Work Text:
Instead of fucking off or pretending to be dead, All For One nearly dies in the Fight vs All Might and goes "alright, time to be a stay at home dad”.
Inko's worried about money? He'll "work from home”.
Izuku, you've got a brother I found in the trash (totally legally).
Son is quirkless? Yeah, that tracks with his genes.
Neighbour kid is being a dick about it? Not if he wants to keep his hands.
(No, he did not threaten a 4 yr old, dear. Not out loud or provably at least.)
He can be subtle, All Might.
(Izuku would never mention anyone being mean to him, he doesn't want to worry his parents. Midoriya Tomura has no such qualms and may as well be nicknamed "Draco Malfoy" because his father will hear about Everything.)
A teacher is consistently falsifying grades and keeps talking about "evolution" and looking at Izuku? Fuck that. New school for both of his children.
[Leaving Bakugou Katsuki behind. Where his quirk is constantly equated to his worth as a human being by the very same teacher. Quirkism has many expressions and helps nobody. But now he glimpses another world in playdates when his mother and Midoriya Inko catch up over tea. Izuku does not answer to Deku in this world when his brother is never far and wildly protective of the sibling he has not lost(yet?). ]
[Not everything will change. A childhood friendship is strained by time and cruelty regardless. "Different" is called "Less" by all but a few in their small neighbourhood. But the lines are less clear than before.]
AFO is not quite biding his time.
He loves his family.
He's mostly interested in the complexities of parenthood and pretending to be a law-abiding citizen.
(He wonders what his brother would think of the legacy that lives in his stead. The one that nearly killed the last member remaining of their family and the small, red eyed child that lost nearly as much as they had at nearly the same age. Both tended to by his own hands, the very ones that his brother did not trust with anything other than himself. The hands that couldn't save him, not with every power that passed through them from willing and unwilling victims in an attempt to prove that these abilities did not make him a monster—)
God, he gets unnecessarily sentimental when watching his family.
Thankfully, he can still do crime.
It's much more efficient to delegate the terribly unethical quirk experimentation to people who have more background in biological sciences and medicine. All he has to do is be suitably menacing in the background and let his Doctor supervise.
And it means he has time to greet his children when they get home from school!
