Starcrossed is an app that helps you find the ideal partner across the universe... Your soulmate, if you will.
Now I think that's a cup of bullshit but who am I to judge? I registered because of a dare given me by my brother, curse his soul.
I thought it was a useless waste of memory on my phone until I matched with someone. She said her name was Juvilee, and she lived in the system of Kriop, which is around one million lightyears away from earth.
Earth is both looked down on and feared in the intergalactic empire, with technology able to destroy planets and an atmosphere poisonus for 90% of the intergalactic species. Apparently, not with Juvilee's planet, Fenyll. She said that it was really similar to earth, or as others called it, Terra, because they had a hard time saying the actual name of the planet.
We talked in Universal, which is a language made for every species to understand and learn. It was... easier than my mother language.
But harder than English, I can say that.
We face timed with Juvilee a couple of times, and what started as a silly dare became a huge crush. She was nice, caring, and supportive of my sheaningans. She often gave me advice, and she was there for me when my family was killed by a conflict between my country and a neighbouring one.
It's been three years of online chatting while I hopped from foster home to foster home. I am currently seventeen in earth years, and she is 10. On her planet, it works a tad bit differently because her planet actually rotates slower than mine, and they become adults at the age of 9, which is 16 years for us.
I found it fascinating. Her culture was so much different than anything I've ever seen...
"I would live with you." I said one time when we were calling, and she laughed.
"You sure? Because I can't guarantee that I'll ever let you leave." She said, and I could hear honesty between the teasing tone.
"Yeah. What can I lose? My family is gone, these fucks are only in for the money, there's nothing left for me here." I said. Her black void eyes stared at me, pale skin and silver hair almost gloving in the cold light that illuminated her room.
"I suppose you are right. I have to go now, see you soon.... How do you say it? Mi amor?" She smiled a litle.
"Not even close, darling, that's spanish. But you tried." I smiled right back at her, and she muttered something about terrian languages and the reason behind being so many of them, before the screen went black. I sighed and groaned a bit, leaving my room to get some leftovers. My foster parents were out drinking or something, I never really cared.
That was the last time I spoke to Juvilee, and it's been a week or so. My life just went on, with it's boring monotonity and stupidity. Wake up, go to school, go to work, sleep. On repeate like a broken CD.
That was untill one day, after maye two weeks of radio silence from my online date, men in suit appeared on the doorstepp of the house. My foster parents looked really surprised, but let them in regardless.
They were goverment officials, as it later turned out, stating that the army of planet Fenyll entered our scholar system. Not demanding war right up, but demanding of a human. A specific one, they explained, the leader of the planet, head of the Seeleen Monarch of the Debrin system, requested my immediate escort to the ship.
"Are you sure you have the right person?" Anne, my 'mother' asked, eyes portraying pure confusion.
"You are Ge'lie, right?" The guy asked, wich I nodded at. The nickname was given to me by Juvilee. It means great treasure in her language.
"I am pretty sure we are correct ma'am." The official stood up, and the other two folloved.
"You have one hour to pack your things, the ship will be ready. We will send someone to escort you." Apathy and professionalism was all I could find in his voice, as they exited the building. Not waiting for my current caretakers' reaction, I walked into my room and pulled out my bag. I figured I didn't need any clothing. I bet this has to with Juvilee, although I have no idea how could this be related to her, but there is no other reasonable explanation.
I grabbed my phone and the charger, I packed my favourite books and my drawing supplies. Two sketchbooks, a picture of my family, my real family, my small make up kit and my only fidget toy, a litle machine with moving and clicking pieces inserted into a cube. It helps me with my anxiety, my dad got it to me for my twelwth birthday. I felt tears gathering in my eyes at the memory. Blinking them away I grabbed the bag, and left the room, not even glancing back.
My nerves only kicked in when i was already on the spaceship, a small one not designed to leave the scholar system, and I started smooting out my clothes, and fixing my hair to look more presentable.
There were four others with me, the guy I met before, a woman with a tight bun, a white button up and a black skirt, black high heels made her look taller than she was, and a clipboard rested in her hands. There were two soliders, a female and a male, dressed in that gear FBI agents had in movies. Maybe they were from the FBI, who knows.
"You look great, don't be nervous." The woman, the secretary of the man in the suit probably, smiled at me. I nodded and smiled back nervously, and let out a shaky breath. The ship slowly aproaches the deck of the mother ship of the aliens, and the captain anounced the docking. The armored man grabbed my arm with a bruising grip, which hurt, mind you, and I made sure to let everyone know with a loud hiss of pain. The agents seemed to notice, and proceeded to ignore it.
A bunch of biches I say. Wronguns by soul.
I was escorted out of the spaceship, where a couple of alien soliders stood. The fenyllian kind, if they have to be described in human words, shared many similarities in look with Fae. White skin, inhuman yet still human features. Void eyes and bronze, silver, or golden hair. Their technology was above humans', their whole planet unified as one, under the ruling of a leader, the Raake. They are known to endure the deadly athmosphere on earth, as they, like I mentioned earlier, inhabit a planet with it.
They are said to be cruel and territorial rulers, attacking and concuring every planet they deemed worthy. Altought for them nuclear energy did not exist, their crystal based weapons are just as popular and dangerous as ours. A man with short golden hair and gold tinted skin walked up to us, and shot a nasty look towards the soilder holding my arm. His void like eyes, the whole eyeball must be that color, flickered with poorly hidden disgust.
"The Raake wishes the human to be treated with the care of a fine hyev." He said. A hyev, if Juvilee's word can be trusted, is a fine, fragile vase that is exported from Fenyll to every point of the galaxy. It's beautiful, but really easy to break so one must pay extra care and attention to it. The FBI agent let go of my arm, a purple mark decorating it already. I rubbed it to soothe the pain, and the fenyllian's eyes jumped to it with worry.
"We have come to discuss bussiness. Lead us to the empress." The man in the suit said, voice monotone and void of all emotion. The man who came to greet us just nodded, and led us to the throne room, the Raek en'yll. It directly translates into 'ruling place'. Three years of learning the language of Fenyll, the Nylle'hel, was worth it. Nylle'hel, by the way, translates into 'star language'. Fenyll means 'star-connected' because it's really close to it's star, the Jiet, which is a lot colder than our sun.
When we stepped into the throne room, our guide bowed to the person sitting on a throne. And my mouth fell open, she was even more beautiful than on screen. Her hair was floating, defying gravity, her skin shimmered in the light. Her void eyes with million stars seemed to gocus on me and only me. She was wearing light blue silk and golden armor. A golden crown sat on top of her head, decorated with shards of ni'e and fre'ka, crystals that can only be found on Fenyll. It was her, no doubt, Juvilee in all her Fae-like glory. We locked eyes, and time seemed to stop. I couldn't tear my gaze away, and she seemed to be in the same trance I was in.
That moment lasted untill the man in the suit cleared his throat. We broke eye contact, both looking at the man.
"We shall discuss bussiness, your majesty." Juvilee frowned, but gestured for the man to continue.
"We seeked out the human you have requested, and we would like to know when will you leave our scolar system." He said.
"The moment you are off the ship, we will return to our planet. I thank you for delivering my Ge'lie to me, and I am willing to ignore the bruise she has, in favour of you all returning to your planet in the next hour or so." She said, and the man nodded, and started walking away, followed by the two agents. The secretary lady smiled at me.
"Good luck." She whispered and I smiled back. She hureied after the other humans, leaving me alone in the Raek en'yll. Juvilee smiled at me, eyes filled with warmth.
"My Ge'lie, I am so happy you have returned to me." She said, gesturing for me to step closer, which I did without hesitation.
"You look hotter in person." I said, and her laughter, oh her honey sweet laughter, filled the room. I heard a fenyllian mutter something about young love. I smiled, and stepped closer to hug my lover for the first time. She pulled me into her lap, a wide smile on her face. I felt my cheecks heat up. I was not expecting this, but hey! I am not complaining. Sitting in the lap of my hot girlfriend is not something I will ever complain about.
"My Raake, the humans had left the mother ship." One of the guards spoke after they lostened to their communication device.
"Splendid. Get ready to leave the milkyway. Let's go home." She said and hugged me closed. The guard nodded, repeating the order into their communicator.
I felt joy, pure, unmistakable, yoj. And as the ship left earth behind, I melted into the loving touches of the only woman I have ver loved in my life, and I thanked whatever deity was out there, that I could be so lucky to have an amazing person beside me.
And I thanked my brother for making me download that stupid app all those years ago.
