Chapter Text

(The night before ep 6)
Jax stared at his ceiling, laying on his back on the ground. The rough carpet jammed into his tail, uncomfortably rubbing against it as he turned onto his side. He couldn’t even feel anymore- usually he desired to feel less human, to pretend none of this is real, but this felt different. Wrong.
The numb feeling in his head spread around his body, barely aware of his feet brushing against the grass themed floor. Caine gave him such a pathetic room, his weak bunny form only being amplified from the forest-jackrabbit look his room was generated in.
Anxiety crawled in his gut, his stomach twisting and churning with Ragatha’s words like food in a sick stomach. No matter how much he tried to pretend that she wasn’t talking about ribbit, but he knew she was. She knew too. She Hated him, and he deserved it, he was the reason ribbit was gone.
“GOOOD MORNING MY SUPERSTARS!!” Caine’s annoyingly loud voice rang through the halls, the long echoey hallways seeming to shift from the sudden change in volume.
Jax groaned, grasping his head as he sat up. It had been a long night of no sleep, frequent visits to RIBBITS door, and sobbing into his knees. Turns out this specific train of events is a recipe for migraines, which he could feel one coming on.
Lifting himself to his knees, he shrugged off his thoughts as best he could, checked to make sure he looked presentable, threw on the cleanest pair of overalls he had and bursting into the hallway, his signature grin hiding the small pathetic creature inside.
“O- oh hey Jax!” Ragatha had opened her door just as he passed, standing in her doorway as if she was scared to take a step towards him. Good. That’s the goal.
Jax grinned even harder, grinding his teeth in order to stop himself from bolting down the hallway at full speed. Instead, he stopped, a hand on his hip and a faux look of mockery in his eyes. “Mornin’ Rags! Hope you had awful nightmares!”
She huffed, crossing her arms and stepping into the hallway, facing him and stopping his path to the main room. “Jax, you can’t keep doing this- I know the truth!”
He tsked. “Raggy, let me go to breakfast. I’m not going to argue today, I am fine, and I do not care. Now move out of my way before I make you.” Shudders ran up his spine, the light of the hall assaulting his scleras more than usual. (somehow? Do they feel pain here- they can vomit so ig????) “
“WELCOME TO FOOD TIME MY MANIC MARRIONETTE MAIDS!” the floating teeth (flies?) floats into the room from the hallways, arms swinging as he does that stupid little dance he does. Even with his growing headache, Jax can’t help but chuckle at how silly he looks. Ribbit would’ve LOVED tha- wait no stop thinking about Ribbit.
(Sorry I have to end this chapter here I’m making this in school and I still need to publish more chapters of my other jax angst fic here more chapters for both coming soon)
