“What the fuck…?” Scaramouche woke up in what was not his room. His vision was blurry, his head a little fuzzy still. He could make out that his wrist had been bandaged up, his clothes stained with blood still, there was various salty snacks and bottles of water and sports drinks on the bedside, as well as a ginger man, waiting at the bedside in a chair like he just pissed the bed and had to tell his parents.
“I’m sorry.” He mumbled, he was bandaged as well, his neck wrapped clumsily as if he had never put bandages on before. “You found me at a bad time, I think.” For a moment, Scaramouche couldn’t speak. He was dumbfounded. Not only was he alive, but he was in his almost-killer’s bed, with his almost-killer at his side, spewing a pathetic nine-word apology.
“You almost killed me.”
“Yeah.” A silence stretched between them. “I’m sorry.”
