It didn’t take long for Link to become her constant companion, and for Zelda to start thinking of him as a friend. The first time she heard him laugh was a shock - but a good shock. All these years later, she can’t even remember what it was about, but it was real and light and came from his belly.
His voice was not something Zelda heard often, besides grunts and fighting sounds - when he did speak, it was stuttering and difficult - like the words would get stuck in his mouth and it would make his cheeks burn red. When he got more comfortable with her, he signed, and it didn’t take Zelda long to learn (when he finally agreed to teach her.)
It became like a secret language between the two of them, and for a little while there - in the prosperity of the Kingdom of Hyrule, Link was like her oasis in the desert, and her very best friend.
Then he died.

Basically, it's the Age of Calamity Timeline, but Tears of the Kingdom, with Zelink and Yiga Husbands before they start dating.

With Ivy's minimal education, poor school marks, lost personal documents, and no housing, finding a job was almost impossible. Until she wanders into a new town, and comes face to face with a red brick building on the towns edge. "Mother Miranda's Boarding School for Girls". That's where our story starts - at the main door of that boarding school.

There's some static sounds and Soap frowns, "Ghost, how copy?" He tries again.
"Sergeant, what's your status?" Comes the reply through an unfamiliar voice.
"Who are you?" Soap almost snarls, adrenaline kicking in, "What did you do to—"
He gets rudely cut off, "You may call me Oni." The stranger— Oni states easily, as if this is a daily occurrence for him. "The Lieutenant asked me to come to your aid."
"The Lieutenant?"
"Ghost."
Ghost is a cryptic man with a history shrouded in red tape and black ink. No one knows much about his past; all that's known about him is that he popped up 5 years ago, already a mystery. That is, until Graves betrays them and Soap has to fight his way through Las Almas in the company of a dog named Riley and a man calling himself Oni, who tells him they're an old acquaintance of Ghost.
What that means exactly, Soap doesn't know, but he intends to find out.
All the while, Ghost and Alejandro are currently held prisoner and in Graves' custody.
Rework/Rewrite of the fanfic with the same title, and, like a remastered game, it's been upgraded with better "visuals," and more information has been added.
