Work Text:

Every day working at Fazbear was hard but this one was extremely difficult.

Solar didn’t sleep well, his mind plagued by nightmares, so mostly he was just lying and glaring at the ceiling like it somehow offended him. At 4 AM he decided that he had enough and sat up with a groan. He stumbled to the kitchen and made himself a cup of black coffee. Drinking it, he looked through some social media and switched to scrolling TikTok in the end. Solar didn’t even notice how his cup got empty so, with another groan, he stood up again and poured a second one from the pot.

Then he started rummaging through cupboards to find some actual food somewhere. He didn’t remember when was the last time he went to a supermarket, he wasn’t used to that routine. First it was Nexus who always reminded him to do that when they lived together, then, after he went crazy and was killed by Sun (he didn’t get punished as it was considered as self-protection as well as protection of Solar and Moon), his son, Jack, was always there and he felt the need to look after the boy. But now, that he lived alone, he always forgot about it and either got a take out or his siblings in law invited him over, which happened a lot more now than before. They were probably worried about him after Jack was taken by Sun and Moon’s stupid father with that negative star power crap. God, he hated almost everything that involved it now.

He didn’t find anything except for chips which he wasn’t in mood for, so, after putting his mug into the sink to a dozen of others that he was too lazy to wash, he went to the bathroom to take a shower. As he took off his t-shirt he touched the scar on his stomach. When Jack was taken over he stabbed Solar pretty badly. The wound was deep but thankfully no organs were damaged. He was in the hospital for a week until doctors said that he was “good enough”. Solar didn’t blame Jack for that, he didn’t do it on his own volition after all.

He threw the shirt into a basket with dirty clothes and went into the stall. Warm water felt amazing on his sore body, stinging a little on his left wrist. Solar thought he was over it but then his life started crumbling. First his partner went insane, now his son was taken by force. The cuts were fresh, the excess blood flowing out with water. The Celestials didn’t know that he started doing it again, they didn’t need to know.

He stepped out as he finished, feeling cold now after a hot shower. He quickly dried himself and put the clothes on. Looking at the mirror he noticed that his hair got longer than he would’ve liked, the hair dye was also more faint now. He probably needed to go to a salon soon. He sighed and ruffled his hair a little. It was fluffy by nature and Jack liked playing with it, saying that the softness of it was cool. Solar didn’t mind of course. He loved spending time with his son.

He pulled out a first aid kit and tightly wrapped his left wrist in bandages, then went to the kitchen to pour himself a third cup of coffee and noticed that it was 5:37 already. He literally gulped down the coffee and went to their- his room to get properly dressed for work. Baggy pants, daycare hoodie (because he must wear something with the logo), his beloved goggles and gloves for his mechanic work later. As he finished he got a call from Sun. He called every morning so it wasn’t surprising.

“Hey, Sun.” Solar greeted roughly. His voice was always like that but he supposed that his prior additions didn’t help with that.

“Oh hey, Solar! How are you doing so far?” Sun’s voice was high pitched and cheerful like it always was in the daycare. He didn’t sound like that in normal circumstances.

“Good enough, I guess.” He wasn’t about to say that he hardly slept tonight.

“Great! That’s good, uh… want me to pick you up on the way?” Solar knew this question would be asked, so he immediately answered.

“Yes, if it’s not too hard.” He heard Sun sigh.

“It’s fine. We’ll be there in 30 minutes!”

“Got it.”

With that Solar hung up and started packing some things that he always brought to work. His toolbox (he didn’t trust Fazbear with theirs), headphones, his wallet and a charger for his phone. He still had twenty minutes so he drank the rest of the coffee pot. Just as he finished he heard the beeping of Sun’s car and went outside to join the Celestials on their trip to work. He sat to the front. Lunar and Earth were chatting with Dazzle in the back.

“Hi, Solar!” Earth said and hugged him.

“Hey, Sol!” Lunar greeted shortly.

“Hi!” The girl squeaked.

“Hi guys.”

The ride to the PizzaPlex was fast as it was not that long in general and there weren’t too many cars yet. Sun pulled up and everyone got out. Solar went to the theater while the others walked to the daycare, wishing him good luck.

He turned on the computers and popcorn machine, checked the stocks of snacks and coffee beans. They bought coffee machine for the theater so they could drink good coffee on breaks at least because Fazbear sells trash. Solar just sat at the counter until 8 AM. Then people started showing up. He didn’t really like talking to customers as they tend to be quite noisy, usually complaining about high prices and always threatening to call his manager.

The morning shift went surprisingly smoothly. No Karens so far. Then kids from the daycare had a planned movie session, so Solar politely asked the customers to leave the theater before the little ones came. They all eventually showed up, accompanied by Sun and Earth while Lunar was down in the main area preparing for nap time. The kids greeted Solar, a girl with short brown hair and green eyes running up to him and giving him a quick hug.

“Hi, uncle Solar!” She said. Solar smiled.

“Hi, Dazzle.” With that he rubbed her head. That was fine with her. She knew Solar wasn’t very fond of physical touch so she never expected him to return the embrace. The pat on the head was okay.

Dazzle is a good girl with a bad past. She had a different name then. Evelyn. More than three years ago a maniac got in the daycare and killed every child under Sun’s care, injuring Sun in the process (breaking his leg and leaving multiple cuts and bruises, dark marks were found on his neck, Sun said that he was strangled; Moon had a very bad time as Solar heard) as he tried to protect them. Evelyn was in the daycare that day and the police thought that she was killed and her body was just hidden. Two years later a girl started showing up at the daycare at night. Lunar and Earth found her first. She said her name was Dazzle but never told her story, though, she was Jack’s first friend and the Celestial family treated her nicely. Sun was thinking a lot, saying that she sounded familiar to him. Dazzle told him the truth, ironically, on July 16th, exactly three years after the incident. Apparently she was living inside of the PizzaPlex all these years. She saw the name Dazzle on an old poster and decided to make it her new name. Sun cried a lot that day because of sadness and relief that she is alive. She said that he was long forgiven by her but he kept apologizing. Sun adopted her after that and she decided to keep the name Dazzle but she doesn’t mind when Sun calls her Evelyn at home.

As Sun and Earth helped the little ones settle before the big screen, Solar started the movie. Today it was the first Sing film. The second one is planned on the next week. Earth sat down on the furthest row to watch over the kids while Sun went to Solar for his break.

“You want some coffee?” Solar asked, already going to the theater desk to make himself who-knows-which-cup for today.

“I would like some, yes. Do you have milk?” Sun sighed, stretching his arms.

“Of course. How much do you want?”

“About a third, please, thank you.”

Solar prepared the drinks in silence, making Sun’s cup first and then doing himself straight black coffee.

“Did you ever even drink something lighter than espresso?” Sun asked suddenly. “I think I only saw you drink that.”

“Uh… maybe, like, two years ago? I don’t really remember.” Solar answered nonchalantly.

“Got it.” The attendant took a sip and gave a small hum of approval. “A bit of syrup to that and it would be perfect!”

“Do you want some?” Solar literally gulped a half of his own drink.

“You have it?!” Sun sputtered in shock.

“I do, actually. You’re not the only one who likes sweet coffee.” Solar took out a bottle of caramel syrup from the mini fridge under the desk, where customers couldn’t see it, and gave it to Sun.

“Thank you!” He added some of it to his coffee and gave back. “How could I forget about Earth’s sweet tooth.” He chuckled.

“Or Lunar’s.” The mechanic mused.

“Yeah… so, how’s your day going so far?” Sun decided to start a conversation. They had at least an hour after all.

“Well, not that bad actually. No Karens since the morning. I think I’m going for a record!” And just after he said that a woman entered the theater with her child in tow.

“Hey, you!” She walked up to the counter. “How much is the ticket for a movie right now?” She glared at Solar like he was her mortal enemy but he was stoic.

“I’m sorry, ma’am, but you can’t buy tickets for this time.” He answered her calmly. “Right now there are kids watching a planned film.”

“Then why can’t my child join in?!” She was raising her voice.

“Because this time is booked for the kids from the daycare. They have scheduled time once a week in which no other customers, except for the children’s trusted adults, are allowed to enter the theater.” Solar didn’t waver.

“What, because you all, lazy bastards, don’t want to do anything?! You are drinking coffee instead of work!” She started screaming at him while Sun was standing beside awkwardly, not knowing what to say.

“We have a scheduled break right now. There is a stand just outside where everything is-“ Solar didn’t get to finish before she exploded.

“Don’t you dare call me stupid right now! One wrong word and you’ll be fired from here! I’ll call your manager right this second and you will pay!” She turned to Sun then. “And you! Stupid dog that is scared of saying anything will be flying out of here with your ass high up in the sky!” She pushed the attendant, making him spill his coffee on himself. Sun looked absolutely enraged before the mechanic interrupted everyone.

“Alright. Here’s the number of the manager.” Solar answered, showing her the list of phone numbers and pointing the one in particular with his finger. The woman dialed it and in the next second they heard a ringtone which was coming from Sun’s pocket. The attendant smugly took his phone out and answered it.

“You were rude to the workers here, ma’am. You showed aggression towards our staff and the manager, and I should call security to take you from here but I would be good this time and say that you are banned from visiting the theater. If you want to make your child a daycare card, then you should come down in the morning or evening on any working day.” Sun said it with the sweetest tone even while the woman just looked shocked. “Oh, and if you didn’t understand already, I’m the manager here.” With that Sun ended the call and the woman just ran away. Sun sighed. “The good old trick always works.”

“Looks like I summoned it with saying it was too easy of a day.” Solar said after a pause. “Do you have any clothes to change into?” He asked then.

“Uh, yeah! You can never be too certain with the kiddos. I’ll be back!” Sun exited the theater and Solar just continued drinking his coffee while he waited.

Suddenly Solar became very aware that he was left alone. The lights somehow got brighter and the movie from the other room was too loud. He heard ringing which immediately made him clasp his hands on his ears to try and stop it, make it quieter, stop, stop, Crescent, please stop! He shut his eyes, not even noticing how his breath sped up.

“Sol?… S… ar?” He didn’t hear anything.

“Stop! Make it stop! Please!” He was pleading no one in particular. He didn’t know what was happening.

He felt hands on his shoulders. They were guiding him to stand up. He didn’t remember when he fell to his knees. He was walking and everything dimmed. He heard a voice.

“You’re doing good, Solar…” the hands helped him sit down again but in a more comfortable position this time. “I’m gonna put the ear defenders on, okay?” The voice was quiet and familiar. And soft. Solar nodded and took his hands from his head. In the next second he felt a fluffy texture on his head, he recognized it immediately which helped him calm down further. He slowly opened his eyes. Everything was blurred and only then he felt wetness on his face. He didn’t notice he was crying this whole time. Through the tears he saw Sun’s face, the attendant was smiling softly at him. They were at the back of the theater with the lights turned off. Solar rubbed his eyes to get rid of the tears but that didn’t help with the burning he felt. Sun took his hands gently. “Shh… don’t do that. Do you need something cold for your eyes?” Solar nodded. “Okay, I’ll be right back.” Solar whined. “Hey, hey… I’m not going anywhere. You can still see me.” Sun went to the desk, opened the freezer and took out an eye mask which had ice inside of it, saying reassurances the whole time. He went back to Solar. “I’m here, close your eyes.” Solar was obeying him as Sun was one of his trusting adults. He knew that Sun wouldn’t use his condition against him. Earth and Lunar are also on that list, Moon isn’t because of what happened with Nexus and Crescent, and they were very alike. Solar could talk to Moon in normal circumstances but he didn’t trust him with his attacks yet.

Sun slid the mask on his head and the tension left Solar’s body, his breathing calmed fully.

“You’re alright. Can you talk right now?” Sun asked softly. Solar shook his head. “Okay. That’s fine. Do you want me to touch you or is it too overwhelming?” Shake of the head again and Solar reached his hand forward, trying to find Sun close by. The attendant took it. It was trembling slightly but soon it calmed as Sun started rubbing circles on the back of it. He wasn’t alone. Sun was here and that was all that mattered. “Do you want a hug?” Solar thought about it and nodded after a minute. Sun scooped him in his arms gently, laying Solar’s head on his shoulder so he was half lying on his side, and wrapped his arms around the overwhelmed man. “Good. You’re comfy?” Solar gave a tiny nod. “Okay.” They just sat there while Sun texted Earth quietly.

Sun: Can you watch over the kids without me for now? Solar had an attack and I’m with him right now.

Earth: Of course. Take as much time as you need. Poor Solar(((

Sun: Yeah. A Karen came here on our break and started yelling at us, spilled my coffee over me. I think that triggered him.

Earth: Probably. Dazzle sends him hugs and kisses, same as me)))

Sun: I’ll tell him

“Hey, Solar… Earth and Dazzle send you hugs and kisses…” Solar didn’t answer but Sun saw him smiling a little at that. “We can stay here for a few hours. Wanna take a nap?” Solar shrugged at that. He didn’t know if he could sleep, if his mind would supply him with more nightmares. “Try, please. I’ll be here the whole time. Just try to sleep.” The mechanic nodded.

***

He was on his couch, watching a movie. Jack was snuggled at his side, hugging his arm. A bucket of popcorn was on Solar’s knees. Jack never left his side after he awoke from coma after three months. Solar didn’t say it to anyone but he actually liked spending time with Jack like that. Just relaxing and watching something in peace. He never saw his partner after he awoke and Jack says that it’s for the better.

Suddenly he saw Jack turning his head around, towards the front door.

“Father, pause!” His son asked, his voice serious. Solar fumbled with the TV remote and paused the movie. And then he heard it.

Somebody was trying to get in.

The doorknob was turning in random directions as if somebody was yanking it from outside.

They changed the lock right after Solar came home from coma.

Only Solar and Jack had the keys.

Solar was sitting on the couch, frozen, while Jack sprung up and took his phone. Then went to the front door to look in the peephole.

“Father! We need to barricade the door!” He screamed and right after that a loud crunch of the wood was heard. Jack literally sprinted back to Solar and helped him stand.

Solar was still wobbly on his legs after three months of not walking on them, so he gripped the couch to support himself. But what he saw in the hallway almost made him collapse.

There, slowly walking towards them both, was a tall man. His face, that in all these months Solar came to love, was twisted with an angry and crazed expression. But what was the most obvious, his eyes were bright purple, instead of soft blue. Behind him he was dragging a big axe.

“Wh… what…” no one heard Solar’s whisper.

“Hello, Solar.” The man grinned and it was scary. Terrifying to the point where Solar wanted to cry. It was sickening. “Nice to see you again, love.” Solar was full-body trembling but hiding Jack behind his back. “Aw… are you… scared of me? Don’t you remember me, Solar? After all we’ve been through? After all the things we did together? Don’t you recognize your little Nexus?” Solar’s breath hitched.

“I… I-I…” he was tripping over his words, his mind was blank.

“Join me, Solar! We can be together again!” Nexus was raising his voice. “We can be in love again!”

“…n-n-no.” Solar’s voice shook terribly.

“No?” Nexus started screaming. “No?! Don’t tell me you’re with the stupid Celestials! They ripped me out and tossed me like a broken toy! I will kill them! But if you’re with them…” Nexus growled, “…maybe I should kill you too. You and your idiotic son!” Solar’s grip on Jack’s shoulder tightened.

“Don’t you dare talking about my son like that.” Solar grit his teeth despite his fear. “He is better than you.” That only seemed to make Nexus angrier.

“I will strangle you both! Starting with Jack, so you-“ he pointed a finger at Solar, “-will watch your precious son die.” Just as he started reaching towards the boy behind Solar, they all heard a furious scream and in the next second Sun was running into his ex-brother, pushing him on the floor and punching him in the face.

“Go away from my family!” Sun screeched, crushing his fists onto the face of the insane man.

“I’ll be back for you all!” Nexus hissed and shoved Sun, who fell on the floor, the back of the head hitting the couch, and fled from the house with his axe and a bloody face now.

Moon ran up to them all, helped get dizzy Sun up and then the twins approached Solar and Jack.

“Jack massaged me! Are you okay?! Did he hurt you?” Sun asked frantically, already forgetting about what surely will be a bump later, letting Solar lean on him. Everything was going too fast, the world around him was spinning. He couldn’t bear it.

“I… I-I’m gonna be sick…” Solar mumbled right before he vomited all over the floor, everything he ate that day resurfacing in the worst way possible, resulting in dry coughing.

“Shh… it’s okay, Solar, it’s okay.” Sun guided him to sit on the couch again while Moon went to take care of the mess. “Jack, bring him a cup of water, please.”

“Yes!” Jack ran to the kitchen and after a half of a minute was already back and sitting next to Solar, helping him drink as his hands were shaking like crazy.

The two sat there in silence until Jack heard a choked sob coming from the mechanic. Looking at him he saw that Solar hid his face in his hands and cried silently. Jack moved over to him silently and hugged him.

“It’s okay, papa, I’m here… we’ll be okay.” His son whispered as Solar wrapped his arms around him tightly, burying his face in Jack’s shoulder.

***

“Solar. Solar, wake up!” He came to consciousness to Sun’s worried voice and gentle shaking. The mask was still on as well as the ear defenders. He groaned and the shaking stopped. “You’re awake?” He nodded. “How do you feel? Can I take the mask off? It’s dark in here, don’t worry.” After some thought Solar nodded again. He closed his eyes as the mask was carefully taken off. In the next second he felt hands cup his face and wipe the moisture that he only now noticed was there. “You had a nightmare?” His eyes burned as he recalled his dream and he nodded. “Nexus again?” Yes. Sun hugged him tighter and placed Solar’s face on his shoulder. “It’s okay…” Solar clung to him like his life depended on it. For him it probably did. “You need to go to therapy one day, Solar… you can’t live like this.” Sun lifted Solar head up. “Look at me, please.” Reluctantly the mechanic opened his eyes, they were red and puffy from long crying, eyelashes wet with tears. Sun cooed at him and wiped his face with his thumbs. “Are you still too overwhelmed?” Solar shook his head now. The nasty feeling started to fade away. “Okay. I’ll take the ear defenders off, alright?” A nod and the pressure on his head loosened, the sounds of the world returned.

“Wh… h-how long?..” he tried to speak, his voice more hoarse than usual but the words felt too hard still.

“It’s been four hours. The theater is closed for today. I know you have your mechanic work still but I can get you home if it feels like too much right now.” Solar shook his head and sniffled, wiping his eyes.

“Need work…” he mumbled. Sun sighed. Of course he would work even if the whole world suddenly ended. Sun hates Crescent for what he did to Solar in his childhood, resulting in him being such a workaholic. Solar didn’t deserve a brother like that.

“Alright, I won’t pressure you.” They both stood up. Sun put the mask back into the freezer and Solar put on his gloves and grabbed the toolbox. “Okay, we actually had a kid who broke the big screen behind the desk. They threw a ball at it accidentally. It didn’t shatter but stopped working.” Solar nodded and they both walked into the daycare.

Not much kids remained there as most of them got picked up already but the ones that were left greeted them both, energetically waving their hands. Dazzle hugged his legs again.

“Are you feeling better, uncle Solar?” She whispered. For such a small age she was very smart. She knew that such questions should be asked quietly when in public.

“Yes, Dazzle. Thank you.” He ruffled her hair and walked behind the desk to look at the screen.

“I’m sorry!” He heard a boy’s voice from the crowd of children. Probably the one that broke it.

“It’s okay, accidents happen. It’ll be fixed in no time.” Solar said as he got the screen down from the wall and started examining the back of it.

The fix was easy, really. The impact only shifted some contacts inside, so Solar was quick to change that and the screen was working again in no time. But just as he was about to exit the daycare, a girl spoke up.

“Mr. Solar, when will Jack come back?” He froze, as did Sun and Earth. Solar’s back was turned to the kids and he slowly faced them. Dazzle also was standing wide eyed. The children in the daycare didn’t know what actually happened to Jack, they thought that the boy was just sick. Dazzle knew that it was worse than that but still hasn’t been told everything.

“He… um…” a lump rose in Solar’s throat. Thinking about Jack was always hard now, no matter how long he was gone for and the poor father didn’t dare thinking about anything else but him. “I don’t know… he is… he’s still ill…” he turned away, taking a deep breath and willing his eyes to stop stinging and he speed walked out of the daycare.

Sun was frantically looking between the front door and the remaining kids. “Earth, can you?..”

“Yes. Go.” She agreed without letting him finish and Sun bolted after him.

Solar was standing a few feet away, his back turned to Sun, rubbing his forearm, trying to soothe himself.

“Solar?” Sun whispered gently, his hand outstretched. “Can I touch you?” The mechanic gave a small nod and the attendant patted his shoulder. “Do you want me to take you home?” Yes.

Sun quietly led him out of the building, to the parking lot and into the car. Solar’s expression was empty, like somebody sucked all of his emotions out and left only a fragile shell of a body. He was silent the whole ride, just looking out of the window. The weather had changed for worse, rain started dripping down from the grey sky. When they arrived, Solar nodded in quiet thanks and left the car, just standing in the rain for a few minutes before opening the front door of once a happy family house and disappearing inside. Sun couldn’t help but pity the man as he drove back. He still had work to do after all.

***

Two hours later, when all the kids went home, the siblings checked out, Sun drove Earth back to Monty and Dazzle and Lunar home, he, with the stuff Solar left in the theater (as it wasn’t really on his mind when he clocked out), was riding towards the mechanic’s house again. He parked, took Solar’s bag from the backseat and quickly ran to the front door, pressing the doorbell. It was raining heavily now, sometimes the nasty grey sky was cut with lightning as thunder roared, accompanying it. Sun was standing there for good five minutes without any changes but just as he was about to ring for the second time, the lock clicked and the doorknob turned. The door slowly opened and the sight of the only person who could be there right now made Sun let out a silent gasp.

“Oh, Solar…” the man looked like an absolute mess. His hair was like a nest, he had dark circles under his eyes which were bloodshot, his face was clearly wet and it was not from the rain. He was in a t-shirt now and Sun could see a bandage clumsily wrapped around his left wrist, half-soaked in blood. But the worst of all was the strong smell of alcohol and cigarettes. He was practically reeking of them. Solar was leaning on the opened door, his gaze glassy, he was on a verge of a collapse and was barely holding himself up.

“Uh…” he cleared his throat, knowing that he was caught, but still trying to act normally. “Hey… Sun…” he rasped, his voice slurring. “What are… you d-doing… h-here?..”

“I brought your stuff from work. Can I come in, please?” Sun almost pleaded, worry plastered on his face.

After some contemplating Solar nodded sluggishly and opened the door wider. Sun was quick to enter and lock the door behind himself as the mechanic was clearly not in a state to do that. As he went further into the house he saw that the kitchen was not any better. A collection of dirty mugs were in the sink, all of the cupboards rid of any food, two wine bottles were on the dining table(one half full, the other empty), beside them lied an almost empty pack of cigarettes. Solar took the last one and hobbled to the stove, turning it on with shaky hands to light the cursed thing. Sun was quick to intervene as he slapped the little stick out of the drunk’s hand and turned the heater off. The cigarette was thrown in the trash as Solar whined. God, they made such a long way to get rid of all his addictions, that it was saddening to see him in a state like this, when he couldn’t think of anything better than to go back down this pit.

Sun sat his friend on the couch, then hid the remaining bottle and went to the bathroom. The sink there had red stains inside of it but the attendant ignored them for now as he took the first aid kit. At least it was full as being in the situation they all were in wasn’t really safe. When he came back to the living room, he was a witness to Solar, curled in a ball, crying soundlessly (a skill learned in his early life while living with his brother).

“Hey, hey, Solar, what happened?” Sun asked gently as he sat beside the man.

“I… I-I’m s-sorry…” he whispered. “I m-made you worry… and w-wasted all of your g-guys’ work on m-me… I w-will always be a… f-fucking addict… I’m h-hopeless…” he hiccuped as he buried his face in his knees. Sun cooed.

“Solar, look at me.” He said firmly. The mechanic fearfully lifted his head, ready to be yelled at, but Sun’s expression showed nothing but worry. “You are not an addict, nor you are hopeless. You are going through hard times and I understand. I’m not mad that you picked up the smoking again. I’m worried about you.” He took Solar’s left arm and carefully pealed the bandages off. It was a messy work, he was clearly already drunk when he did that. “You try to act all stoic but you are breaking inside more and more.” He disinfected the fresh cuts, Solar hissing a little in the process. “We want to help you but we can’t if you don’t tell us what’s on your mind.” Taking a roll of clean bandages, Sun tightly wrapped his wrist and made a little bow. “So the only thing I ask of you is: please, call us if you will ever want to do something like that again. If not call, then text me, or Earth, or Moon, hell, even Monty. Don’t hide how you feel, reach out to us in any way you can and want. We won’t be angry if you suddenly break into our house, because we are family. We are supposed to help each other out, no matter what. Okay?” Sun rubbed Solar’s shoulder as he nodded, a new wave of tears rolling down his cheeks. Solar was whimpering and Sun opened his arms. “Come here.”

That was all that was needed. The mechanic threw himself onto his friend and let out a keen of a deeply wounded animal that made Sun’s heart break. Solar buried his face in the attendant’s shoulder and sobbed. It was not one of his proudest moments but he didn’t care. He was whimpering, moaning lowly, putting all his hurt in it until he was too weak to do it. He slumped on Sun, only hiccuping now, as Sun brushed his hair with his fingers.

“Good. You did great, Solar. It’s going to be okay.” Sun kissed his forehead. “I’ll take you to our house, alright? I think a change of scenery would be good for you.” Solar nodded, he didn’t have it in him to protest. “Okay. I’ll go pack some of your things and return. Be here.” With that Sun went to Solar’s bedroom which was the least messy of all (save for Jack’s room but no one has been in there since the boy was kidnapped, so there was a lot of dust). After a couple of minutes he came out with a bag full of different stuff and approached the couch again. “I’m back, you ready to go?” The alcohol started wearing off and now Solar looked like he would sleep there and then. He still gave a nod and tried to stand up.

In the end Sun had Solar leaning on him. The mechanic was thin (which probably wasn’t good), so he was light. Sun sat him in a chair and helped a hoodie on him as it was a cold evening, then they left the house, Sun locking the door with Solar’s key, and went to the car. The bag was tossed on the backseat, Sun sat to the wheel and Solar on the front seat next to him. They drove in silence and five minutes into the ride Solar was already sleeping in all his messed up glory. Sun smiled in sympathy. The poor man carried so much on his shoulders that he had to break eventually and Sun was glad that he was near by that time.

They all still had a lot on their plate but everything will work out eventually. And they all will be together for that.
