Chapter Text

As the wedding’s lights magnify their glows under the dimming day that transitions into the dark night, the festivities aren’t over yet.

In fact, FJ & Sparkles still have quite the levity to share with everyone seated at the reception, where everyone gets to fill their tummies full after everything.

But first, they let the other adults have their chance first.

Rhubarb is the first to strut herself under a spotlight, as the sky is softening into lavender dusk.

“I’ve known Lily for decades, and I’ve seen her give so much of herself to others. Sometimes too much. For a while, I thought she’d never stop apologizing for existing.”

There are murmurs of agreement, even from those who don’t know the full story. F&S know that Rhu isn’t lying though.

“But today, she is here with someone who looks at her and sees no reason to apologize. Who doesn’t shrink her, or mold her into an ideal. And you know what? I used to be scared of that. Scared she’d get hurt again. But the truth is… I’ve never seen her so loved. Or so free.”

The tiny Troll lady paused, briefly meeting Lily’s thankful eyes. “This wedding may be simple. But the journey here wasn’t. So if anyone here is wondering why Lily didn’t want extravagance, it’s because this,” She gestures around the room, “this joy, this safety, this family? It’s already more than enough.”

Lily quietly wipes her eyes next to Chrom, as she and everybody else raises their glasses.

“To Lily. To courage. And to every part of her that finally gets to shine!”

~~~
Other adults get to have their turns too.
Adrian thanks Chrom for everything, for brotherhood. His eyes are still bloodshot, and Chrom has temporarily arrived on stage to give his dear younger bro a good hug.
Gloss gets to thank Lily for trusting Veneer, or else he would’ve been on that journey to love a sinner.
Mrs. Yarns thanks Lily for being her daughter, once again happily wiping her tears with her handkerchief.
It seems to be forever with each rotated friend speaking for Lily & Chrom. Until the microphones are allowed to be in F&S’s hands at last.
FJ raises his glass.
 “To the happy couple… and to us, the original historians of this romance!”
Sparkles proudly declares, following her brother’s gesture.
 “Exactly. We were there when it all began. The First Kiss™.”
Ceri is confused.
 “Wait, you actually watched their first kiss?”
FJ isn’t even hiding his boast at his own girlfriend.
 “‘Watched’ is underselling it. We documented it. Live coverage. We risked life and limb-”
Lily groans, feigning frustration.
 “You were literally just hiding in those bushes.”
Sparkles takes this as a vote of confidence.
 “And that’s why you should admire our dedication.”
Chrom, deadpan, sips on his champagne.
 “You did get caught. I opened the blinds one time when you two were spying us for our shoulder-leaning moment, and stared right at you.”
FJ scoffs.
 “Semantics.”
Twisty snickers.
 “So… you’re saying without you two, they wouldn’t be engaged right now?”
Sparkles takes most of the credit for herself and her brother.
 “I mean, we’re not saying we’re the sole reason, but-”
And FJ straight up admits it.
 “Yeah, that’s exactly what we’re saying.”
Sparkles chuckles with one more commentary.
“Heck, we even slapped a stamped “Bush Certified” sticker on their wedding mood board!”
FJ remarks.
“Had them custom-made. We’re both investors in your love story now.”
They clink their glasses together like smug goblins, while Lily hides her face in her hands to bury her amusement. She likes how much they’ve not lost themselves throughout the years, even when they’re now old enough to speak for her wedding.
The lively air keeps buzzing with warmth and chatter, until the crowd hushes as Rhubarb steps up, clinking a giant fork against her also gigantic glass.
“I have the honor - no, the absolute chaos - of unveiling a certain confection made with blood, sweat, tears… and enough butter to clog three arteries.”
The cake, which has been hidden behind a velvet drape, is the last big surprise.
Gasps and laughter erupt as a newly made fountain, the moment the drape is unveiled. Towering in three tiers, the wedding cake is elegantly frosted in lavender, soft pink, and pale blue - a perfect tribute to the bisexual flag, done tastefully in gradient layers. Delicate sugar roses spiral down the symmetrical sides, nestled between edible pearls and shimmering brushstrokes of luster dust.
“It’s so Lily, isn’t it? Right, Daddy G?” Sparkles whispers to Gloss, misty-eyed.
“And yet… so Veneer,” Gloss replies, watching his husband hide his shameful face behind a napkin.
Rhubarb smirks, confirming Gloss’s statement. “And before anyone asks… yes, Veneer, the least expected, shittiest cook I’ve met, made this. He locked himself in the kitchen for four days. Gloss later caught him crying over a collapsed mousse on the second night. FJ eventually tried to taste-test an undercooked sponge and almost lost a tooth. Oh boy, I wish you people were there to witness that mess!”
“I said it was experimental!” Veneer wails from the crowd.
“But!” Rhubarb adds, raising her glass with her prehensile hair, “He nailed it. He made a cake that reflects not just Lily’s pride, but her sweetness, elegance and the quiet courage it takes to show the world who you are. So let’s raise a fork to that!”
Cheers ring out as everyone exhilaratedly gets their plates ready. While Lily holds Chrom’s hand and whispers, “I’m never throwing out a single slice.”
~~~

Meanwhile, as everyone continues to enjoy the cake…

 Sparkles murmurs to FJ, readying to be a romantic shipper of a spy with him again. “Think we should, y’know… watch C&L from the bushes again?”

 FJ has a better idea, a glistening smirk appearing. “Absolutely not. We’re upgrading to drones this time.”

~~~
(13-14 weeks later…)
The morning sun pours gently like a dipper through the curtains, casting asymmetrical golden stripes across the rumpled sheets where Lily and Chrom lay tangled together.
A soft glow illuminates Lily’s belly, showing a subtle curve that wasn’t there before. On the bedside table, meanwhile, a tiny ultrasound photo stealthily peeks out from beneath a half-empty coffee mug.
Chrom brushes a loose strand of hair from his wife’s face, his fingers trembling slightly. “Ready for breakfast delivery, love?”
Lily smiles sleepily, fingers curling around his reliable hand. “As ready as I’ll ever be.”
Her husband cheekily jokes. “Unlike last time, where they burst in and had to flee in embarrassment, for they were ashamed to have invaded our intimacy by accident, right after we got married?”
“You can say that again.” She confirms with a soft laugh.
Just then, the door swings open with theatrical flair.
“Surprise!”
FJ, Sparkles, Ceridwen, Aries, Veneer, Gloss, Rhubarb, Mrs. Yarns, Twisty, Celeste, and half the neighborhood burst in, juggling breakfast trays loaded with rainbow pancakes, glittery muffins, and a mountain of fresh fruit. While Velveeta is being clumsily cradled in Ven’s baby sling, clapping at the intrusion.
Chrom’s eyes widen. “You guys… we’re kinda in the middle of something here.”
FJ grins mischievously, setting down a plate topped with syrup and sprinkles. “That’s the point! Breakfast surprise and announcement party  - all in one!”
Sparkles holds up a tiny onesie, embroidered with glittering letters ‘Future Heartbreaker’, pretending that it is a trophy. “Officially the cutest announcement ever.”
Chrom chuckles, squeezing Lily’s hand. “We’ve been married a few weeks now, but this little one’s definitely the best ‘plus one’ yet.”
Velveeta, who’s been learning how to walk recently, toddles over after Ven puts her down, jabbing a finger at the ultrasound photo with pure curiosity, then looking up at Lily with a toothy grin.
“Baby Velveeta?”
Gloss kneels down with a lighthearted smile, ruffling the toddler’s hair. “Almost, kiddo. Almost.”
Lily’s eyes shimmer with tears - not just from the surprise, but from the overwhelming love wrapped up in this moment. She already didn’t expect a lady at her age to have a good chance of successful conception, but to have everyone congratulating her… it feels like the best day ever.
Mrs. Yarns can’t help but kiss her daughter on the forehead. “Welcome to motherhood, my dear child.”
Chrom then pulls his wife close, whispering, “Here’s to marriage, family, and all the crazy beautiful chaos ahead.”
Outside, the sun climbs higher, the day brightened with endless possibilities. And somewhere nearby, a breakfast delivery courier knocks again. This time, to bring a tiny mug that reads ‘Promoted to Parents’.
FJ nibbles on a glittery pancake, eyes drifting toward the soft sunlight spilling across Lily’s glowing belly. Then towards Ceri, who is basking herself in immense joy of the event.
Suddenly, his desire to be wedded to his one and only Goddess of Rebirth must’ve amplified multiple…
“Wonder what it’ll be like… when it’s us?” He murmurs to his sister.
Sparkles, stirring her rainbow smoothie, tilts her head thoughtfully. Her pondering sight lands on Aries, who is also enjoying himself.
Holy fuck, her God of War is surely handsome, NGL. Being married to him will be a blessing.
“Do you think we’ll ever get a morning like this? Everyone crashing in with pancakes, yelling congratulations… chaos and love all tangled together?”
FJ smirks, a little wistful. “I guess we’ll find out. Hopefully with less spilled syrup on the floor.”
They exchange a glance, followed by a quiet, shared smile.
Whatever the future holds, they know one thing:
They’d figure it out, together. As soulbound best friends.
