Summary
The darkness used to be a comfort for Andres. The quietness, the stillness - it felt like a blanket, one you would use to hide under as a child, so nobody could see your true self, and you remain safe for one night more from the horrors that lurked outside the blanket.
But now he feared the darkness. No longer was it a sense of comfort, protection from the horrors - it was the horror. It hid away the unknown, the monsters, the nightmares. It blinded him to his surroundings and made his far-too-tired mind imagine what would be lurking just a few feet away.
