Work Text:

It was the most natural thing in the world.

To be in the tightness of his arms, basked in his presence and warmth. To be cradled firmly, yet with all the love in the universe.

The little glances they shared as they stroll with friends, or as they munched down her grandma’s cooking.

Banter and arguments were no stranger as well, since it flowed easily out of them. Her endless teasing and his equally endless attempts to obviously keep himself together were amusing. She would often wonder how he stuck with her given how she was, was he ever annoyed at all? But with his vast stores of patience, she stopped wondering altogether. In the end, as quick as it happens–it is as quick to be resolved.

It was the most natural thing in the world.

When their skins touch in the heat of battle, it was a sort of transfer of energy to motivate him to go on. Knowing that she was still there allowed him to look forward to another day.

To be holding her hand in his, palms touched and fingers intertwined as they walked through early morning streets. Tired, but relieved, with each other to lean on as they trudged back home.

To breathe her scent as she pulled him into her embrace, the sweetness that was entirely her no matter what situation they were in. It makes his heart flutter.

The longing gaze he held as she bid a "See you tomorrow!" And the rush of joy in his heart to see her smile to greet him in the morning. Her playful bumps against his shoulder to capture his attention, and the roundness of her cheeks when she pouted, all of it he accepts all too gratefully.

It was the most natural thing in the world.

His aura's glow even when she shut her eyes closed, its brightness she could hold in her hands in hopes that perhaps her warmth encompasses his very being.

The way he lifts her ever so easily now in whatever form he was in. His strong grip on her bare skin that leaves her wanting when he lets go.

The construction of his words which he made sure would come across for her to understand no matter how hot headed she may be. It was a learned skill to be able to do so when it comes to her, and he had mastered the art of it.

The taste of his true name on her tongue which still makes her all flustered, perhaps she could still work on that. Then again, the way his eyes light up when she calls him by the name she made up for him all her own would never cease to have her stomach run rampant with butterflies.

-----

It was the most natural thing in the world.

The echoes of her laugh in the halls and in the house, the sound bouncing off along to the beat of his heart. He may not have listened to music much, but if her voice was one, it would be his favorite song.

Whenever she lays her chin on his shoulder, amber stares burning into his periphery to get something out of him, he can't help but feel heat rise to his face, was it tomato-esque? He hoped not, but nonetheless, no matter the reason for her glare, he would for sure try to fix it.

It was the most natural thing in the world.

Lying together on their shared bed, cuddled, with their arms and legs entwined as if they were one. The years that had passed were evident in the creases on their faces, most tracing the corners of their eyes and mouths.

“This was sooo worth it,” Momo sighed against the fabric of his shirt.

Ken's now rough hand gently caressed her hair, “You say that every single day.”

“Because I still think so,” she snuggled further into his chest, “And I will for the rest of my life.”

He shifted slightly to look at her. Tilting her head up to him, she grinned at the sight before her.

Like when they were still kids, his face was flushed red.

Momo crawled a little upwards and kissed him softly on the lips.

“Dork.”

Ken tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, still blushing hard, “You still tease me, Momo.

Before they could kiss again, the faint patter of tiny footsteps running outside their door interrupted their almost-canoodling.

"The kids are awake."

She pouted, giving him her signature puppy-dog eyes, "Five more minutes?"

Ken hummed and thought for a bit, then kissed her forehead, "No, but let's continue this later."

"Aww..."

For them, it was the most natural thing in the world.

To simply love, and loving in turn.
