your name?”
“Oh, uh,” She stutters into the microphone, “my name is Tanaka.”
“And your question?” Mina asks.
“Um, it’s for D-deku. I just, uhm,” Clearly, Katsuki interrupting her scared her and sucked any confidence she did have out of her. He kind of feels maybe a little bad. Maybe. Not really, honestly. “I wanted to, uh- um- I just wanted to know if you’ve ever thought about going abroad. Like- Uh- To America or something. Like All Might did.”
Katsuki scoffs because he knows damn well how much Izuku debated that.
Izuku just smiles softly and nods before launching into an answer, “Um, yeah. I definitely have considered it. It would’ve been good for my career, to go to America, since I would have been able to expand my brand and I’ve definitely gotten plenty of offers to go out there but I just…” He trails off for a moment, makes a quick glance at Katsuki that nobody would notice except them, “feel like I have obligations here in Japan. If there was an emergent situation out there and they absolutely needed me, then, of course, I would go out there and help with the case but, ultimately, I'd come home. I couldn't stay out there for long. Leaving home isn’t worth the fame to me. I-I’m not saying that if you do feel like leaving your home country for your career is more important that you shouldn’t. All Might did it and he was a really amazing hero,” Izuku stammers off an… apology? Explanation? Whatever this very unnecessary string of words is, “I just- For me, I don’t think that’s what’s in the cards. But yes, I have thought about it.”
“Thank you,” The lady with the Uravity hair ribbon steps back into the crowd.
The next person who steps forward is a young man in a bright red hoodie, rivaling only Izuku’s shoes (which, even though Katsuki lives with him, he’s not sure Izuku’s ever bought a new pair, yet they don’t look terrible for how long he's had them), “Hey, so my question is for the hottest guy up there.”
Uraraka and Mina both slouched back into their chairs, Yaoyorozu didn’t really have a reaction to that, just stayed seated in her chair as she was. Mina groaned dramatically, “Guess I’m out of the question.”
“Don’t worry, I’m sure we’ll get our questions soon,” Uraraka, who is sitting right next to Mina, scootches her chair over to give Mina a comforting side hug and a pat on the shoulder, “soon…”
“Guys, we can’t do this between every single question,” Hanta sighs, “now,” he smirks, “I’m ready for your question.”
“Pfft-” Katsuki scoffs, “the dude said ‘hottest’, Cellophane… That’s definitely not you.”
“I volunteer as tribute!” Denki raised his hand and Katsuki just rolls his eyes because what the hell is wrong with his friends?
“You don’t get to volunteer,” Mina glares at her best friend, “You’ve gotta be chosen.”
“Why can't I Katniss Everdeen this shit?” Denki pouts, crossing his arms, "not fair." He gets a few laughs from the audience.
Meanwhile, Izuku is just sitting back in his seat watching all of this unfold.
“So,” Hanta leans into his mic, putting on a sultry tone, while completely ignoring Denki's pouting, “who’s the lucky guy?” He asks the question giver.
“Deku,” The guy states.
“God damnit!” Katsuki throws his hands up and leans back into my hair, “Deku, give me my fucking water, I need a drink. I’m pissed.”
Izuku just smirks and leans forward to grab Katsuki’s water, “Here you are, crybaby,” Izuku says in a teasing tone and rolls his eyes as he hands it to Katsuki.
“Thanks,” Katuski mumbles, realizing Izuku already opened his water for him, and takes a sip. Without even looking at Katsuki, as if Izuku knows exactly how long Katsuki takes a drink (which, to be fair, he probably does, with all the analyzing shit he does), Izuku just hands Katsuki the cap.
As he hands Katsuki the cap, mindlessly, he looks at the guy with the question, “Alright, what do you have for me?”
“Would you ever consider dating a fan?” He asks, “Obviously not just randomly but if you were to connect to a fan, would you date them?”
Izuku takes a deep breath. Katsuki knows that he hates these kinds of questions. It’s so difficult to answer them respectfully, while still keeping their relationship a secret. Katsuki notices how Izuku tugs at his left ring finger, where his ring would usually be for him to spin and play with. Katsuki also notices how the other heroes on the panel with them went very quiet at that question.
Izuku, of course, answers it eloquently, perfectly, as always, “I feel like it just depends on the situation. Personally, if I like somebody and I want to be with them, I’ll date them, I don’t care who they are or how it will affect me. However, currently, I don’t feel like I’m at a point in my life where dating is something I’m looking into so I probably wouldn’t date a fan. Nor would I date anybody.”
More questions came and went. Each hero answering a few. Izuku, of course, got millions of questions. Half of them were flirting with him, a quarter of them were terrified of him, and the other quarter were just straight-up haters, trying to get him to say something to fuck his career up.
There’s something that really set Katsuki off though. Getting down to the last few people, one person asks, “Can Deku come down here for a moment? There’s a magic trick I want to do before my question.”
Everybody looks to Izuku, leaving it up to him. Izuku stands up, “Y’know what, yeah, sure,” He shrugs, “what’s the worst that can happen.”
Two security guards accompany him to the person, knowing damn fucking well that Izuku can defend himself. The security guards can’t do shit compared to the number 1 pro hero in Japan.
Anyway, Izuku walks up to the fan and watches their magic trick. Some simple sleight of hand magic that Katsuki sees into instantly and he’s sure Izuku sees through it even quicker.
“Now, for the last part of my trick,” The magician leans forward and presses his lips against Izuku’s.
Izuku quickly pulls back and glances at Katsuki who is absolutely fucking pissed. Does this fucker really think he can get away with kissing his husband in front of him? Abso-fucking-lutely not.
“Wh-why did you do that?” Izuku scoffs incredulously at the man, “No.” He backs up some more, wiping his lips. He glances back to Katsuki who is clenching his fists so hard in his hands that he’s pretty sure they’re bleeding now. It’s taking everything in him to not get up and start exploding the motherfucker.
If he does something, it would obviously reveal his relationship with Izuku and they have their reasons for wanting to keep it private. However, Katsuki is just about ready to ditch all of that reasoning to blow the head off of the guy who has the audacity to kiss his husband, even if he doesn’t know that he’s Katsuki’s husband. He didn’t ask Izuku or anything, he just fucking kissed him and that’s not okay.
The other heroes on the panel were staring at Katsuki as if they were expecting him to blow up, which isn’t too far off, honestly. Because he is about to.
He has a silent conversation with Izuku, via stare (and maybe a little JSL, though not too much because there could be people out there who know JSL and could reveal what they’re talking about), before Izuku sighs and just nods.
Yes. Katsuki has officially been given permission to tell the world that his husband is his husband. Katsuki has his own reasons for keeping the relationship private, as does Izuku, but they’re willing to put all of that on the back burner. No fan has ever done something like this and Katsuki needs to make sure it doesn’t happen again. He needs to make sure the world knows that Izuku is taken. That Izuku is his.
He jumps over the table and walks straight up to his husband, pulling their rings out of his pocket (Izuku forgot to take his off just before the panel started and gave it to Katsuki to hold onto because he was scared to lose them), and placing Izuku’s onto his left ring finger, both his wedding band and engagement ring. Then he places his own ring onto his own left ring finger and just grabs Izuku’s face and kisses his fucking perfect lips.
Izuku wraps his arm in a comfortable position around the back of Katsuki’s neck and kisses him back. Keep in mind, this is all in front of magic-fucker. Serves the guy right.
When Katsuki finally lets Izuku’s lips go (which isn’t until about 10 seconds later, the crowd cheers while some of them boo) he wraps his arm around Izuku’s shoulder and gestures for the person distributing the mic to the question askers to come forward. The person does so, handing Katsuki a mic.
“PSA, this is my husband,” Katsuki holds his left hand up and Izuku copies him, showing off their rings, most of the crowd cheers but some are disappointed. Katsuki sympathizes with them, really, if he were in their shoes, seeing that he was unable to have this gorgeous man, he, too, would be disappointed. Good thing he married the guy before anybody else could get to him, right? He glares directly at magic-fucker when he says, “So let’s not hit on him anymore, yeah?”
Izuku grabs the mic, “Before anybody asks, uh, we’ve been married for 4 years and were engaged for 2 years before that,” After they got engaged, they couldn’t really afford the wedding they wanted and were climbing the ranks really quickly so they didn’t have very much time for planning a wedding, “we’ve been together for 8 years.”
“Since our 3rd year of high school,” Uraraka chimes in, and Katuski almost forgot that there were other heroes here, “they were terrible with PDA,” She smirks, glaring at Katsuki as if challenging him to go over there and knock some fucking sense into her, “I was kinda surprised that they managed to keep it a secret this long. I definitely owe some people some money.”
“Ha!” Denki laughs into the microphone, “I said they’d make over 5 years in private.”
Hanta sighs, “Sometimes I hate partaking in bets against you, Chargebolt.”
“Pay up!” Denki rubs his fingers together, mimicking cash being between them.
Mina groans, “Ugh! Why can’t I ever win any bets? I thought they’d make it 10 years, I had faith in you best friend!” She says as she glares directly at Katsuki like it’s his fault that she fucking bet on him wrong.
Jirou clears her throat, “Now, now guys. I bet that they’d make it 7 years after high school, to 25, which I was right, exactly right, actually. I was starting to get nervous that they'd go longer. And Momo bet that they’d go public while they were number one and two, so… Y’all gotta pay us.”
“Do you guys just not even fucking care that you are discussing your bet about us IN FUCKING FRONT OF US?” Katsuki yells into the mic which is very unnecessary and causes Izuku to lean into Katsuki.
The fucking extras just start to talk about they actually don’t care and whatnot. Eventually, Izuku has had enough (yeah, bet you thought Katsuki was going to be the one who has had enough. But he’s used to his friend’s bickering, even if Uraraka is also involved in his friend’s bickering this time, it’s not that much different), “Ooookay,” Izuku interjects, “let's stop us right there, thank you. I think that we’re going to go ahead and leave the panel early. My best regards to all of you,” He blows a kiss to the crowd before dragging his husband backstage.
“I can’t believe we just did that,” Izuku says breathlessly, “we really just went public. To everyone. There were definitely recordings of that so it’s bound to go viral quickly.”
“Izu, breathe with me, baby,” Katsuki grabs his shoulders and grounds him, breathing with him, “It’s okay, we’re good, okay? Nothing bad is going to happen," He says soothingly, comforting him, "I promise you that everything is going to be okay, alright? I love you.”
Izuku smiles, Katsuki can practically see as the anxiety in him decreases, and moves in to hug Katsuki who immediately hugs him back. Izuku leans his forehead onto Katsuki’s, their noses just about to touch, “I love you too,” He whispers, pressing a kiss right onto Katsuki's lips.
