Chapter Text
“I can’t believe we all got put in different classes! I mean, what are the chances?” Mikey groaned.
“The probability is actually smaller than you think. It’s a—“
“Can it, Donnie.” Raph slapped a hand to Donnie’s face. “I can’t believe it! There’s four classes in our level, and four of us got allocated one in each class! What is this, the sorting hat?”
“If it was the sorting hat, my class would be Gryffindor.” Mikey grinned.
“Yeah, and mine would be Hufflepuff. I’m Gryffindor, you dork!” Raph slapped Mikey’s head.
“Hey! What makes you think you’re Gryffindor? Maybe you could be…. uh…” Mikey thought. “Because of your attitude, Slytherin!” He grinned.
“What?! Why you…”
“Enough, guys.” A voice cut through. Leo’s voice paused all arguments, albeit a bit of grumbling by Raph, and they all turned to face Leo, listening to what he had to say.
“It’s a new world here, we all have to adapt,” Leo started. “And we’ve also never been to school before, so because now that we’re all separated, we’ve gotta fend for ourselves. There’s nobody to pick up our slack anymore, so make smart decisions.” Leo stared at each of his brothers. “Smart. Decisions. Got it?”
“Yeah Leo, sure.” Mikey waved a dismissive hand. “We got it, we’ve been through way worse! Like that time we got separated into four escape rooms?”
“Oh god, don’t remind me.” Donnie shivered. “That was a painful nightmare.”
“Yeah, back when we were TURTLES!” Raph yelled. “I hate being human! Why did we end up like this?”
“For the fiftieth time, Raph, I have no idea. It’s not my fault!” Donnie sighed.
“I kinda like being a human.” Mikey added. “Comes in a 2 for 1 package of handsome looks and people finally not screaming at us when they see us.”
They looked to Leo for the next course of action. It was their first day of high school, after all. Their leader and big brother would have an answer to every unknown in their life.
Leo smiled. “Don’t worry, you guys. You’ll be fine. If anything, try your best in school and give your all. You guys will be amazing.”
The smile of their big brother calmed their nerves exponentially, even after everything they’ve been through. The self assured, reliable, big brother Leo.
“I mean it guys, try your best. You guys can definitely shine in this…” He looked at the paint falling off the building and the messy architecture. “This… school. Holy shit, I wanna go back to ninjaing. I'm not ready for this.” Leo groaned.
Mikey nodded in agreement. “You and me both, bro.”
“Well, what else do we need to do? Other than doing our best.” Raph put a hand on his hips and faced Leo.
“Have fun,” Leo said. “It’s the chance we’ve always wanted, to live a normal life as a teenager. Do whatever you want; and try your absolute best in the process. That’s it.”
The other three brothers smiled.
“You got it, bro!” Mikey saluted.
“You’re the boss.” Raph shrugged.
The four brothers walked towards a new chapter in their life, hoping that this time, they’d finally be able to rest.
Little did they know that they would soon be known as the popular kids. (Mikey as the people-person, Donnie as the tech-savvy/genius person, Raph as the muscle and brawn person, and the only one who could control these three, Leo.)
