“Cass! Cass!” Evan’s melodic voice echoed through the silent suit as he faded into view before Cassidy’s eyes.
She snorted derisively back at him, hoping her face would convey how glad she was that he had finally returned to her, “Well, someone took their time. Didn’t know you were so keen to hang out with Mikey all of a sudden.”
Evan’s smile dimmed slightly when the words left her mouth and she instantly regretted it, missing the happiness she could feel radiating from him already. Nonetheless, he proudly proclaimed, “He says that we’re finally building a real bond! So you, Cassidy, can be quiet now.”
She rolled her eyes dismissively at Michael’s hollow words, attempting to ignore the sharp pang in her chest from how excitedly Evan talked about the boy who’d ended his literal life. “In your dreams Afton, in your dreams”
