Summary
Abby Griffin arrives in the small New Hampshire town of Eden hoping to make a fresh start after the death of her husband. With fifteen-year-old daughter, Clarke, in tow, she tries to make a life for them in the town, and must learn to cope with Clarke's independence and her own loneliness.
Marcus Kane is President of the Academy and Professor of History. He's a man who keeps himself to himself, has no interest in letting other people into his life. His staff think he's grumpy, his private life a mystery, but beneath the stiff exterior is a complex man in deep pain.
Marcus finds Abby rude and overbearing; she thinks he's cold and stand-offish and delights in teasing him. The resulting battle of wits leads them to a tentative friendship, and a mutual attraction which they deny to themselves and each other. Can they overcome the walls they've built around their hearts and find love?
