Chapter Text
As much as Leo loved the Waystation and it's inhabitants, he just wanted to be left alone.
Emmie and Jo were wonderful, respected his want to be alone, Gorgina was quiet at the start but she's taken quite an interest in watching him work. He doesn't mind, he adores kids. Lityerses didn't bother him at all, they talked occasionally, he made good conversation.
Then Calypso. She was.. weird. They'd broken up about 2 months ago. but.. she didn't seem to care. Often he'd get kissed to his cheek, head, sometimes even his lips. The Mom's go off on her for it.
He was trying to get Josephine to stop dotting on him, it was really embarrassing when she'd come in and wake him up because he quite often slept shirtless and he hated how skinny he was. Then Jo would force him to eat and blah blah blah.
Then a shimmering rainbow appeared infront of him. Annabeth and Percy. The girl was smiling, it wasn't often she looked so happy.. Percy wasn't looking at him, fidgeting with something outside of his view, his head rested on his girlfriends shoulder.
Leo felt an intense urge to cover himself.
Annabeth paid no heed. "Leo! Good morning."
"Uh.. morning?" He said, expression quite clearly confused. Annabeth never called unless it was really important.
Josephine leaned into the frame. "Who do we have?"
Ah right, she didn't know them. "Oh— Jo, this is Annabeth and Percy, Annabeth, Percy, this is Josephine."
They exchanged a quick greeting before Jo ruffled his hair. "I'll leave you, but you better get breakfast mister!"
"Yeah yeah.." and she left.
"Right." Annabeth cut through the silence, bringing his attention back to the IM. "You're probably wondering why I called you."
"Yep."
"Well, we have good news!" She smiled.
Good news? In demigod terms, that could meaning anything from, the gods are dead and we don't have to deal with them anymore, to, I only lost one limb on my quest!
He felt a dull sting where the nub of his arm was. The explosion did a fucking number on him. His right side was covered in scars, and his right arm literally gone.
"So.. Do you know about my cousin in Boston?"
"The dead one?"
"Yes."
"Kinda."
Annabeth sighed. "Well, he's a Norse demigod."
"There's more?"
"Sadly. Basically, one of their gods, Odin, has a.. Hotel.. of sorts, for worthy souls to become his soldiers for Ragnarock—what they consider to be the end of the world as we know it—anyone can go there. Norse, Greeks, mortals, Romans.."
Leo clicked his tongue, why the emphasis on Romans— wait.
"Well, uh.. Jason actually—"
"Nope."
Annabeth froze, looking at him with confused eyes through the misty rainbow.
"What?"
"I know what you're gonna say. I don't believe you. Bye Annabeth."
The daughter of Athena called out, "Wait—"
But Leo had already swiped his hand through the mist.
"I'm desperate." He grumbled. "Not stupid."
He got out of bed, swiftly making it, swiping out the Iris Messages that tried coming through. He pulled a shirt over his head, brushed his teeth. Made sure he looked a little presentable.
He walked out, gently padding his way to the kitchen. It was late, most would be off doing chores. Left it mostly empty, how he liked it.
Lityerses was the only one there, but he just sat there. He looked tired.
"What's up?" He asked quietly.
The son of Demeter shrugged. "Didn't sleep. Calypso kept bothering me all night. I wouldn't go into the forge today if I were you."
Leo was spreading butter over his toast, he turned to look at Lit with a confused expression. "Why..?"
"She doesn't have any chores. She's gonna sit around and wait for you like the freak she is. 'We just need a moment alone to talk!' She says."
He groaned, running a hand through his hair. "Holy fuck she's persistent.."
"That's a nice way of putting it." The cornhusker commented.
"Thanks for the heads up." He said. Lit nodded to him and he left the kitchen, he'd just coop himself up in his room.
Then the thoughts came in. What if Annabeth wasn't lying? What did Piper think? Why tell him?
Whatever. He'd believe it when he sees it. And he knew—maybe— that he wouldn't see it.
