Chapter Text
“Have you heard from Saanvi” Ben asked Mick on the phone.
“No not in like a month. You are worried about her, right?” Mick asked.
“You know me so well” ben said and hung up the phone.
He walked into the kitchen to tell Grace that he had to stop by the university to get some stuff so he could finish planning lessons for the week. He didn’t want to tell Grace where he was going because he was afraid, she wouldn’t understand how and why he was so connected to a person she thought only was their son’s doctor. She didn’t know about all the other things the passengers had to endure for 5 years 6 months and 28 days. Grace hadn’t even gotten the full story about plane 828. The flight that changed the lives of both him and the other passengers. He felt so disconnected to his family. He was the only one except Mick who remembered what happened after the flight. It was so weird being back. There was so much change but at the same time nothing had changed. I guess that was the change. Nothing at all. He couldn’t talk to Mick about what he was feeling because she used her time at work or working with Zeke to help him get sober or going on dates with her future husband. Don’t get me wrong Ben was very happy for them, but he was also sad for himself. He wasn’t there for his family, and he had a hard time bonding with them. They didn’t know why, and he wasn’t about to tell them either. The only person he had left was Saanvi and he hadn’t seen her in 3 months.
He walked into the hospital where Saanvi worked.
“Hi, I’m looking for Doctor Saanvi Bahl do you know where she is?” Ben asked the woman at the front desk.
“I’m sorry she is not here. She said that she would be back in about 2 hours.” The woman responded dryly.
Later that week
“Hey, could you take Cal to that doctor you told me about that could cure his cancer at 12 pm today” Grace asked looking at her husband with a smile.
“Sure. Have you booked a consultation” Ben said and kissed his wife.
“Yes, I did that earlier this week” Grace said as she separated from Ben. Ben moved to Cal’s room and told him that they would be going on a visit to the hospital. They walked into the car. He handed a water bottle to Cal as he drove off to the hospital. When they walked in he saw the front desk lady.
“I’m here for a consultation with Doctor Saanvi Bahl at 12pm for my son Cal Stone.” Ben said to the front desk lady. She responded by leading them to Saanvi’s office. Ben knocked on the door.
“Yes” Saanvi said from inside.
“It’s Ben Stone, I’m here for a consultation..” He couldn’t finish before heard Saanvi say
“Come in” They walked inside the office. The walls of her office was bare. The white walls nearly blending Ben’s eyes. Saanvi walked over and gave Ben a hug. He looked down at her belly to find a growing baby bump.
“You are here about Cal’s leukemia, right?” Saanvi asked either not reading thee room or not willing to talk about anything other than business.
“Yes, could you put him in the program.” Ben asked looking dumbfounded at her.
“We could start the treatment today, because we both know very well how he will respond to it. Also, we need to talk.” She said looking straight at Ben.
“I’m okey with starting Cal’s treatment and talking.” Ben said looking between his son and his best friend.
After Cal’s treatment had started Saanvi and Ben walked into her office. He gave her a hug. She let the tears she had been holding back fall down her face. Ben moved away from her and looked at his pregnant friend for a minute before embracing her in another hug.
“I’m sorry…” Saanvi started.
“What is it that you’re sorry for” Ben asked as he continued to comfort Saanvi. When she had spilled most of the tears in her body she began to speak again.
“I’m sorry for not telling you sooner. And for ghosting you for I don’t know how long and for ruining your family.” Saanvi rambled. Ben put his hands around her waist.
“You re not going to ruin my family. I’ve already done that. At least my relationship with Grace. After the flight I feel like I can’t connect to her anymore. I have this whole family she doesn’t know anything about. You’re my family Saanvi. And all the other passengers that was on 828 with me. I was afraid that you had closed up in the lab again. You deserve to live your life Saanvi.” Ben said looking at Saanvi with tears in his eyes.
“I’m not going to tell you to leave Grace just because I’m pregnant.” Saanvi said
“It’s mine…” Ben paused for a moment.
“Who’s did you think it was. I’m in week 22 and the only person I’ve slept with is you. I couldn’t bring myself to sleep with Alex. Because all I have thought of is you Benjamin Stone” Saanvi said leaning in to kiss Ben. They kissed. Ben’s heart felt like it was going to explode out of his chest.
“Who else knows?” Ben asked.
“I told Mick about a month ago, Alex because we lived together and my boss because I asked for maternity leave last week” Saanvi said. “None of them know that it’s yours. I think maybe Mick had an idea but I’m not sure” she continued.
“We should probably go cheek on Cal. I’m supposed to monitor him.” Saanvi sid and quickly walked out of the lab.
“He is okey” she said to Ben when he was by her side again. Ben couldn’t stop looking at the baby bump.
“It’s a girl. I was thinking Aisha. Meaning life.” Saanvi said looking up at Ben.
“Aisha… I love that name” Ben said softly. Saanvi walked into the room where Cal was siting and took the IVF out of him. She gestured to the door and Cal walked out. Cal hugged his father.
