Summary:

"Mark only touched him in San Francisco now, when he felt like it. When he was bored of other people or when he wanted someone who knew how to kiss him the way he liked and make him laugh when the sex was over and they rolled over and went back to being best friends. Sometimes, Mark had someone else, but Donghyuck came anyway because he liked it too much when Mark asked for him."

Mark and Donghyuck figure out their messy, sometimes totally fucked situationship over eighteen months in San Francisco. Mark thinks about the straight and narrow but can't remember how to stay on the supposedly righteous path. Donghyuck tries to live in a new city and remember all the reasons that he shouldn't give his heart to Mark, looking to new friends for lessons in how to grow up and move on.

Notes:

It's not necessary to read the rest of the series, though the stories are interconnected. Mark and Johnny are roommates in San Francisco. Donghyuck grew up with Mark. Johnny was there, too, but old enough to be out of their mess. Johnny is dating Ten, who lives in Vegas.

Doyoung and Jungwoo are cousins. Jungwoo is new to the Bay Area. He has a thing with Jaehyun, which is the main thrust of Downtempo.

And that's most of what you missed in 138.

Chapter Text

Donghyuck stepped off the bus at the stupidly fancy depot in downtown San Francisco and wondered if Mark would ever appreciate the shit that Donghyuck went through for him. He put his bag on his shoulder and thought, probably not. Mark wouldn’t think that much of coming up from LA for a visit because Mark didn’t take 8 hour bus rides up the I-5. Mark took airplanes because Mark had money – or his parents gave him money – and Donghyuck had neither. When Mark called him up and said, “ yo , Johnny’s hooking us up with tix for Illenium, you wanna come up,” Mark never considered how, exactly, Donghyuck was going to come up, he just knew that Donghyuck would.

And he was right. Mark called and Donghyuck answered. Mark said come and Donghyuck asked, how many times, babe , and then gave up shifts that he probably needed so he could get on a bus and haul his ass up to this city that Mark loved so much.

Mark was romantic over San Francisco. Donghyuck was romantic over Mark.

It had been a few months since he’d been here last, but the city was still cold, still gray. San Francisco didn’t care that it was June. That it was supposedly summer. Donghyuck had never really seen the appeal but then he’d never seen much of the appeal of LA either. Cities were cities, unless, of course, they were Fresno or Bakersfield. He wasn’t like Mark. He didn’t give a shit about the way light filtered through the fog or how pretty the Golden Gate Bridge was on a perfectly sunny day. He could vibe just about anywhere, as long as the company was good and there was at least one decent dive bar where even a broke bitch could afford a strong drink. Mark loved San Francisco. Claimed that it reignited the love for music that Los Angeles had slowly put out because Los Angeles was so basic and too familiar.

Donghyuck had always thought that was crap. Even when he’d been seventeen and upset that Mark had given up a great school like UCLA for a less great one just because “needed to be inspired again.” He’d always suspected that Mark wasn’t looking for inspiration so much as he was distance. Enough distance to be out of his parents’ reach, to do the kind of shit with other people that he’d done with Donghyuck in the bedroom that Donghyuck shared with his younger brother when his younger brother wasn’t at home. Mark had never once touched him in his own house.

Mark only touched him in San Francisco now, when he felt like it. When he was bored of other people or when he wanted someone who knew how to kiss him the way he liked and make him laugh when the sex was over and they rolled over and went back to being best friends. They didn’t always fuck when Donghyuck came to town. Sometimes, Mark had someone else, but Donghyuck came anyway because he liked it too much when Mark asked for him.

Donghyuck stood outside of the Transbay Terminal and looked at his watch. He’d been awake since 6am. He’d come a long way and a little bit further to go. Another glorious ride on public transit because Mark didn’t have a car and Mark kind of expected Donghyuck to take care of himself because Donghyuck had been taking care of himself since he was seven. He walked down the street towards the Muni and thought about the nap he was going to take as soon as he got to Mark’s place. If someone was in Mark’s bed, he’d crawl into Johnny’s. He’d heard that Johnny had a new man – which was novel and fun – but Johnny had been a pushover for Donghyuck since Donghyuck was fourteen, especially when he thought his pseudo little brother Mark was being mean.

Donghyuck stepped onto the M train and sagged into one of the red plastic seats. He was fucking done with traveling for the day. He checked his phone. His little sister wanted to know if he’d washed her soccer outfit before he’d bounced out of town. Donghyuck told her yes. He’d cut up the oranges for the game and left them in the fridge for her, too. His manager wanted to know if he liked being employed because he was this close to losing said employment if he kept dumping shifts at the last minute. Donghyuck decided he would deal with her later. It was easier to wheedle in person. There was a message from Mark asking if Donghyuck had brought any candy with him because he had a really good friend who wanted to try it out for the first time.

Donghyuck did have some. Stuffed in his socks in the bottom of his travel bag. He’d brought it just in case Mark was feeling particularly adventurous this close to the end of the school year. He loved fucking Mark when Mark was rolling. Mark was never sweeter than when he was a little bit high, running his hands up and down Donghyuck’s thighs and telling him that he tasted like honey.

He’d brought it for Mark but he was game to share. Mark had good taste in “really good friends.” Donghyuck didn’t mind sharing those either. It was only practical. If he wanted to be with Mark, he had to go where Mark was – San Francisco, EDM shows on a Saturday night, to bed with other people.

Donghyuck told Mark that he had what Mark needed. I’ll take care of you , Donghyuck wrote, you know I’ve always got what you want.

Mark didn’t write back. It didn’t matter. Donghyuck was almost there anyway. A few stops to go and then he’d find out what it was Mark would want from him this time.

~~

“What do you think?” Mark shouted over the thumping bass of whatever DJ was playing fluffer for the main act.

Mark’s eyes were bright and wide, his cheeks flush from the three shots of Johnny’s good tequila that Donghyuck had liberated from its prison two doors down from Mark and Johnny’s kitchen sink. Johnny had been too busy doing whatever with his new man to notice that Donghyuck was helping himself to Johnny’s stash of the good shit, the stuff he set aside for birthdays. Donghyuck understood. Johnny’s man was hot. Hotter than Johnny, that was for damned sure. He would have let Ten lock him in a bedroom anytime.

Donghyuck reeled his thoughts back in. He was tired despite sleeping for two hours in a bed that smelled like Mark and no one else, and the tequila made his brain feel loose.

“What do I think about what?” Donghyuck asked, winding his arm around Mark’s waist so he couldn’t lose him in the crowd. He hadn’t schlepped up the state and stood in the security line for thirty minutes just to hang out with Doyoung or, god forbid, Yuta for the rest of the night.

“Jungwoo.”

Mark’s fingers were up the back of Donghyuck’s shirt but his gaze was on Jungwoo, who was swaying to the music a few feet away, smiling at something that Yuta was saying while leaning on Doyoung, who was apparently Jungwoo’s cousin or some shit. Donghyuck knew that Jungwoo was the new kid in town, the one that half the friend circle had fallen for at least a little bit. He’d heard from Mark about what Jungwoo had gotten up to with Mark and Yuta, Mark bragging to him about popping one of Jungwoo’s cherries – his first time in the middle of a threesome, taking it front and back. He’d heard a little bit later that Jungwoo had jumped on Jaehyun’s dick, too, and by the looks of it, Jaehyun was hoping that Jungwoo might wanna come back around and take another ride.

Donghyuck was impressed. Jungwoo was a busy guy, getting a doctorate, getting dicked down on the reg.

“He’s cute,” Donghyuck said, because it was true. “Sweet. Energetic.”

Jungwoo was very cute. And funny. Donghyuck would have liked him even if Mark wasn’t asking him to. Donghyuck put his face in the hollow of Mark’s shoulder and breathed him in. Soap and cologne, not yet the tang of sweat or the smoke from the cigarettes that Donghyuck always ended up having on nights like this.

“Right? He’s got total puppy vibes, still,” Mark said, all excited like he was showing off his pet to Donghyuck. “Even after like almost a year up here, he’s so…fresh. He goes to Berkeley but he kinda grew up like you, I think.”

“Grew up like me, huh? What does that mean?”

Donghyuck knew exactly what Mark meant. But he wanted to make Mark say it. Mark could be such a clueless prick about these kinds of things. He’d been that was since he was thirteen and trying to pretend like he wasn’t shocked to discover that he could be friends with someone who actually lived in the rundown apartments on the very very edge of a school district that had been trying to carve out that one last undesirable street for years.

“You know,” Mark hedged, his feet shifting between the spread of Donghyuck’s legs. “Like, his mom worked a lot of jobs. He had to go to community college before he could transfer to CSU and all that.”

“Ooooh,” Donghyuck drawled, “you mean he grew up poor.”

“Working class!”

“That’s what rich people call poor people to make themselves feel better.”

Donghyuck reached up to caress Mark’s cheek, chasing the feeling of his cringing regret beneath his fingertips.  Donghyuck’s mom worked a lot of jobs. His father had a few jobs and a few kids. Donghyuck was going to community college. Still. Even though Mark was a year away from graduating from his 4+1. Donghyuck had never really cared about any of that. He knew what he was capable of even if no one else did. Donghyuck took a second look at Mark’s current favorite. Jungwoo was looking up at the flashing lights now, a little awestruck and pretty in his obvious, unfiltered enjoyment. Donghyuck liked his smile. He really was cute.

He understood why Mark had slept with him. Maybe not why he’d needed Yuta to do it the first time, but definitely why he’d kept doing it for the last few months. There had been a brief moment when he’d wondered if it was more than just fucking around with the pretty new guy in town, when Mark had gone off to Vegas with Jungwoo instead of spending spring break balls deep in Donghyuck like usual. But Mark had assured Donghyuck that it was all just fun, that Jungwoo was just looking for fun.

“Well, Markly, what do you say?” Donghyuck clung tighter, like a bear to a tree and started to shuffle Mark towards the loose huddle of Mark’s friends, who were also kind of his friends after all these years of hauling his ass to San Francisco and sleeping on every single one of their couches at some point in time. “Should we take your poor new friend and give him a taste of something good?”

“Yeah,” Mark murmured, his hand sliding further up Donghyuck’s shirt, grinning down at him with the approval Donghyuck was smart enough to know he didn’t need but weak enough to want. “Let’s show him what’s good.”

~~

“I’ve never done this before,” Jungwoo said and Donghyuck didn’t have the heart to tell him that it was really obvious, given the giggling and the nervous tapping of his foot on the bathroom floor.

It was crowded in the stall. Mark had stolen Jungwoo away from Doyoung while Doyoung was looking at a guy who was definitely way too pretty for him. Donghyuck said they really didn’t need to go in – they weren’t trying to do lines, just putting a cute little tab on the tongue and then going on their merry way – but Mark thought it added to the vibes, so in they went.

“Just enjoy the trip,” Donghyuck said, taking out the little baggie he’d brought up from LA. Jungwoo’s pretty eyes were wide with excitement. Mark was licking his lips like he was excited, too, like he thought he was going to get something out of this. He still wondered, sometimes, if Mark maybe liked Jungwoo just a touch too much. “Here.” Donghyuck took the little red pill stamped with a heart and held it in front of Jungwoo’s plush lips. “Open up, sugar, and I’ll give you some candy.”

“Don’t worry, Hyuck always has the good stuff,” Mark said, his hand curling around the back of Jungwoo’s neck, his other arm draped over Donghyuck’s shoulders. “You’ll have fun.”

Jungwoo stuck out his tongue and Donghyuck let him have it, let him have what he’d brought for Mark. He leaned into Mark’s side and watched Jungwoo close his mouth, watched the way he smiled like he needed to put on a show, to somehow pay them back for the treat.

“When will I feel it?” Jungwoo asked, his tongue dyed a deeper, darker red now.

Donghyuck shrugged. This shit was good so it would probably hit quick. “Thirty minutes, maybe? Sometimes faster?”

“How will I know? What’s it like?”

“You’ll know.” Mark laughed and slid closer to Jungwoo, dragging Donghyuck with him because his hand was still in Donghyuck’s pocket, fingers playing with Donghyuck’s vape. “What’s it like? Everything feels better,” Mark said, his smile as sweet now as it was when he was reading out a Bible verse. “Kissing, it’s like..I don’t even know. Like just, more. You know?”

Donghyuck could see the game now. He was pretty sure that Jungwoo could too. Jungwoo might be new to drugs, but Donghyuck could tell he wasn’t new to Mark, to the way that Mark tried to pull. Jungwoo was looking at Mark like he didn’t mind, like he was letting himself be as charmed as everyone else. Mark probably had no idea. Mark always thought that he was one step ahead, that he was the one in charge of his very special, very manifested destiny.  Jungwoo was fun. Donghyuck really did like him.

“He doesn’t know, Sparkly Markly,” Donghyuck sing-songed, deciding to help out. He’d come all this way. Mark would want him to play along and Jungwoo had tossed him a wink, as if he and Donghyuck were actually the ones on the same team. Jungwoo was fun. Donghyuck was really starting to like him.  “This is his first time.”

“That’s right,” Jungwoo said, leaning against the stall door and smiling. “I’d need to establish a baseline for comparison sake. That’s just good science, after all.”  Jungwoo’s warm gaze flicked over both of their faces as he rubbed his chin, considering, considering. Donghyuck fluttered his lashes because he’d always liked having a good scene partner. “I know we just met,” Jungwoo said, reaching out the hand that had been the prop in his mad professor routine, “but –”

“I got you.”

Donghyuck stepped forward, stepped into the hand that Jungwoo flattened on his chest, dragging Mark along with him. Mark’s hand was massaging his thigh through his pants and Donghyuck knew he was going to get laid later, whenever Mark was done playing games with all of his friends.

Jungwoo’s lips were soft. He tasted like lip balm and the last of the molly. His kiss was playful and sweet and Donghyuck could tell from the first touch that Jungwoo knew what he was doing. Mark’s chin was sharp on his shoulder, digging into his skin. Donghyuck hoped he was enjoying the show. Donghyuck was enjoying the curl of Jungwoo’s tongue, the little flick of it just behind his teeth. He bet Jungwoo was great at giving head. He wouldn’t mind finding out, one day, but not tonight.

Tonight he wanted to cash in on the way Mark was grinding into him, pushing his half-hard dick into Donghyuck’s ass and breathing heavily into his throat while Donghyuck wet his lips with Jungwoo’s kiss. Tonight, he wanted Mark to kiss him goodnight.

Forty minutes and two drinks later, Donghyuck could tell that Jungwoo was rolling. Mark had his arms around Jungwoo’s waist and Jungwoo was staring up at the ceiling like he’d never seen it before, so lost in the light show that he’d stopped dancing. Donghyuck laughed and got in Jungwoo’s face, asked him if he wanted another kiss so he could complete his experiment but Jungwoo shook his head and said:

“I love you so much, but I need to go.”

“Sure, cutie, go do what you need to do,” Donghyuck said, happy enough to be loved, even if the love was more chemistry than reality. He would have been happy enough to kiss Jungwoo again, but he was also happy enough to send him off with a meaningless, “I love you too.”

Easy come, easy go. That was Donghyuck’s philosophy about most things, but especially about a night about the club with the boys. Nothing was serious on the dance floor.

Mark put up a little bit of a fight but Jungwoo was out of his arms before the end of the song, rubbing Mark’s chest and telling him that he needed to find Jaehyun. Jungwoo disappeared into the crowd, high as a kite and just as fun, leaving Donghyuck alone with Mark for the first time since he’d woken up from his nap to find Mark stroking his hair and humming a lullaby under his breath. Donghyuck hated when he did shit like that. Touched him like he loved him. He’d liked it once upon a time, back when he was still naive enough to think it could mean something.

“He’s cute,” Donghyuck said, taking advantage of Mark’s sudden lack of Jungwoo to slide his knee between Mark’s thighs and pick up the pace, to remind Mark that he was good at dancing, good at kissing, good at giving head, too. “I like him.”

“Jungwoo’s great.” Mark grinned and put his hand on Donghyuck’s ass, squeezing his left cheek. “Really great.”

“What about me?” Donghyuck kissed Mark’s throat because he could, because Mark was tilting his head to the side like he wanted it, like he wanted the attention Donghyuck had to give. Donghyuck had been waiting all night. He’d been waiting for months. He wanted to know if Mark had been waiting at all, even just a little bit. “Am I great?”

“Yeah, dude, you’re alright.”

Mark ruffled his hair like Donghyuck was still fifteen and hadn’t yet touched every part of Mark Lee’s body. It was easier to retaliate than it was to feel hurt. To be annoying than to be upset. Donghyuck slipped his fingers into Mark’s hair and pulled until it was at least one part of Mark he could fuck up and leave a mess.

~~

He was over it by the time they stumbled into Mark’s apartment, kicking off their shoes and doing a pisspoor job of trying to be quiet. He never stayed mad for long. Life was too short, Mark was Mark, and Donghyuck had better things to do than be hurt by the same shit Mark had been doing since they were teenagers. Mark was the one who pouted. Who got stuck and had a hard time moving on when he thought he was right, when he’d made up his mind about something.

Donghyuck put his hand over Mark’s mouth as they walked through the living room because he wanted to listen, wanted to see what kind of stamina Johnny had, hours after Johnny and Ten had very obviously left the concert to go home and fuck. The place was silent. Donghyuck was kind of disappointed. Mark said that they got really loud. Louder than the white noise machine he’d been forced to buy because hearing Johnny get his rocks off was kind of weird. Donghyuck wanted to hear it both for his own enjoyment but also so he could try and imitate Johnny’s wild monkey sex noises whenever Johnny was giving him a hard time.

Mark went to take a shower, which Donghyuck took as a sign in his favor. While Mark showered, Donghyuck went through Johnny’s pantry and poured himself a bowl of Johnny’s cereal because Johnny’s taste was better than Mark’s when it came to food. He sat on the counter and took a look around. The kitchen never changed. Probably because no one ever cooked. Donghyuck thought about how nice it must have been to be able to not know how to cook because there had always been someone else to do it or enough money to live off of take-out and restaurants. He ate Johnny’s Chex and remembered how once upon a time it had been so easy to impress Mark just by making him a fried egg or a decent sandwich.

The bathroom door opened and Mark’s bedroom door closed. Donghyuck poured himself a little more cereal, a little more milk, just enough to have the energy to do what he’d come here to do.

Another door opened. Donghyuck laughed. This place was turning into Grand Central station. He waved at Johnny and smiled when Johnny looked at his box of cereal sitting and rolled his eyes. Johnny was such a pushover. Donghyuck loved him a lot.

“Can I have some?”

“Sure,” Donghyuck said, patting the space next to him for his bare-faced, sleepy-eyed Mark. Mark was at his most dangerous like this. Soft and sweet, sitting next to Donghyuck and opening his mouth when Donghyuck made the airplane sound and landed the spoon in a giggling hangar. “Is it yummy?”

Mark licked milk off his lips and nodded. “So good.”

Donghyuck gave him another bite because Mark was looking at him like Donghyuck was personally responsible for having made a bowl of cereal extra delicious. It was cute. Mark was cute and Donghyuck was easy.

The bowl was almost empty and Johnny was back, looming in the doorway and doing his best daddy-bit, giving Donghyuck the third degree over Jungwoo. Mark, the asshole, played the innocent, the way he always did when Johnny or his mom or his dad or anyone with an ounce of authority was in the room.  As if he wasn’t the one who pulled Jungwoo into that bathroom stall, as if he was just soooo shocked when Donghyuck said he’d sleep with Jungwoo, too, if given half the chance, when Mark had whispered in his ear that next time Donghyuck came to visit they should take Jungwoo home.

“You always let me take the blame,” Donghyuck said when Johnny had gone back into his room, back to the guy he liked enough to ditch a good time early. Mark swallowed the last spoonful of cereal and blinked at Donghyuck like he had no idea what Donghyuck was talking about. “Don’t try that fake innocent shit with me, Marky.” Donghyuck flicked him on the nose with the spoon. “I know you too well to fall for it.”

“Then why do you let me get away with it?” Mark slid off the counter and pushed Donghyuck’s knees open. His smile wasn’t so innocent now, his voice just on the edge of the nasty that Donghyuck knew he shouldn’t like but did anyway. “If you know so much better?”

“You know why,” Donghyuck murmured. He used to like it when Mark wanted to hear all of the reasons Donghyuck let him get away with murder. He used to like telling Mark how much he loved him, how he didn’t care if people thought that Donghyuck was a bad influence because he liked that he knew all of Mark’s secrets. He didn’t feel like sharing tonight. He’d suck Mark’s dick, but he was too tired to fluff his ego. He put down the bowl and opened his arms. “I know you know why.”

Donghyuck let Mark kiss him with lips that were still wet with milk, his head smacking against the cabinets as Mark pressed between his thighs and crowded into his chest, kissing him with enough intent that Donghyuck wondered if they were going to fuck in the kitchen. He’d do it. He’d let Mark bend him over and take him over a kitchen sink that could have used a good scrub, not caring if Johnny or Johnny’s hot boyfriend came in. He’d take the blame for that too.

“Here?” Donghyuck asked, already sliding down off the counter, ready to go ahead and get on his knees. His day had been so long. His buzz was wearing off. He never knew when Mark was going to stop wanting him. “You want it here?”

“Nah. Let’s go to bed, babe,” Mark said, smiling magnanimously, calling him babe like it was going to be enough to make Donghyuck forgive and forget.

Donghyuck followed where Mark went, into a bedroom that smelled like shampoo and Mark’s cologne and that was going to smell like sex before the night was done. His back hit the door and Mark was on him, not listening when Donghyuck put his lips on Mark’s ear and tried to ask for more:

“Call me that again. Call me yours.”

Donghyuck got on his knees, Mark’s rug so thin and worn he wished he’d grabbed a pillow off the bed before sinking down. Fake hardwood didn’t feel great on a good day, let alone when he’d danced for hours and travel in a cramped bus for hours before that. But Mark was hard from the jump, underwear catching on the head of dick when Donghyuck pulled them down and made Mark groan like no one had touched him forever, when he was pretty sure it had probably been days. A week or two at most. Donghyuck checked Grindr. Mark was always there. Hiding behind one of his spread-legged thirst trap photos without a face pic, bio that said he was “a good God-loving guy looking for new friends.”

Mark definitely loved God. Donghyuck knew that much to be true. New friends? Only if he was looking to blow a load in every wanna be friend’s mouth. Which maybe he was, given Mark’s thing for Jungwoo, his old thing for Yuta and his even older thing for Donghyuck.

Donghyuck sucked Mark deep and hard, down to take that load tonight, to let it be his throat that was coated in Mark Lee’s come before he got in Mark’s bed and waited to see if Mark would be into a little post coital snuggle. Donghyuck liked sucking Mark’s cock. Mark made lots of noise and told him nice things, petting Donghyuck’s hair and murmuring to him that only Donghyuck knew exactly how he liked it.

“I would hope so,” Donghyuck said, his voice rough from the lateness of the hour, the cigarette he’d bummed off of Yuta on the way out the door, and the enthusiasm Mark had for fucking his mouth. “I’ve only been doing it for like a hundred years.” He cupped Mark’s balls, rolled them in his palm and squeezed, just enough to make Mark sigh and say fuck, babe . “I’d be a really slow learner if I didn’t know by now.”

“You’re the fastest learner,” Mark said, looking down at him, his nighttime glasses slipping down the bridge of his nose. “You’re like the smartest person I know.”

“When it comes to giving head?”

Donghyuck spit in his hand and stroked Mark’s dick, twisting his wrist at the top and giving him a little something extra. Mark’s dick wasn’t huge, but it was pretty. Donghyuck liked the shape of it, the way he could wrap his fingers around it and have something left at the top.

“When it comes to everything.”

Mark put his hand on the top of Donghyuck’s head and pulled him forward. Donghyuck stuck out his tongue and let Mark slap it. He liked that kind of shit, the mildly degrading, the junior varsity level dom. It hadn’t taken him long to figure that out, either. Good guy Mark who wanted to do such dirty things to his bestest friend.  Donghyuck loosened his jaw and breathed through his nose, letting Mark curl his fingers in Donghyuck’s hair and fuck his throat. Mark watched him. Donghyuck looked back. He liked it when Mark saw him, when Mark knew who it was that was hollowing out their cheeks and sucking hard, moaning around his dick like it tasted great and felt even better.

“You’re too good,” Mark sighed, head tipping back as he came with a low, rumbling groan. “I couldn’t last, sorry, baby, I needed you too much.”

Donghyuck stood up on legs that were stiff, with knees that hurt and kissed Mark on his pretty little liar mouth, giving him a taste of his load to stop him from talking. Mark complained but took it because he was always persuadable after coming. Donghyuck pushed him down onto the bed and straddled Mark’s nice waist, pulling up his shirt and reaching down to pinch on nipple.

“Let me fuck you in the morning,” Mark said, reaching around Donghyuck’s hips to grab at his ass. “I’d do it now but I’m too tired to get it up again.”

“Who said I wanted you to fuck me?” Donghyuck unzipped his pants and got out his dick. He held his hand out to Mark and waited for Mark to get a clue and spit. “Maybe I wanna get all up in this.”

Mark let him inside, sometimes, every now and then. Donghyuck never knew if he was the only one or if Mark had other special friends who he called up when he was in the mood to blaspheme while he had a cock in his ass. He didn’t know if it would happen this trip. Mark’s desire to bottom came and went without any rhyme or reason. It was fine. Mark was a good enough top that Donghyuck didn’t mind getting fucked, but he sometimes resented the presumption.

Mark sat up on his elbows and offered himself up for a kiss, making it nice and wet before he turned and spit into Donghyuck’s hand. Donghyuck shoved down his underwear and started to stroke. It would have been better with lube but he never knew where Mark was going to hide it in his perfect good boy bedroom and he was too lazy to go hunting when it wasn’t going to take long before he covered Mark’s chest with his come.

“Just let me,” Mark said, laying back on his pillow with his arms crossed beneath his head, smiling at Donghyuck the same way he had since almost the first day they met. Sweet but stubborn, as certain of himself as Donghyuck had always been. “You know you’re going to, so don’t argue.” Mark murmured, taking Donghyuck’s free hand and sucking two of his fingers between his lips.

“It’s true,” Donghyuck sighed, watching his fingers slide over Mark’s tongue. He was going to let Mark fuck him. “You always get what you want.”

Mark’s smile deepened. His voice was soft and cloying. “And why is that?”

Donghyuck came with a muffled sound, his teeth digging into his bottom lip. Mark’s chest was sticky wet when he opened his eyes.

“You know why.”

Mark reached over to the bedside table and cleaned himself off with a handful of tissues before tossing them onto the floor and rolling Donghyuck to the mattress. He was so glad to be horizontal. The bed felt good. Mark wiping him off and tucking him into his underwear before pulling off his jeans felt good. He was so ready for sleep. It had been a long day and he had to get fucked tomorrow and then probably spend time with all of the guys because Mark couldn’t be away from them for like more than twenty-four hours.

“Yeah,” Mark said, pulling up the covers and turning onto his side, the light from the little lamp on his desk glinting off his glasses. “But I want to hear it.”

“So ask one of your new friends,” Donghyuck yawned, wishing that his heart didn’t still turn over at the thought that Mark wanted something from him. “I’m sure they’d be happy to tell you.”

“Please, babe,” Mark whispered, curling around Donghyuck’s body, playing dirty with the weight of his head on Donghyuck’s shoulder, his hair a little damp and smelling of the shampoo he’d used since they were kids. “It’s been so long.”

Donghyuck sighed. Mark got what Mark wanted. And despite himself, Donghyuck liked to give it to him. Long bus rides and kisses with pretty friends in bathroom stalls. The last bite of cereal. Blowjobs and taking the blame.

“Because I love you,” Donghyuck said, closing his eyes and imagining that they were back in LA, in the bedroom he still shared when his brother was home. He was seventeen and Mark was talking about the future, all the things they’d do together after Mark graduated. Before San Francisco. Before he was supposed to know better than to keep making the same mistake. “Because I’m yours.”
