Chapter Text
Alex and Buddy were silently going through towards Defiance as Buddy was too angry and focused upon what he was doing, and Alex being observant of any houses along the way, as they rode across the scenery.
“Hey Buddy, are you mad?”
”Mad? Mad? I-“
Buddy got closer to Alex to prove his point, seeing Alex’s saddened face.
”I… I…”
”You’re what?“
”I’m not mad. I’m just trying not to make this situation any worse, since you’ve done enough already.”
…
”I know this may not be important, but… where did you get ‘Wagadoogy’ from?”
”I made it up.”
”I wonder, when was the last time you said it? It’s felt like it’s been a while.”
”Well, to due to the fact my life has been too busy recently, because of you-“
”Well, you don’t have to be that blunt…”
”But it’s true. You’ve kept me from doing what I want to. The entire time.”
”I mean, it’s not that much…”
”But it’s true. Every single day, I have been spent doing things you have gotten me involved with, and it’s taken a lot of time to fix it, for you.”
”Well, I’m sorry.”
“That doesn’t cut it, Alex.”
”But I apologized-“
”Alex. I have been, and still am, doing things, for you. Not your parents, not my parents, you.”
”Yes, and…”
”It’s painful.”
”What?”
”And it’s painful because I can’t do anything I wish to do, the time being spent working away, just to reverse whatever you do. I didn’t ever think I would have to become like this. And now I really don’t want to do more shit.”
”Buddy, you said you weren’t m-“
”I’M FUCKING MAD!”
”There comes a time where you need to stop and think, Alex. A moment where you need to think about what you’re doing, about what you’re saying, Alex. And doing this every, single fucking day is enough, Alex.”
”But… I don’t want to be alone, I really like you… and…”
Alex began to tear up.
”But… but…”
”We’re still friends! We are! But you need to give me time for myself first, Alex.”
Alex looked down.
”Ok…”
Alex went back to looking outside the window, while Buddy kept his focus on the road.
“Wait, there!”
Buddy turned his head to see a shed. Just a simple, moss covered stoney springhouse.
”Alex, that’s nothing.”
”But that means there should be someone nearby!”
”Alex, that just means whoever there is, is very far away.”
”But, you never know, Buddy.”
“I know, but it’s not very hopeful for now.”
”All ri… wait… there!”
Buddy and Alex turned to see a large house on the corner, with a sign that immediately made Buddy now less thrilled given the information. The… odd part.
Arbogast Funeral Home.
”A… funeral home. Great.”
”Ok, Buddy! Now you can ask for directions!”
”Directions to where? There? Really?”
”I mean, it’s a plausible suggestion, Buddy.”
He could be right this time…
“Stay right here, Alex.”
”All right.”
Buddy got out of the car and walked slowly toward the house.
