Chapter Text
The wedding festivities were in full swing, and Hiccup did not think he had ever been happier in his entire life.
He glanced at his lovely bride who was sitting beside him, sure his massive grin echoed hers. This was the beginning of the rest of their lives, and he couldn’t wait to see what was in store. Some things were unknown, like whether they would have children or how many, while others were established fact, like that he would be taking over as Chief in a year, his uncle wanting to give him a chance to adjust to this change in his life before he took on further responsibilities.
As his gaze swept across the assembled crowd, his eyes lingered on his assorted family members. He wouldn’t deny that they were an unconventional group, and they could be more than a little wild at times, but they had stuck together through thick and thin, supporting and helping one another to grow. Though they weren’t all related by blood, there was something stronger that tied them all together.
Love.
His introspection did not go unnoticed, as Astrid rested her hand on his arm, asking if he was okay.
“Yeah, just thinking about my family.” He smiled fondly. “I don’t know where I’d be without them.”
“They are pretty amazing,” she acknowledged, leaning against him.
“That they are,” he agreed, wrapping an arm around her, “and so are you.”
He swooped in for a kiss, more than pleased with this newest addition to his wonderful family. And perhaps, with time, they might be able to add another small member.
Only time would tell, but he couldn’t wait to find out.
