Chapter 10

Notes:

I'm alive. I've been coughing since December...it's February now. Been a really shitty year in the US. Mental health isn't the best but after two long years I've finally updated. My dear cousin gave me the motivation to continue this fic. Hope you guys enjoy this chapter.

Chapter Text

Johnny and Peter both enjoyed flying/swinging by the children's hospital. They both loved seeing the faces of the kids light up as they passed by. Sometimes they'd join other heroes and make an appearance and volunteer. They would play games, read stories, and have lunch with them.

Today wasn't one of those days but sometime soon they'd both volunteer. Even if there were people who disliked the masked vigilante, kids adored Spider-Man. Being able to light up a kid's day just by making an appearance warmed Peter's heart.

They had Chinese take out from one of the many places they loved. The two heroes found a spot on the roof of a decently tall building to enjoy their food.

They ate in relative silence. Legs dangling off the side of the building as they watched the busy streets of New York below.

“I was pretty bummed that you weren't there at the gala.”

“Had prior engagements. Sorry about that, were you lonely without me?” Spider-Man teased.

“It was just boring.” Johnny shrugged like he didn't miss the masked hero.

Spider-Man snickered and dove into his takeout. Already on his third box of roasted duck.

“You missed out. Thor brought the Asgardian stuff. I swear Logan was about to break out into song.”

It was a comical sight for sure. The short burly man was definitely about to belt out something from a musical. Storm managed to settle him down before he could grace the gala guests with his wonderful singing voice. Johnny heard that Wolverine did have a nice set of pipes.

Karaoke nights at the X-Mansion must've gone hard.

Peter saw it too and he snapped a few photos. He was definitely going to keep them. He had a whole album filled with comic outtakes of the other superheroes. He didn't just take pictures of himself as Spider-Man. It wasn't his fault that his boss preferred the ones of him running around in blue and red spandex.

The photo where he accidentally chiseled off Johnny's blond locks was one of them. His prized one to be exact.

He chuckled at the memory.

“Hilarious, I know. Would've been cool if you were there.” Johnny replied thinking Spider-Man laughed because the thought of Logan singing in a drunken stupor was funny. Which it was but not what the other was thinking about.

“Parker was there too.” He mumbled through a crab rangoon.

“Oh did you guys hangout?”

“Nah, I guess I was acting a little hot headed because he took a picture of me and Sue.”

“Give him a hard time?”

“Did he tell you that?” Johnny asked defensively. Did Peter rat him out to Spider-Man?

He just shrugged at the blond and kept eating. He held back a snicker when Johnny scowled at him.

“I’m suffering.” He groaned dramatically, changing the subject. “Ben and Sue have come to call you my Spider-Boo.”

Spider-Man snorted, almost choking on his food.

“Aww. Should I call you my Flaming Boo Bear?” He made a kissy face at Johnny who paid no mind to the nickname. Eyes locked into the other’s exaggeratedly puckered lips. He wanted to kiss them badly.

Still transfixed by the other’s lips, Johnny wiped away the small bit of duck sauce left on the corner of Spider-Man’s mouth with his thumb. Licking it off, not breaking eye contact with the white lenses of Spider-Man's mask.

He could see or rather feel the heat radiating off the other's cheeks.

Did Johnny go too far? Take out set aside, he scooted closer to the other. He wondered how close he could get before the other would push him away or tell him to fuck off.

Their noses brushed and he could feel Spider-Man's rapid hot breath against his lips.

Johnny felt bold and closed the distance between them. His lips pressing against the other's. It was warm and Johnny felt like he was going to combust.

A simple peck on the lips reduces Johnny Storm into a hot mess. Perfect.

Doom could take him out right now and he'd die a happy man. Feeling those lips against his own without the mask felt so nice.

Johnny felt a little braver and swiped his tongue against the other's lips. It earned him a little gasp and he slowly worked his tongue inside the other's mouth.

Spider-Man didn't pull away if anything he started tilting his head to the side so Johnny had a better angle. His tongue engaged with the blond's slowly and sensually.

They heard multiple camera shutters go off and a few excited squeals around them as they parted abruptly.

Johnny coughed into his hand. While Spider-Man seemed speechless.

“You think they got a good shot?” Johnny joked nervously.

“Right. The paparazzi.” Spider-Man mumbled and he rolled the mask back down. Hiding lips that Johnny wanted to kiss again.

“Yeah.” Johnny lied. He didn't notice them, too caught up in kissing his greatest crush with tongue.

Johnny kept his cool. Although the ends of his hair ignited for a few seconds.

“This was nice. Gotta patrol the city.” Spider-Man said hastily and grabbed a bag. He put his leftover takeaway inside it. Would be a waste not to finish it.

“Thanks for the meal my Flaming Boo Bear.” He teased before swinging away.

Johnny was left on the roof of the building watching him go. He wanted nothing more than to confess his true feelings. He was still thinking about the kiss they shared.

He wanted to kiss Spider-Man again.

But that was the thing. They were just fake dating. None of it was real. Johnny had to remember that the whole plan was to “break up” and go back to being friends. But he had the feeling that things would never go back to how they were before.

If Johnny could have his way, they'd be dating for real. But he just had to come up with this hair brained scheme because the possibility of rejection terrified him more than anything.

Peter's lips still tingled as he swung back home to put away his leftovers. His thoughts replayed the sensation of Johnny's tongue brushing against his own and the warm feeling that started building in his chest. Johnny was a great kisser and if they didn't hear the paparazzi then he was sure he would've made out with the blond forever.

But of course Johnny only kissed him because of the whole plan. They did agree that kissing was on the table. Maybe Peter should just confess and be rejected by his not so real boyfriend. Just to get it over with.

The inevitable “break up" would be catastrophic. Or that's what he told himself. There was no way things would stay the same. Just knowing that they weren't actually together made him so frustrated at his past self for even agreeing to Johnny's plans.

But Peter was a little selfish and at the time it really felt like the only way for them to be together. Fake or not it was very real to Peter and he just knew the fallout would leave a lasting crack in his soon to be broken heart.

Peter wasn't allowed to have this kind of happiness. One way or another he'd always end up losing something or someone close to his heart.

It would be for the best if they ended things sooner rather than later.
