sweet and confusing deception

Summary:

Instead of listening to the twins, Yuder swiftly changed course and sat next to Kishiar. In all honesty, he hadn’t been confident that he’d be able to get anything without arousing suspicion, but Kishiar was doing all of the hard work for him.

Utterly pleased, he didn’t linger on the fact that he was practically sitting in a grown man’s lap while wearing a rather scandalous outfit. Holding out the last champagne glass to him, he didn’t notice how the high slit of his outfit shifted even higher, revealing the long line of his right leg and very top of his hip.

Yuder’s head tilted slightly as Kishiar unexpectedly took the glass and turned away to start talking about asinine things like the weather. If he didn’t know any better, he’d think Kishiar had gotten flustered about something.

Yuder and gang get tasked with killing Kishiar la Orr. While Yuder was busy collecting intel, Kishiar la Orr became convinced he was a honeypot.

Notes:

I was actually working on a wip but because it's getting serious I needed something silly, and I remembered the idea of Yuder as an assassin sent to kill Kishiar but because he takes his time collecting intel Kishiar ends up thinking Yuder is a honeypot, so here we are.

If there's any typos pls let me know I wrote this all today 🙏

I made two small edits that address continuity issues

Chapter Text

If it weren’t for the fact that he was the only one qualified for this mission, Yuder Aile wouldn’t have found himself in such a place.

Carrying drinks on a tray while wearing an outfit that clung to his body and exposed his arms and legs in the nightclub full of alphas and omegas looking for fun, he promised to make their client pay if their mark wasn’t actually here.

“Yuder, relax your face! Even with a face mask on, you look like you’re going to stab someone to death!”

“Well, he really might! It’s dark in there anyways, no one’s going to notice.”

Hinn and Finn Eldore continued to chat lightheartedly, their cheery voices coming out of the earpiece hidden behind his hair. While Yuder still thought they were too young to be in a nightclub, they managed to weasel their way in by saying they would hide in the air ducts high above the ceiling and only intervene if necessary.

“Are you sure you’re fine being there alone, Yuder?” asked Kanna. “Gakane and I can go in at any time.”

“I’m fine,” he said and slapped away a hand that tried to touch him so hard that the hand the person belonged to started to cry. “Our mark isn’t known for being calculating, so there’s no point in getting anyone else involved.”

In reality, their client was quite suspicious, stating outlandish remarks as facts and insisting that their mark, Kishiar la Or, was someone that should no longer get to live.

It was true that their group offered the kinds of services that, if discovered, would get them thrown in jail, but they did conduct background checks on those who were marked to be killed, as they all agreed that innocent people should be left alone.

Yuder alone had already made it clear what would happen to a client that didn’t abide by their rules, but every now and then they would encounter a fool who thought they could trick them into doing their bidding.

While the client had provided evidence to Kishiar’s misdeeds, Yuder’s instincts told him to double check the intel given to them, especially after Kanna didn’t get anything concrete out of the documents. Enon had taken over the investigation, but since nothing was popping up, they decided to do some old-fashioned spying and hope they get something good.

“If you need a fast getaway, I left a bike outside near the shrubs,” said Ever. “Don’t forget to put on a helmet!”

“I see him,” interrupted Yuder. “Hinn and Finn, can you see where I’m going?”

Kishiar la Orr really was a beautiful man-- the various photos of him online hadn’t done him justice. Golden hair with vibrant red eyes surrounded by long lashes that looked like brilliant streaks of sunlight, and wearing clothing that only accentuated his features, should have led to him being surrounded by interested people.

Yet oddly enough, his only companion stood from the sofa facing Kishiar’s and walked towards the bar on the far side of the club, a tall man that looked like he was skilled with weapons.

“We can! Was that man who left him Nathan?”

“This is your chance! Don’t worry about us!”

Without any hesitation, he leisurely made his way to Kishiar, making sure to have one last glass of champagne to offer him while stealing something that Kanna could read.

He was a few feet away when he was physically stopped by a drunk alpha. Glaring at him wasn’t effective, a clear way of knowing the alpha had drunk far too much and was unable to detect when his life was in danger.

“Hey,” he slurred and held onto his free arm. Emerging from the thick stench of alcohol was a putrid, rancid scent that couldn’t possibly be appealing to a single omega. “You’re so pr’tty… Come back home with me…”

Various voices started echoing in his ear again.

Yuder was also a bit angered, debating between punching or kicking the guy away when Kishiar noticed what was going on and stood up to intervene. Looming over them both, a beautiful smile spread across his face.

A refreshing scent managed to cut through the overbearing smell of the alpha clinging to Yuder.

“Sorry to interrupt, but how can he do his job when you’re keeping him hostage?”

The alpha’s face froze, and his mouth opened to yell in anger until an oppressive force emanating from Kishiar made him shut his mouth and practically run away with his tail tucked between his legs.

“My apologies, are you alright?” he asked. “I can’t say that I’m sorry about that, but I’ve heard I can be a bit too much. Why don’t you take a seat for a bit and rest? If your boss tells you anything, just say you were entertaining a VIP member.”

The twins started chatting again.

“I guess he’s not so bad!”

“Maybe the client’s just jealous of him.”

Blinking in shock, Yuder composed himself and looked up into Kishiar’s face. His smile had softened slightly, but the way he held himself and spoke made it clear that he was different from the rumors surrounding him.

Feeling like his luck was exceptional that evening, Yuder nodded and followed Kishiar to the sofa he had been sitting on. Placing the tray down on the small table in-between the sofas, he was about to sit across from him when Kishiar spoke.

“Wouldn’t your boss find it suspicious seeing you so far away from me?” Smiling slyly, he patted the space next to him.

While the sofas weren’t small, they weren’t particularly large, either. If two people were to share one, one person would end up somewhat sitting on top of the other person’s lap.

“Hey, what did he say?!”

“Yuder, let us at him!”

“...”

“Hinn, Finn, why are you both silent? Is everything alright?” asked Kanna.

“Everything’s fine!” they said abruptly. “Totally fine!”

“How old are you, anyway? You look too young to work here,” Kishiar said after finally turning back to see Yuder.

“I’m thirty-one.”

Yuder wasn’t surprised by his question. Despite his expressionless face and scary eyes making others immediately afraid of him, he was also consistently mistaken for someone a decade younger.

“Ah, you’re older than me,” he said faintly. As he drank the champagne in one sip, Kishiar’s eyes widened in a way that made it look like he was experiencing an epiphany.

“Maybe we should’ve listened to Yuder…”

A real waitress passed by with small plates full of strawberry tarts topped with whipped cream. Dark eyes unknowingly followed the tray until it stopped right next to Kishiar.

With a smile that felt happy about something, Kishiar grabbed one and passed it to Yuder.

Not wanting to mention that he wasn’t really hungry, Yuder just slipped his mask partially off and used the tiny fork given to him to eat the tart. Too busy eating, he didn’t notice how cream landed on his bottom lip.

Only red eyes that darkened took notice.

“I can’t help but feel bad for him now,” Hinn whispered.

After finishing the tart, Yuder waited for Kishiar to continue the conversation, but someone ended up bumping into him from the left, causing Yuder to somewhat fall into Kishiar’s chest.

Two gasps came out of the earpiece.

Using it to his advantage, he pressed even close to him and slid a hand inside his jacket, tucking his head underneath his chin to hide his hand from view.

As he pulled his hand away with something clutched in his fingers, a large hand ran up his spine, preventing him from moving away. Freezing, Yuder thought he had blown his cover, and pressed his hand against his chest to hide what he stole.

Red eyes closed as a beautiful face, with eyebrows furrowed in frustration, leaned down to smell Yuder’s hair, the scent of ripe fruit causing him to feel somewhat intoxicated. “You…”

“Yudrein! What are you doing?! Get back to work!”

A disgruntled yet handsome man in a suit yanked Yuder by the collar like a mother cat wrangling her unruly kitten without acknowledging Kishiar and led him to the other side of the club.

“What were you going to do if I didn’t get here?!” scolded Enon. “You can’t even hide anything you get with what you’re wearing!”

“That’s why I brought my gloves,” Yuder said calmly. “I could also use the wind to carry anything too big to Hinn and Finn.”

“Just because you’re powerful doesn’t mean you’re infallible,” he ranted. “You’re not alone, so stop acting like you are.”

“Thank you, but I had it under control,” Yuder insisted.

“Is that all you’re going to say?!”

“Thank you, big brother.”

Enon’s face relaxed and he quit talking as he led them outside. Since he hated riding motorcycles, Enon had come in their preferred getaway car, but Yuder didn’t want to leave the bike behind, so after Hinn and Finn were safely seated in the backseat, he booked it out of there.

When the car was making a turn, the backdoor of the club slammed open, revealing a beautiful, tall man who had a refreshing scent. Intense red eyes looked around until it spotted a familiar figure in all-black.

“Wait--”

Yuder, wearing the helmet Ever left on the seat, raised his leg to straddle the bike and floored it.

Kishiar la Orr stood there, watching as the man who had somehow made his heart warm and flutter disappeared from view.
