Summary
The faint sound of some old country song trickles in from the car’s radio, the tap-tap-tap of his fingers on the steering wheel alluding to his nerves. Percy had always known he would one day return to the godless place he had once called home, however short a period of time that may have been. Sometimes, it was all he could think of, in the quiet moments after sharing laughs with those closest to him, the ones he called family. He thinks of what could have been, had Jason not died, had Bruce not sent him away, had he not discovered his heritage.
The What if’s? plaguing his every thought. It had gotten better as he had grown, learned to embrace the world around him rather than resent it. He made life long friends, he lost some, he had fallen in and out of love, he graduated high school, he’d gone to college. So many life changing experiences, and yet, he still found himself longing for the dreariness that was home.
