Chapter Text
Before she could say anything to the kid, she felt another sharp pain on her leg. Another cut.
-You fucker! Are you really that fucking stupid? Why the fuck would Wednesday lie about your cousin trying to assault her?!, yelled Enid, clearly at a breaking point.
-Because he rejected her., stated Tyler, as if it should have been obvious.
-Rejected her? I’m sorry, are you fucking blind? Do you really think your rat-looking ugly, musty cousin rejected Wednesday? He made a move on her! He got rejected! And then he tried to force himself on her! The fucking dog bite! He had a dog bite on his leg because our dog bit him! Because he was assaulting Wednesday! Use your fucking braincell, you stupid fuck!, yelled Enid, genuinely losing it.
-That’s it! You two, find some tape or literally anything to keep her quiet., said Tyler angrily, ordering two boys around.
One of the boy simply pulled out a rag and handed it to Tyler, not saying a word. Tyler grabbed it and walked up to Enid.
-Open your mouth., ordered the boy.
The blonde had her mouth shut firmly, not giving him a chance to open it. The boy rolled his eyes and went behind her. He gripped her hair with one hand while the other pinched her nose close. Jokes on him, he was dealing a marine. Enid had been trained to hold her breath for a while. Seconds passed. And then minutes. And Enid still didn’t show any sign of struggle.
-Okay, that’s it., said Tyler, losing his patience.
The boy walked over to Wednesday and then pressed his knife against her throat.
-Open your fucking mouth or I will start slicing her up., threatened Tyler.
Enid looked at Wednesday, not liking this situation at all. She then looked at Tyler, slightly opening her mouth. The boy rolled his eyes and walked back up to her, shoved the rag deep inside her mouth, making her gag but seemingly not caring.
-There. Let’s continue., said the boy as he swung his knife at Enid again, injuring her belly.
-That’s enough!, argued Wednesday, wanting to fight back somehow.
-Oh, is it?, asked Tyler.
Before Wednesday could even answer, Tyler stabbed Enid in the leg, just like she had done to James. The blonde groaned loudly, her screams muffled by the gag as she tried to fight off her tears. The bullet wound, the slicing and now the stabbing? Everything was just too much.
-What? I needed a place to keep my knife safe., shrugged Tyler as he walked away from Enid, leaving the knife in her leg.
The boy made his way up to Wednesday and knelt down to look her in the eyes. He chuckled and then got up again, looking at his friends.
-Open the back gate., said Tyler, already having something in mind.
His friends didn’t question it and opened the gate which let to the outside. The group could now see the water that was stored on the higher side of the dam. Bianca did not take her eyes off Enid’s bleeding body. She needed to take care of those wounds asap before she would get infected. Enid just kept her head hanging, hiding her eyes that kept watering. The pain was too much. They then heard chains. Wednesday looked at the source of the sound, seeing Rowan walk up to them with a chain and a lock.
-You know, back in the day, when you wanted a woman dead, you’d just accuse her of being a witch and then you’d throw her in the water and watch her die. Let’s see if you’re a witch, shall we?, smirked Rowan as he motioned for two boys to untie her from the chair only to have a chain wrapped around her and then locked.
-You’re joking, right? This is a fucking joke., scoffed Wednesday, trying to get out of the chains.
-Nope. I’m very much serious. Now get walking., said Rowan, grabbing her by her chains.
Wednesday stumbled and was then dragged to the edge. She looked down at the water, clenching her jaw. Tyler looked back at Enid who was watching the scene unfold from her chair, trying to break free and help Wednesday. Tyler walked up to the blonde and untied her, pressing a gun against her head.
-Hands behind your head. Get up and walk over. I want you to have a front seat row, watching your friend drowning., said the boy.
Enid placed her hands behind her head but she didn’t move any further. Tyler grabbed the knife that was in Enid’s leg and start twisting it. The blonde screamed against the rag in her mouth, forcing herself to get up so he would stop. She limped her way over to Wednesday, looking at her girlfriend with tears in her eyes. Tyler made her kneel down by the edge, wanting her to see Wednesday struggle and drown.
-How are you still standing? Or conscious?, questioned Tyler with a chuckle as he watched Enid.
The blonde herself didn’t know how she hadn’t passed out by now. But she didn’t and that’s what mattered. Her eyes then locked with Wednesday’s.
-Well, let’s say goodbye now, shall we?, smirked Rowan as he waved to Wednesday.
Tyler then pushed her into the water, watching her head go under the surface instantly, the chain keeping her from swimming back up. Enid watched as Wednesday slowly went deeper and deeper underwater, just wanting to jump in after her. She then lost sight of her girlfriend. That is when there was a gun shot. Enid looked up, seeing Rowan spit blood. She watched him look at Tyler before falling back into the water. Tyler tried to go after him but Enid took the knife she had in her leg and stabbed the boy in the neck. She heard more gun shots. Enid quickly looked from where they were coming from. Yoko. And Trent. And Ajax. And Kiara. They came to their rescue.
Enid didn’t waste another second. She jumped into the water headfirst, diving and looking for her girlfriend. She quickly spotted her, way down. Wednesday was barely moving at that point. The blonde continued to swim rapidly, trying to reach her as fast as she possibly could. The wounds and the blood loss were making her feel dizzy but she didn’t care. She continued. She dove down to her unconscious girlfriend, wrapping her arms around her from behind before pushing themselves off the bottom of the river with her feet. Enid gave it her all. Every ounce of strength she had left, she channeled it into swimming back up to the surface with her girlfriend. Suddenly, she heard a noise. She looked up, seeing Yoko who dived in as well. Enid instantly felt relieved. She wasn’t alone anymore. Her best friend swam down to her and helped Enid bring Wednesday back to the surface.
Once their heads above water, Ajax pulled Wednesday out gently, rolling her on her back. The girl wasn’t moving. Bianca instantly checked her pulse, feeling a weak heartbeat. The girl started performing CPR. Meanwhile, Yoko helped Enid out of the water. Once out, the blonde instantly joined Bianca and assisted with the CPR. Bianca kept pressing on Wednesday’s ribcage to keep the blood circulating to vital organs. She then signaled to Enid, who performed mouth-to-mouth twice before letting Bianca continue. After a few more seconds and a lot of stressing and panic, Wednesday coughed out water. Enid instantly helped her sit up, making sure she wouldn’t choke on it. The blonde out a sigh of relief, hugging her girlfriend tightly, ignoring the sharp pain on her shoulder. Once she let go, Eugene showed up with a bolt cutter, freeing his friend from the chains.
That is when Enid started looking around. Tyler was on the floor with the knife in his throat. Rowan was dead, floating on the water. The others were dead on the floor, blood all over the place. Enid got up and looked at her best friend. Yoko was soaking wet after having jumped in after Enid and Wednesday. The blonde walked up to her and hugged her tightly. Yoko didn’t hesitate to hug back.
-How are you still standing?, questioned the best friend.
-Adrenaline., replied Enid with a chuckle.
-Bianca should take a look at your wounds, E., said Yoko.
-She will. But first, hug me tighter., demanded the blonde.
Yoko did as told, holding Enid closer and hugging her tighter.
-Thank you. For everything., whispered the blonde, her body starting to feel numb.
-I had a lot to make up for., shrugged Yoko.
-You saved our lives, Yok., replied Enid.
Bianca tapped her unharmed shoulder.
-Enid, sit down and let me tend your wounds, yeah?, said the girl calmly.
Yoko pulled away from the hug and helped her best friend gently sit down. Meanwhile, Wednesday was being taken care of by Ajax and Divina. Enid looked up at her friends and saw Amy looking at her with a worried expression.
-Come here, kid., said the blonde.
Amy ran up to her and tackled her into a hug. Enid chuckled, holding back a groan and hugged her back tightly.
-I wanna go home., said the kid.
-Me too, kiddo. Me too., nodded Enid.
