Summary
Lifeblood is a highly addictive and poorly understood illegal substance that has circulated throughout Japan since the late 1950s. The drug acts as a stimulant paralleled by no other man-made substance, increasing aggression, euphoria, and physical ability to a state unsustainable by the unmodified human body.
Due to the secrecy surrounding its creation and distribution, little is known about lifeblood's makeup, except that it is largely comprised of highly processed human tissue.
The sole trafficker of lifeblood, and the "ingredients" used to manufacture it, are the Kizuki, an organization defined by its secrecy, and its complete disregard for human life.
The natural enemy of the Kizuki is the Bureau of Public Welfare, tasked with eradicating lifeblood, hoping to strike all evidence of its existence from the record of human history.
However, there are those that remain outside the Bureau's purview, unable or unwilling to join the agency and be subject to its hierarchy. They are vigilantes, seeking to bring down the Kizuki via their own methods. Shinobu Kochou is one of them, and she will stop at nothing to see her quest through to the end, regardless of how much she stands to lose.
