Chapter Text
He had gotten hurt, again. He hadn't told her how, or why but he did. The wound was across his arm, something having torn through the skin causing a gushing bloody mess. It was okay, she was used to the sight of it.
She's found herself wrapping his wounds often, whether it's from his own recklessness or her own misfortune, although as of late, it had been the latter most often. She hadn't..told him, exactly yet. too afraid to say anything. it's selfish, she knows that.
she’ll tell him soon.
She slowly cleaned the wound, due to its size and sensitivity. it had been covered in dirt and muck, much of the blood drying making it cakey and difficult to clean. Through her focused gaze, she heard his hisses and sounds of pain, she glanced up, his face turned away and wrinkled from the stinging.
for how often he got hurt he never seemed to handle the pain well. or the bugs.
Speaking of bugs, she spotted a few near his wound, quickly removing them and cleaning the residue, although she wouldn't tell him that.
“h-how much more cleaning?-” he strung the words out with much effort, clearly clouded by the pain in his arm.
“Not much, I hope at least, I just need to get some of the residue dirt out.” She felt confident in her estimate, grabbing for the hydrogen peroxide, dabbing some on a towel and moving to place it on the wound, however she paused.
“This might hurt.”
“i-i figured ha.”
She pressed the towel down, wiping it through the wound, he grunted out in pain.
“It's okay it's okay, we’ll be done soon I promise.” her words were gentle, soft spoken tones that she heard so rarely from herself these days.
he nodded, trusting her.
he trusted her.
She finishes cleaning the wound, moving to grab the bandages that she set aside, she looked up at him, seeing that his eyes were still squeezed shut.
“It's okay, you can open them now.”
as he did his gaze immediately fell on his wound, clearly becoming woozy at the sight, she raised her hand to his cheek, making him focus his gaze on her.
“It's okay, you're okay James.”
he nodded, even after she took her hand away, his eyes remained on her.
She carefully wrapped the wound, making sure it wasn't too tight. After it was finished, she brought his bandaged arm to her lips, giving it a gentle and swift kiss. looking up into his eyes.
“Feel better?”
“y-yes. thank you." His tone was shaky, but not due to the wound, she could tell by his reddening face.
she giggled, he could be such a dork. but she guessed that was just another thing in the long list of things she liked about him.
