I felt sore all over, I didn't even want to open my eyes they felt heavy, I heard some voices around me but I couldn't understand what they were saying, I was lying on something hard and cumbersome, it was killing my back but this was a thousand times better than standing I feel like if I got up I would fall face down on the floor, with so much effort I opened my eyes and found myself facing a bright light, I turned my face to the sides to avoid it, I felt my face and my body with some bandages, my mind exploded with memories, the fight, Penny, what happened?
It seemed like I was lying on the locker table, I turned my face to the other side, where the door was and I could see my sister talking to my girlfriend and friends, Maria noticed my eyes immediately and gave me a smile, Cinder looked indifferent.
" Tired of sleeping? " Maria spoke with a humorous tone, everyone turned around to look at me and immediately my sister approached me with big tearful eyes like those of a cute puppy.
" You had me so worry Ruby! " My sister, not caring about her condition, hugged me immediately, lifting me up a little from the table. My arms felt weak and like they were going to break at any moment, but I still hugged my sister back.
" Sorry " My mouth felt dry, my sister let go of me and let Weiss come in so she could give me a hug too, my wonderful girlfriend was much more careful but still gave me a big hug and a kiss on my forehead, she looked at me with eyes full of love, did she think the same about my eyes too? I hope so.
" Don't do that again, I never want to see you fall to the floor " I gently took her hand and gave it a small squeeze and gave her a small but understanding smile, if Weiss didn't want to see me lose and fall on the ground I will NEVER fall again even if I fight against someone impossible I will never fall to the ground.
" I won't, I promise " We separated and I gave a big hug to my other friends who came to support me, Cinder just patted me on the back, Maria had a big smile, I won, I guess that's why.
" You were so awesome Ruby! Like you were doing all this crazy things and trowing punches so cool " Jaune told me excitedly while imitating the Dempsey Roll, a very risky move that I had researched and practiced as a counterattack method against Penny, better safe than sorry, although it is an excellent maneuver its usefulness and power depend on the boxer, it is not easy to use the Dempsey Roll, much less to be able to use it at a key moment, it is more of a roll of the dice that fortunately played in my favor.
" Talking about moves, what was that Ruby? " Blake asked while pointing at Jaune who was still excitedly practicing and recreating moments of my fight.
" A counterattack on Penny, I was very nervous so I researched a way to defeat her, the Dempsey roll was the best idea of all " Considering who my next opponent is, once I pass the round I'm going to need much more than a clever move, Coco Adel, the girl has tremendous strength and agility. If I thought Penny was the woman of steel, Adel is a bear made woman, there are rumors that say she actually managed to defeat a bear with her own fists, knocking it out. If that's true, I have to train harder to face her.
" Well it was very impressive " Pyrrha told me with quite a bit of pride in her voice.
" I will need much more to defeat Coco Adel " I looked at my fists which I clenched tightly, remembering who my next opponent would be.
" You should go home and rest kid you need it, once you are recovered we will talk about Adel " Maria told me while patting me on the back softer than Cinder's, she gave me a calm smile and I let myself sink a little into my feelings of happiness at managing to defeat Penny.
" Alright... so, how do we explain to dad this? " My sister remarked while moving her hands pointing at my face which I do not doubt was quite beaten.
" Tell him Ruby fell of the stairs " Jaune said it seemed like a good idea, I mean it could be the most believable.
" Let's hope that works " My sister said as she handed me my backpack with my change of clothes, I think I could use some help.
" Uh... Yang can you help me change, I'm kinda in pain " My sister thought for a moment and looked at Weiss and turned to see me... I don't like this very much.
" Weiss you know since you are my sister girlfriend you can help her change " Yang said in a mocking tone, my face immediately turned red, I refused to look at Weiss.
" Yang! " My sister laughed loudly and took my backpack and helped me get up from the table and let me lean on her.
" Okay Okay I got you " After my sister helped me change, she left me next to Weiss who also let me lean on her, I put my arm around her neck and she put her arm around my waist, I blushed because of being so close to her, even though she was my girlfriend I couldn't help it.
Soon we all left the locker room where I found Penny waiting outside her room along with her coach Pietro.
" Friend Ruby it's good to see you are awake! I was waiting for an hour for you, I was meaning to ask you for your phone number, I want to be in contact with you friend! " Penny spoke quickly while looking at me with big, happy eyes.
" Sure... " I dictated my phone number to her, which she wrote down on her cell phone.
" Thank you friend Ruby! I can't wait to fight again I hope you recover fast! See you " Penny quickly walked back to her dad and waved goodbye.
" Bye " I waved back, after the little chat with Penny we walked back towards Blake's car, we started joking along the way about anything and everything and I felt much better than before, my body still hurt but talking to my friends, sister and girlfriend made me feel much lighter.
Pyrrha left in her own car and gave Jaune a ride, which he accepted with difficulty, barely able to speak from nerves. Yang just told him, ' Go get her Tiger '.
We soon arrived at Blake's car which meant I had to say goodbye to Weiss.
" Go home safe Ruby, text me when you get there " We separated and I stood face to face with her, I huffed a little and gave her a quick, tender kiss, the truth is I didn't even want to leave.
" Can't you come with me? " She laughed a little and gave me a hug, hiding her face in my neck.
" I would love too but I have to go home " I just tightened my hug on her, when I was planning to let go my sister intervened.
" Ugh I'm tired of your clingy asses, Ruby go with Weiss and do a sleepover I don't know something like that, no night activities alright? " I separated from Weiss and ignored Yang's comment about nocturnal activities, which had nothing to do with it.
" You sure? " Weiss looked a little excited at the idea of me coming to her house, I was too.
" Yes, I avoid dad's scolding when he sees you and you spend time with your girlfriend, we kill two birds with one stone " I hugged my sister and Blake goodbye and went our separate ways.
" Remember no funny business! " Yang screamed to the four winds, which embarrassed me, fortunately there weren't many people around to hear her or maybe they ignored my sister's scream.
We ignored Yang's comment and went to Weiss's car, it was very different from Blake's, well that's to be expected but I'm referring to the interior of the car, Blake's car is clean but Weiss's was neat, no defects and it was perfect, it looked brand new, fresh from the company.
" How do you even manage to keep it this clean? " I said as I stared in amazement at the interior of the car. I felt very uncomfortable sitting down. What if I got it dirty? It would cost a fortune to clean. I stayed as still as possible to make sure I didn't get anything dirty.
" Lot's of work, don't worry about it " We soon began the journey to Weiss's house. It wasn't long, or so I thought. I was spellbound while I watched and listened to Weiss speak. I think I could do it all day if I could. If there was a competition to see who could stand looking at Weiss the longest, I would be the undefeated champion of this sport.
When I arrived at Weiss's apartment I still felt nervous like the first time I came, we went up to her floor and were received very warmly.
" Snowflake good to know you are back and with Ms. Rose I see " I came face to face with a short man, with brown hair and an incredible mustache, he was dressed formally and emanated an aura of formality just as he spoke and looked, I want to assume he is Klein, Weiss's caretaker, she had already told me about him.
" H-Hi Sir. " Very nervously, I raised my hand to shake his hand. He accepted it and gave it a firm squeeze. I stood stiff in my place.
The gentleman inspected my face but let us in shortly after. I felt uncomfortable in the presence of Weiss's guardian. I mean... he's like her father, I must have his approval if I want to be accepted as Weiss's partner.
Soon Klein led us to the dining room for dinner, still just as stiff, not wanting to do anything wrong in front of him.
" If you don't mind me asking Miss Rose, why are you hurt? " There was a tone of genuine doubt, so far so good, he didn't seem bothered that I was there and he seemed informed about my relationship with Weiss, I guess.
" I am a boxer, had a fight and well my face was quite the boxing bag " I gave an awkward smile. Weiss and Klein just stared at me...
" I'm gonna go change you two should get to know eachother " Weiss gave me a loving smile and kissed me on the forehead, got up and went to her room, leaving me alone with Klein, I started playing with my hands.
" Miss Rose " I stopped playing with my hands and gave my full attention to Klein.
" Yes? " My nerves were at a thousand percent just hearing my last name.
" What are your plans with Weiss? " Damn, I knew he was going to question me, he's like her dad!
" I plan to give her everything of me, my whole life if I must, I want to have a future with her, protect her, take care of her and love her " I gave him a straight face to prove my point, I don't see my future without Weiss by my side and I plan to give her the best I can, it may not be enough but I'll make damn sure to try.
" That's good to know " Klein seemed to calm down immediately, I felt more confident than before, it seems he wanted to make sure I was a good person for Weiss.
" You two okay? " Weiss came back in her pajamas and sat back down next to me.
" Of course Snowflake, I'm going to start serving dinner, okay? " We started to have dinner this time in a more friendly way, Klein started to ask how we met, school and other things, he is a very kind man once I managed to get on his good side, after dinner I tried to help wash the dishes but Klein kicked me out immediately, I had to rest according to him, sleeping doesn't sound like a bad idea.
" Um... I can sleep on the couch " I said to Weiss who was leading me to her room.
" No way you are hurt, you need good sleep " Weiss's room was spacious, clean and tidy, it was impressive the level of discipline my girlfriend had in keeping her room in this shape.
" So... I can sleep in you bed? You sure? " Weiss gave me a smile and guided me to her bed.
" Im sure, I want you rested " I lay down on one side of Weiss's bed, before I could think about it I fell asleep, Weiss's bed was very comfortable, it seemed made of a cloud.
" Goodnight Ruby, I love you " I heard my girlfriend whisper, I felt Weiss's hands run through my hair softly, I had never slept as well as I did now, I could stay like this forever.
" I love you too Weiss " I love her so much, so much that I feel like I can't breathe without her.
Just her, only her.
