Chapter Text
THE THREE VILLARREAL DAUGHTERS MANAGED TO escape Casa Villarreal, its residents in shambles over the disastrous wedding, and in the car, with Paulina opting to drive, Alejandra texted their parents and informed them that Daniela needed time out from the place to recover, clear her head, and come to terms with her failed romance with Vito.
To say that the entire family was shook by his deception was an understatement; half were livid, slamming doors and cursing at the news, which showed the Villamizar brothers in custody for the murder of Geraldo Salas and a string of other murders and robberies, while others were overjoyed, relieved such an evil cretin was away from Daniela for good and wouldn't come to destroy their own family.
All hoped Daniela would recover soon, worried for her mental health, but in reality, she couldn't be any better than she was in the backseat of her car, smiling like the crazy deviant she was, as her younger sister drove the fifteen minutes to Casa Villamizar.
Upon arrival, they spotted three police cars parked around the site, investigating, and Paulina parked in a clump of trees a distance away. The three sisters snuck onto the property, and noticing police officers talking at the front doors, they crouched in the hedgerows, waiting, waiting.
"Anyone else at the mansion?"
"Nope. Deserted. Reyes wanted everyone taken into custody for questioning."
"Smart. I did not like these guys at all."
"We can only pray this brings some semblance of peace to Monterrey."
"Yeah."
Paulina, squealing, butted Daniela on her shoulder. "Empty houseeeee," she purred, and Daniela's eyes burned with thirsty fire.
It was all theirs to plunder now, and whatever was in that chest... Vito and his brothers wouldn't be around to protect it.
You reap just what you sow, huh, Vito?
The police officers wrapped up their conversation, moving away, and soon, were joined by the rest stationed at Casa Villamizar. They hopped in their cars, driving away, and once they were gone, the sisters ascended out of the hedgerows.
Time to capitalize.
They tried the doors, locked, but Alejandra always came prepared for the picking with her bobby pin. There were two clicks, and then they were inside, running into the dining room, down the hall, and stopping at Vito's study.
Doors? Locked, and Alejandra again worked her magic. Daniela pried them open, and like a queen, she pranced into the room as Solecito, facing the portrait of Carlos Villamizar.
Ugly man, but behind every ugly duckling was something beautiful.
She twiddled the key in her hands, moving up to the portrait, and though it was heavy, it was no obstacle too great for Paulina and Alejandra, lifting it up just enough to reveal a secret compartment beneath. She popped the panel, throwing it haphazardly to Vito's desk and grabbing what was stored behind it: a brown, gold-plated chest.
"Pau, Ale, you ready?" Daniela probed, aligning the key with the lock.
"Ready."
"Ready."
There was no count to three needed, and Daniela inserted the key, turning it left.
Click. The top unlatched, and Solecito, without hesitation, flung the lid up, her, Paulina, and Alejandra's faces suddenly illuminated in a blue so bright, it was like they had been blessed by the La Rosa Azul Loteria card in spirit.
The chest may have been only medium-sized, but inside were stacks, upon stacks, upon stacks, of hundred dollar bills. A sinful amount of hundred dollar bills.
So many in possession that there was seemingly no end to the chest.
"Oh my God," Alejandra breathed, amazed, but not at the bills.
No. There was something even more grand than the wads of cash, and it glowed.
They glowed like La Rosa Azul, a venomous blue, but they were jewels, precious, sacred blue sapphires, perfectly carved into the shape of diamonds, wearable by a chain of pearls hooked to a notch on the top.
Daniela was almost lost for words, but she picked up one of the glowing necklaces, studying it, and her irises had almost fully consumed the brown in her eyes.
"Holy fuck... these are worth millions."
"And the cash in that chest? That's enough to be millions," Paulina noted, utterly flummoxed.
Millions upon millions of dollars all theirs to own for themselves, and the realization dropped on their heads.
Daniela, Paulina, and Alejandra all turned to face each other, and Daniela wasn't even able to laugh. This wasn't even a laughing matter.
This was a deathly serious revelation - one that didn't just give the Villarreal sisters extreme power.
"Guys... we're gonna become one of the wealthiest families in the whole world."
Paulina and Alejandra couldn't respond to Daniela, and all three sisters stared down at the chest.
They could only ask one single question with the power and wealth they now held.
"Dime, ¿qué más quieres?"
