    Summary

There is no meaning in a game without victory. No purpose in a leader without a follower. No use for a detective without an already existing problem to solve.

The King slams her foot on the board and the bodies fall like pawns, swept to her side as if making a mockery of her opponent- a steadily growing pile of trophies she had no right to claim, did not work for, did not earn, did not respect.

The Queen is silent. He analyzes, he chides and he sneers. He is boisterous and proud for a man with no pawns, his side of the board rapidly depleting in numbers as he does nothing but watch. He pays no mind to the pieces up his sleeve, the ones the King did not notice jostling loose in her desperate need for chaos and ruin. The Rook, the Bishop, the Knight and the measley Pawn hidden on his person cry out. They weep, plead and beg for him not to follow through with his next move. They call him the monster for shaking his leg as the King slams down a closed fist over yet another pawn, and as his numbers continue to dwindle, he believes them.

    But he does not hesitate.

Because there is no meaning in a game without victory, and no purpose in a leader who can not lead.
