Work Header

A quiet Sunday morning in late winter

Summary:

Viktor had been awake for a while, lazily wrapped in the sheets. The sun had been raising over the horizon, and sunlight that passed through the curtains had been covering the bedroom in a golden glow. Viktor stared mindlessly at his hand, raised in front of him, covered in the ever-moving lights and shadows, depending on how he twisted his fingers. It felt as if Viktor was manipulating the light, as if he could do magic…

“What are you doing, amor?” asked Jayce beside him, his voice muffled against the pillow.

“I was thinking.”

Work Text:

Viktor had been awake for a while, lazily wrapped in the sheets. A quiet Sunday morning in late winter, there was no hurry to start the day today. The sun had been raising over the horizon, and sunlight that passed through the curtains had been covering the bedroom in a golden glow. Around him, everything was cast in shadows and lights creating an ever-changing spectacle that had been keeping Viktor entertained for a while. Now, the sunlight had reached him because his side of the bed was the one closest to the windows, and Viktor stared mindlessly at his hand, raised in front of him, covered in the ever-moving lights and shadows, depending on how he twisted his fingers. It felt as if Viktor was manipulating the light, as if he could do magic…

“What are you doing, amor?” asked Jayce beside him, his voice muffled against the pillow.

“I was thinking.” Viktor smiled and turned his head to stare at him, while lowering his hand. Jayce was laying face down, cuddling the pillow, staring at him with one eye open. “Good morning, Jayce.” He smiled back.

“Morning, V.” Jayce shuffled between the sheets, till he was wrapped around Viktor instead of the pillow, laying on his side. Viktor caressed Jayce’s arm over his chest. Jayce answered by covering his shoulder with kisses as light as a butterfly fluttering its wings.

“Thinking about what?”

“Mmmh, I don’t know, a bit of everything and nothing. About us. Life. Our projects. Me… Eh, I was thinking mostly about me.”

“A bit egotistical, don’t you think?”

“Lásko!” Viktor smacked jokingly Jayce’s hand, recognizing what he had told Jayce the very first time they had met, so many years ago, in the corridors of Piltover U. “I was having a moment here.”

“My apologies, cariño. Go on, please.”

“I was thinking about my hands.”

As in cue, Jayce tangled his fingers with Viktor’s, and holding hands, he raised both above their heads. When they moved, sometimes their arms touched. The shadows and lights cast against their fingers were different now.

“Were you thinking in how they’re so cute… and effective in bed?”

Viktor’s face turned red. He needn’t to look at Jayce to know he was smirking at him. Then, Jayce caressed the back of his hand, inviting Viktor once again to keep talking.

“They’ve changed so much, after all these years… I mean, not just because time has passed, since I was a child till now, but...” He shrugged. “Eh, tomorrow will be ten years since I went on T and, I don’t know, to see my hands like that, under the sunlight, they’ve changed so much, I got a bit existential, because my life has changed so much.” Viktor turned his head to stare at Jayce again, trying not to cry. Jayce’s chin was resting on Viktor’s shoulder and had a proud smile on his lips. “An incredible change, I might add. Quite magical, don’t you think?” He raised his eyebrows.

“Sometimes you’re the worst, V.” Jayce’s smile widened, as he held Viktor’s hand and kissed each one of his knuckles.

“That’s why you love me.” Viktor then hold Jayce’s face and kissed him passionately, almost falling over him on the sheets. After, to relieve some incommodity for his leg before it hurt he shifted positions till he lay sideways, his head over Jayce’s chest, his heart beating against Viktor’s ear. It wasn’t quiet.

“So…” Jayce started, pensive, while he hugged Viktor sideways. “So tomorrow we shall celebrate, don’t we?”

“Alright.” Viktor smiled. “For as long as today we don’t leave the bed.”
