Chapter 1: I'm Here to Help!

Chapter Text

I've had a secret from my sisters for years not. The truth is I've been a lot more involved with Brick and his brothers then I've let on. It started as a duty to help even if they were on the wrong side of the law. Things started to change as we got older. Are relationship deepened and although I would never say we were together...I wouldn't say that we weren't either. I knew I couldn't get involved with him though. I have big goals! Since I was little I had a plan.

  • Step 1: Become Valedictorian of my school
  • Step 2: Get into Harvard and study Law
  • Step 3: Get my Masters and then PHD in International Law
  • Step 4: Become mayor of Townsville
  • Step 5: Become the President of the United States! (Hopefully there will have been a female President by the time I reached this stage but I was ok to add that tittle to my resume as well)

Brick Jojo didn't fit anywhere in my plans. I couldn't very well date a criminal if I wanted to achieve my goals! Brick refuses to listen to me though! He knows I'm right but he insists that, and I quote "we would make the most impressive power couple the world has ever seen" (his words not mine). Although he is on my intellectual level, and ,I shudder to say this, but... he is stronger than me and I have no doubt he would be able to hold his own. The fact of the matter is that he still has a bad reputation! If I'd known that helping him would lead me to where I am now I would have never done so. However it was too late now. This is the story of how I Blossom Utonium ended up in Hell.

Everything started when we were 7. As the leader I had always taken it upon myself to patrol Townsville to prevent any problems before they began. My sisters weren't as interested in our work but for me I took pride in it. I didn't feel it was necessary to involve them since all I did on patrol was observe most of the time and settle petty disputes on occasion, so I took care of it myself. As I headed towards the swamp where Fuzzy Lumpkin normally resided I heard something peculiar. Instead of the sounds of a banjo playing I heard the familiar sound of three boys arguing inside. I stopped far enough back so that I could listen without being detected, deciding to investigate the matter further.

"Why do we have to live in this dump! Can't we just go back and live with the monkey!" He said followed by the sound of something smashing against the wall. That Must be Butch.

"I don't know I kind of like it here. It's got vintage vibes you know." That ones voice sounded cheerful, so that one was most likely Boomer.

My ears perked as I heard the final boy start to speak.

He sigh. "Look we can't live with the Monkey. Do you want to have to listen to his nagging all of the time?" Brick said, sounding exasperated.

Butch grunted "Yeah you're right." he said begrudgingly

Butch's voice changed as he continued mockingly "Why are you boys not destroying the girls! I  MOJO JOJO AS YOUR FATHER COMMAND YOU DO AWAY WITH THOSE PESKY GIRLS. It is what I MOJO JOJO has commanded therefore it is what you must do!" Butch said, mimicking Mojo pretty well actually. The boys chuckled. I couldn't help but chuckle a little to. I remained quiet, curious to see where this was headed.

"What about Him." Boomer said. The rest of the boys went quiet for a moment. I could only imagine the look they were giving Boomer right now.

Brick spoke first. "Boomer you are literally telling us to make a deal with the devil." There was silence again for a moment

"Oh yeah...Then what do we do....I don't want to steal anymore..."  Boomer said in a quietly despondent voice.

"I know...I'll figure something out..." said Brick at last.

I was shocked. I'd always thought the boys enjoyed breaking the law. I guess it made sense considering who they had been living with until now. I thought back to when my sisters and I had been in a similar situation and realized we could have ended up just like the Rowdy Ruff boys if the Professor hadn't been there for us....

I paused, no longer listening, deep in thought. I knew what I had to do. When I'd finished thinking out. my plan I flew off ready to set it in motion.

A week later I went to Fuzzy Lumpkin's shack again, stack of papers in hand and knocked on the door.

KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK

I could hear the boys whispering at the other side of the door arguing with each other about whether or not they should answer. I just stood patiently and waited. Eventually I could hear Brick say he would get it. As he opened the door a look of shock crossed his features. I chuckled internally, surprised by how cute he looked with that dumfounded look on his face. I took the opportunity to brush past him before I started to spread the documents into three neat piles on the only table in the room.

"Hey what do you think your doing Puff?" Butch yelled. I looked at him noticing that he had gotten into a fighting stance. I just continued to calmly survey the room. Boomer was looking a bit wearily at me, but he made no move to attack me. Brick having recovered from his shock started to walk over towards me. It looked like he was going to say something but when he noticed the papers it seemed like he changed his mind when he started looking through those instead.

When he'd finished reading he looked back at me. His face changing from guarded to confused.

"What is all this?" he said. I looked Brick straight in the eye. "I'm here to help" I said resolutely. I motioned for Butch and Boomer to move closer. Butch just scowled and Boomer continued to look confused before they both looked to Brick clearly asking for guidance. He nodded and the boys started to walk over guard still in place.

When the boys were all close enough I began my explanation. "First of all I want to say I am sorry for eavesdropping, but I overheard you all talking last week about not wanting to be criminals anymore, so I took it upon myself to get some documents for you all to sign in order to better your situation."

Before they could start with any questions I continued. "The first few pages are confirmation for Documents to get you all an official birth certificate, sin number and student I.D. It will take a while before you can enter school do to your criminal history but I have secured a promise from the mayor to provide you with resources so that you can study at home while we work on getting all of your documents in order. I have also arranged for a court date for you all to be emancipated as well as get child support from your father and I have applied for other financial programs on your behalf to supplement income you'll need for rent and food costs. I've also secured you government housing. You just have to sign this document here promising you will cease all criminal activities. As soon as that's signed the court proceeding will be expedited and Ms. Bellum will show you to your new home as well as help you all to set up a joint bank account for expenses. She has agreed to be available for you three for anything you might need going forward.

Brick continued to look through the documents as Butch and Bubbles looked on at her in shock. After another minute Brick set the papers down and looked at me in a way I had never seen from him before and couldn't quite place.

"Why are you helping us?" He said sounding confused, a frown on his face.

I understood why he was curious. We had been enemies for awhile now after all. For me though, the answer was simple.

"I want to be the type of leader that everyone can look up to and to do that I plan to help anyone in need no matter how things were in the past." I smiled hoping that answer was good enough.

Brick was still frowning but I could see the beginnings of a smile creeping onto his face. "I see..." he said.

After that things went quickly. He and I helped his brother's understand each document and showed them where to sign. When they were finished Brick handed me back all of the documents. I gathered them all up and was about to leave when Brick stopped me.

"Can we talk in private for a moment?" Brick asked

Curious about what he wanted to say I agreed. Brick said something to his brothers before he and I flew up far enough so that they wouldn't be able to overhear.

Brik spoke first. "Look, due to some circumstances we will have to pretend, for now at least that we are still criminals. I can't tell you why but it's important. If you could set up a meeting with myself and Ms. Bellum so I can explain further I would appreciate it. For now I can't get you and your sisters involved in this." Brick said looking serious.

Blossom was skeptical, but she knew a bit about their circumstances and based on their previous reactions from their last conversation she discerned that it had to do with Him. Just thinking about what could possibly require the boys to take such precautions brought a frown to my face.

"Understood. I'll let Ms. Bellum and the mayor know." I grabbed one of the pens I had brought along with me and grabbed Brick's hand. The mayor had given us each a phone when we entered grade school since me and my sisters were no longer in the same class.

"Here" I said as I wrote my number onto his palm.

"This is my number. If you or your brothers ever need anything give me a call and I'll do what I can to help. Go to the Mayor's office tomorrow. I'll let them know your coming. You'll get your own phone numbers when you do. Just text me as soon as everything is set up." I finished my explanation and as I looked up I caught Brick smiling at his hand.  His face quickly changed to one of indifference making me wonder if I had imagined it.

"Yeah I'll go tomorrow then." He said now looking me in the eyes.

I could feel my cheeks getting hot as he stared, making me feel... uncomfortable for some reason."

"Ok I am going to finish my patrol now. I'll see you later!" I said quickly. Loosing my composure for a second as I sped away. I could just make out a quiet thank you from Brick as I sped off to finish my patrol. Cheeks feeling unnaturally warm in the chilly air.
