My shaky voice echoes through the quiet cell and I know it wakes something in him and I see every single emotion pass over his face.
At that moment I saw the boy that had a room right next to mine just so we could get midnight snacks and stay up talking, the boy that would laugh with me for hours about nothing.
But then I see his face harden. His face close up, those beautiful eyes going emotionless again, and his grip on his knife tightening.
At that moment I didn't see the boy from a minute ago.
No this is the boy that left, packed up his stuff from his room and left when things got too hard
