Chapter Text
Through the darkness of the night, I quickly pull the car into the parking spot ahead of me, the haunted cottage that we're exploring tonight. Even from the outside, nothing quite seems out of the ordinary, but we VKs are determined to shake things up tonight.
After Ben offered to meet us here, Carlos and I decided to research Halloween and this particularly haunted cottage. From what we’ve seen online, it still doesn’t seem very scary, but I don’t know. I'm curious to see what's inside.
“You ready?” I ask my crew as I put the car into the park and grab my purse from the floorboard of Jay’s seat behind me.
“Duh. Are the AKs here yet?” Mal asks as she opens the car door and hops out. Outside, she stands on her tiptoes as she gazes around. “I don’t see anyone’s car I recognize yet, so I guess not. Now come on!” Mal calls out, motioning for us to come out. I sigh as I open the car door to meet up with my best friend.
“Well, it looks like we beat them then. Hopefully, they'll get here soon so we don’t keep them waiting,” I point out, making Mal chuckle as she puts her hands on her hips.
“They probably chickened out. Maybe they can’t even handle scary things in Auradon. Imagine their faces once they get a taste of wickedness from the Isle,” Mal declares, making me chuckle as the boys climb out.
“Exactly. The AKs aren’t going to know what’s coming. Do you have the tools, Evie?” Jay inquires, leaning up against the door. From beside him, Carlos still looks nervous, messing with his hands.
I quietly sigh as I gaze at the boy. I'm starting to regret bringing him out here in the first place, even if the others insist, despite how excited I am to try and trick the AKs.
“I don’t know about this, guys. I don’t want to upset them. They might get mad,” Carlos brings up.
I approach him to wrap my arm around his petite frame, feeling his slight shaking underneath me. I thought long and hard about him not coming along and maybe just letting him stay in the dorms or hang out with other tech club people. But Mal and Jay were adamant about his coming along, and even Carlos argued, so eventually, I gave in. But maybe now he’s realizing this might not have been the best idea.
“We'll be fine, pup. And yes, I have everything. All we have to do is wait for AKs to show up.” A new car enters the parking lot as if right on cue. This time, a short-looking limousine. The windows are tinted, so we can’t see inside, but I will assume it’s the Auradon kids.
I pull away and clutch my purse close to my body. There’s no way they’ll know, but I’d rather be safe and let it be a complete surprise. “They’re here~” Mal calls out, making me smirk as I watch the limo park and the AKs climb out of the car.
Mal puts on her charming smile as Ben comes straight over to her. “Hey, dragon,” Ben whispers, kissing the top of her head. As the couple has their moment, I glance over at the others. Audrey, Jane, and Chad all climb out of the limo. I was expecting the girls to come along. Chad, on the other hand, is not so much.
But I absolutely can't wait to give the prince a real scare. He isn't going to see what's coming!
“Hey, Ben. Seems like you brought the whole group. Wasn’t quite expecting all of them coming,” Mal points out, obviously talking about Chad without trying to give too much away.
The blonde-haired "Prince" just scoffs, rolling his eyes with his hands in his belt loops, obviously trying to play it cool while doing a terrible job.
“We ran into him on the way here. He wanted to come along, so we just let him. I hope that’s okay,” Ben explains in an overly sweet way. Mal returns with a tight smile, her eyes clearly plotting how we need to adjust our plans.
Of course, the young King or any of the other AKs have no idea what we're planning.
“Yeah, that's totally fine. The more, the merrier, am I right?” Mal replies, glancing over at Chad, still standing off to the side, away from the girls, just gazing around the haunted cottage in front of us.
“Exactly! Anyways, are you four ready to head inside?” Ben inquires, making Mal nod as she turns back to us. Of course, we're ready to explore the haunted cottage.
I brightly smile, coming up to stand beside my best friend. “Yep. Now we probably need to get going, or we won’t have enough time to get through everything,” I remark, wanting to get it started before it gets too late.
“Right, we should probably head in now. Come on,” Ben responds before guiding us to the front. I glance behind me to see Audrey with her arms crossed, clearly seeming bored. Jane's obviously fearful, hiding behind Audrey, and Chad is scoffing as we approach the haunted cottage.
“You know. I doubt this thing will even be scary. It’s going to be so fake,” Chad confesses, making Jane shake her head beside him.
“You don’t know that! It could end up being really scary. Are you sure this is a good idea, Ben? We can always just get some dinner or something from somewhere else,” Jane offers, making Ben sigh as he comes to a pause.
“I promised the VKs we would try to come to a haunted cottage to show how Auradon does Halloween. I figured this would be the perfect idea. You don’t have to go in, but I am,” Ben informs, making Jane sigh as she stands close behind Audrey, clearly still not seeming into the idea.
“And yeah, a haunted cottage? Haunted cottages are so lame. First off, cottages are so tiny compared to castles. And besides, what about the parties?” Chad remarks as we reach the top of the stairs to enter the "haunted" attraction.
“We can show them all that stuff later. I thought haunted cottages were a great place to start. And they can be scary if they’re good,” Audrey replies, making Mal and I chuckle. Yeah, it will probably be scary, but not exactly for us.
“Well, from what Ben was saying, Haunted cottages are the scariest part of Halloween because you’re actually in there experiencing everything. But you know, we’ll see,” Mal reveals, winking at me. I have to stifle back a laugh.
“Exactly, but you never know; this place might be terrifying. We’ll just have to wait and see.” I tell the AKs as they stare at the haunted cottage and all the different “scary” decorations on the wall.
I hear Chad scoff from behind us as we approach a “do not enter” sign on the door, but Ben clearly ignores it as he opens it anyway.
When we enter the haunted cottage, a person in a very clearly fake skeleton costume sits behind the desk. There isn’t anyone else in the room, so I’m assuming this place isn’t very busy, or everyone is already inside the attraction. The decorations in the rooms are also very similar to the outside, with a couple of fake skeletons chained up against the wall. There was a slightly torn and tattered sofa, along with fake cobwebs and cracks everywhere. It’s not cute, but it reminds me of the Isle, at least a little bit.
Ben walks over to the desk to get checked in. I watch as Audrey goes over to Jay, leaving Carlos, Mal, and me to ourselves. Carlos appears calmer now that we’re inside and away from the chilly October air outside. The Isle used to be bitterly cold, so tonight has not been a welcome reminder of that.
“You feeling better, pup?” I calmly ask Carlos, who is gazing at a fireplace on one of the sides. The fire isn’t on, but pictures are above it with other knick-knacks on the mantle.
“Yeah, this place isn’t as scary as I thought it would be. This place isn’t anything like Cruella de Vil’s place, and that place was obviously terrifying. This place looks more fake than anything. I mean, these skulls don’t even seem real,” Carlos mentions, pointing to a “skull” of a person sitting on the mantle, clearly some sort of plastic instead of actual dead bone.
“Yeah, I didn’t think so either. It’s like this place is trying too hard to be scary. My mom doesn’t even have to try to be scary, and her place is so much more terrifying than this. The potions and her old relics are horrifying enough,” Mal remarks, chuckling at the decoration of the place.
“Mother’s basement was scary enough with all her potions and artifacts. Along with the abandoned parts of the castle, no one dares venture into the broken parts that Mother breaks after one of her rages. This place is nothing,” I remark with a slight shiver. The AKs might think the place might be scary, but nothing compares to the Isle.
But before any of us continue with our casual reveals of our pasts, Mal takes charge to stop us. "Anyways, moving on. You ready to see how fake this place is?” Mal teases, making me chuckle as I glance at Jane, terrified at the room’s look.
I hate to drag the girl into our trick if she's just going to be miserable the whole time. Like Carlos, Jane can be somewhat sensitive to scary things. I want to make sure she's okay before we drag her into the attraction. Even if it's not going to scare us, it doesn't mean she isn't going to be terrified out of her mind.
I don't want that to happen. So, I should probably go check on the girl.
“Uh, I’ll be right back,” I tell my two friends as I approach the young girl.
“Hey, are you going to be okay? You know you can always wait outside,” I offer the girl. I can tell she’s uncomfortable, and while that can be fun in some parts, at the end of the day, we know it’s better to prevent freakouts when possible. We don’t want to make anyone miserable.
But Jane shakes her head with only some confidence. “I’ll be fine. Audrey really wanted to come and insisted that I come along. It can’t be that scary, right? It’s just some props and decorations meant to scare you. None of it’s real, so it can’t actually hurt me,” Jane reminds herself, making me sigh as I place my hands on my hips.
While I'm still concerned, I'm not going to press the matter too much; I don't want to seem suspicious. “If you say so, but I don’t know what we’re going to see in there, so just be prepared if anything goes down,” I remind the younger girl, who nods, but her body doesn’t relax.
“I know. I’ll be fine,” Jane squeaks, making me sigh as I hug her.
“You will be, and besides, we’ll all be together to get through it,” I reassure the girl before walking back to my crew, a serious gaze in my eyes.
“Stay away from Jane, got it? I just think it would be too far with her,” I order, making it clear that we're not going to pull away on the young fairy. I don’t want to upset anyone so much that it becomes more miserable than funny.
“Oh, come on, I wasn’t even thinking about trying to get her. But Chad, on the other hand, is completely fair game, and you can’t convince me otherwise,” Mal reassures, making me sigh in relief.
“Chad is fine; he probably needs to get a bit of a scare,” I admit, making Mal chuckle as we watch Ben come over.
“Oh, trust me, he definitely does,” Mal jokes. Oh, I agree. Chad isn’t the nicest and is acting overly dramatically right now. He needs to get a little scared and learn his place.
“Okay, I have the tickets. We can head inside whenever,” Ben informs, holding up all the tickets. Perfect, it’s about time we get moving.
“Got it. Let’s go see what secrets this place holds,” Mal teases. We gather everyone in the room and head through the little door to the start of the tour.
The first room is a decent size. It seems to be a dining room—a long table in the center of the room with a black tablecloth sitting on it. Fake candles on the center part of the table are the only light in the room. I glance at the plates on the table. While the “food” is clearly fake, guts like hearts, stomachs, and brains sit on the plates. Along with fake monster statues, they sit at the table, staring off into the distance.
Mal and I walk up to what seems to be a vampire, with only a tiny cup of “blood” sitting on the table. Once we get close to the fake monster, it turns its head to face us. The face is pale, and a little “blood” surrounds the mouth. Mal and I don’t even flinch.
Jane and Audrey get close to one of the zombies, and once it turns, Jane lets out a stunned yelp, jumping back. We all turn to stare at the young girl as she breathes heavily, placing a hand on her chest.
“Yeah, I don’t like this. It looks so real!” Jane admits, making Audrey scoff from beside her, stepping away from the zombie as they turn their head back.
“Oh, come on. It doesn’t look that scary. Fake Halloween decor isn’t that scary, Jane. You know that,” Audrey reminds Jane, who shakes her head as she shies away from all the other fake monsters in the room.
“Nuh-uh! Remember when we were seven, and your mom and dad were helping out with one of the horror nights at the castle? They dressed in those scary, dead ghost costumes and tried to scare everyone! Now that was scary,” Jane brings up, making Audrey immediately glare at her, clearly not impressed at her bringing that up.
“Yeah, but we were kids. We’re older now! We know it isn’t real now. It’s not that scary anymore,” Audrey admits, making Jane sigh. Obviously, she’s still not entirely sure if she believes her friend.
“Yeah, but there are still jumpscares, and you know how much I hate those,” Jane responds, making Audrey chuckle as she moves to explore the room more.
I turn back to Mal, who looks a little pale. I immediately place my hand on her shoulder, making Ben look over; his eyes meet Mal, and he rushes over in concern.
“Mal? Are you okay?” Ben asks his girlfriend, who just stares off blankly. I take my other hand to place it on her head. She feels a little warm.
“Mal? Mal? Are you there?” I calmly ask the girl, softly shaking her to try to get her more alert. Mal blinks a few times before finally looking up.
“Yeah, sorry, I just feel a little dizzy. I don’t know what’s going on,” Mal reveals. I glance at the boys, silently ordering them to get over here. Jay and Carlos come running over a concerned gaze in their eyes.
“Okay, do you need to sit down for a second?” I ask Mal, who shakes her head as she leans against me. I immediately wrap an arm around her to help her stay up.
“No, no. I just need to step out, I think. You guys can carry on without me. I’ll be okay,” Mal assures me, making me nod in understanding as I try to lead her to the door to the outside.
“Wait. Do you want me to wait with you? I don’t want you to be alone, Mal,” Ben jumps in, making Mal groan as we come to a stop.
“No. I don’t want to ruin your night, Ben. Just go around the place with Evie and the boys. They can tell me about it later,” Mal promises, making Ben sigh as I manage to get the door open.
“Mal will be fine, Ben. She can’t wait outside until we’re done. She has her phone if she needs to call, but I think it would be better if we went ahead and went through it without her,” I inform Ben, who sighs as I step out into the lobby.
Once I close the door, I give Mal a quick hug. “Stay safe, and don’t do anything stupid, got it?” I whisper to the purple-haired girl, who smirks as she pulls away from me.
“I won’t. Now get back in there and pretend nothing is up. I’ll see you soon,” Mal replies with a smirk, making me chuckle before opening the door and heading back inside the room.
“Okay, Mal’s just going to wait in the lobby for us to get finished. Are you guys ready to move on to the next room?” I ask, already going around the table to enter the next room.
“Is Mal going to be okay?” Jane asks me, making me give her a soft smile, hoping to make her feel better after her little freakout earlier.
“Mal’s going to be just fine. She just feels a bit sick, as all. She probably needs to sit for a few minutes, but I’ll take her back to the dorm and ensure she’s okay. But for now, she’ll be fine,” I reassure everyone as we pass the threshold into the next room.
“If you say so,” Jane quietly responds from behind me. While I appreciate their concern about the girl, I kind of wish they had dropped it so they wouldn’t keep bringing it up. Besides, they’re about to have a lot more to worry about.
Over the next couple of rooms, they supposedly try to keep getting scarier and scarier. At this point, Jane is completely terrified and clinging to Carlos and me. Jay and Audrey are also close after Audrey gets jump scared by a fake cat that jumps out. Ben is standing off the side, obviously still sad that Mal isn’t here. Chad, on the other hand, has now started to jump at every noise after the lights were turned off in the first room. So much for him being the “brave” one. Not that I expected him to be in the first place.
So far, the haunted cottage has been less exciting for the boys and me. The jump scares aren’t that good; everything looks pretty fake, and it's pretty easy to tell from far away. It’s boring, but at least it’s kinda cool to see what Auradon thinks Halloween is like.
We head up some stairs onto the second floor of the haunted cottage. Jay and Audrey are leading, with me following close behind, followed by everyone else. When we reach the top of the stairs, Audrey looks ahead and suddenly gasps, stepping back and almost banging into me. I quickly step back, trying to avoid her accidentally hitting me.
“What’s wrong?” Jay asks in a confused tone, gazing around to find what spooked the girl. Audrey points in front of her into the darkness. Jay squints his eyes to see something peeking out of the darkness.
“Whoa, I wasn’t expecting that thing to be there. What is it?” Jay asks as he slowly creeps up to the creature. I try to figure out what it is, but seeing in the darkness is nearly impossible. All I see is a bright pair of green eyes. Carlos reaches the top of the stairs, and I push him and Jane behind me since she managed to get to the top of the stairs as well.
I watch in shock as Jay slowly gets closer to the dark figure. Suddenly, the creatures jump out to try to grab the boy. Jay nearly yells as he darts off, only to get caught in a giant cobweb, yelling as he tries to escape.
“Jay!” I cry as I try to run to the boy, but Carlos just pulls me back, wrapping his arms around me to prevent me from running over and getting caught as well.
“Dude, what are you doing? Get out of there!” Chad yells, clearly unimpressed that Jay is acting like this.
Jay manages to get out of the cobwebs. Still, as he stumbles back toward us, another door opens, hitting him in the back and causing him to fall to the ground. He hits the ground with a loud “thump.”
Once he hits the ground, Audrey runs to the boy, sinking to the ground to check on him. I take shallow breaths as I slowly press forward.
Before Audrey can touch Jay, he is surrounded by a black mist and disappears into thin air. Audrey screams as she jumps up and scurries away from where Jay disappeared.
“WHERE DID HE GO!?” Audrey cries out, clearly starting to panic. I push past Audrey to look around. Yeah, he’s nowhere to be seen.
“Guys! Jay’s gone! Where in the world did he go?” I exclaim in shock as I return to the group. I immediately notice tears pricking Jane’s eyes, making me bring her into a hug, feeling increasingly horrible.
“Shh. I'm sure we’ll find him. He couldn’t have gone far. This could just be part of the show. Someone here must have magic to cause this to happen. But we’ll find him,” I try to reassure the girl, keeping myself calm and level-headed.
“How do you know that? He could be gone forever!” Jane cries, making me sigh as I glance over at my friends. Audrey comes over and pulls Jane from me.
“He won’t be gone forever. At least, I hope not,” Audrey quietly whispers. I sigh as I glance back at the spot where Jay disappeared.
“Do you think we need to tell someone?” Ben inquires, fiddling with his hands nervously. Tonight has obviously not gone according to his plans. And I have a feeling it's only going to get worse from here.
“Yeah, but where do we go? We’re like in the middle of this thing!” I remind. There’s no way out now. We’re going to have to finish going through the maze.
“Uh uh! I’ve gotta get out of here!” Chad cries before trying to run down the stairs. He manages to get down a few steps but slams into an invisible force field, causing him to fall back.
“Great, if this night could get worse,” I whisper as Ben carefully steps down the stairs to check on the blonde, who got knocked out after hitting the forcefield.
“Chad, come on, wake up!” Ben cries out as he tries to reach out to touch the boy, but just like before, dark smoke covers Chad before he vanishes into thin air.
“Okay, that’s it. Something is going on here. This isn’t normal!” Audrey declares as Jane starts to cry again, making me try to comfort her.
“Agreed, but let’s just try to move on. The sooner we get out of here, the sooner we can figure out what’s going on,” I bring up, making everyone nod before cautiously moving forward through the "haunted cottage."
“But where are we supposed to go next? I don’t want any more of us to end up like Jay and Chad,” Carlos reminds me. He has been staying quiet for a while, and he's clearly uncomfortable about this continuing to happen.
“Maybe just through this way?” Audrey starts walking through an opening. We follow, curious to see what’s on the other side.
Once Audrey enters the darkness, she cries briefly before going completely silent. The lights turn on, and I notice that now she’s gone. Jay, Chad, and Audrey are gone. I scan around in confusion.
“Audrey?” I call out, gazing around, trying to find the other girl, but she is nowhere to be seen. Once everyone enters the room, I realize she must be gone.
“She’s gone too! Okay, what’s going on? I can’t believe this is happening!” Jane cries out, walking back to the wall and sobbing harder. I sigh as the young girl sits beside her.
“Okay, I don’t know what’s happening, but we need to get going. We have to get through this place,” I tell the others as I bring Jane into a side hug.
“Yeah, but all of us keep disappearing! How are we going to get through this thing?” Carlos admits, making me sigh as I stare down.
“We just have to try. We can’t go backward; it’s blocked. We just have to stay together and get through it,” I acknowledge as I pull away and stand up.
“But I don’t want anyone else to disappear. Let’s just stay here and call someone. Some workers can come in and guide us out. This has gone too far,” Ben argues, pacing back and forth in the room, absolutely freaking out and shaking.
“We’ll be fine. I think we just need to keep moving forward. We’ve been here for a while; it can’t be too far. And besides, this might just be part of the show,” I remark as I start trying to go into the next room, but Ben reaches out to stop me.
“No! I’m not going to let anything happen to anyone else. We’re staying together,” Ben declares, making me sigh in frustration. I will not just stay here for someone to come in and “rescue us.”
“No! We can’t just stay here. If anything, that puts us at more risk. We can all stay together and make it through the rest of this place! Now, we need to go before another one of us disappears,” I argue as I storm over to the door.
“Evie, don’t! Stop!” Ben calls out, making me groan as I stop right in front of the door.
“What else are we supposed to do? We can’t just stay here forever!” I proclaim in frustration. I storm through the door, turning and running down the stairs. We need to keep moving, and I won’t let Ben hold us up!
“Evie, stop! What are you thinking!” Ben cries out as he follows me down the stairs. I have to hold back my laughter as I speed down the stairs. I hear Ben’s footsteps behind me, followed by Carlos’s, and I assume Jane’s.
As I descend the stairs, the room gets darker and darker; soon enough, it’s complete darkness. When I get to the bottom of the stairs, I gaze around, hardly able to see anything. I keep walking until I reach possibly the center of the room. Suddenly, I feel someone wrap their arms around me, not tightly but enough to make it seem like someone grabbed me.
A blast of purple magic shoots out towards a single light on the ceiling before me, causing it to flicker to life. It lights just enough so that when Ben, Carlos, and Jane get to the bottom of the stairs, they can see me but not the dark figure holding onto me.
“Evie! NO! LET HER GO!” Ben yells once his eyes land on mine. He tries to step forward and get to me, but the “creature” pulls me back further into the darkness.
“Ben! Help!” I cry out, trying to get out of the person’s grip, but the figure tightens her grip. Ben growls deeply as he tries to lunge forward, but he stops and freezes as the creature’s eyes start to glow their sickly green once again.
“Don’t step closer,” the figure holding me booms, dragging me to the side. Ben's stare is furious, breathing heavily as he tries to keep himself from lunging once again.
My eyes land on Carlos and Jane. Carlos seems nervous again, struggling to keep himself from running towards me or away. He should know what’s going on, but it doesn’t mean that it’s not going to freak him out. On the other hand, Jane looks like she’s about to bolt any second. Tears are streaming down her face as she watches in terror.
“I don’t know who you are, but you'd better let her go now. That’s an order from your king,” Ben declares as if he really thinks that would work.
“No! And you better listen to me. If you want your little friend back or any of your friends back, you'd better listen to me,” the figure declares with a dark chuckle. Ben pants heavily, his eyes wide in fear, but he tries to keep himself together.
“What do you want? Why have you taken my friends?” Ben questions, trying to keep himself together to stop himself from freaking out.
“Answer my question first,” the “creature” slyly reveals. Ben’s hands clutch as he takes a single step forward. His face is a mixture of emotions as he braces himself for the question.
“Fine, what is it?” Ben asks, glaring at the figure behind me. From behind me, she starts chuckling, the voice immediately ringing familiarity in my ears.
“Do you think the Isle can do better at Halloween than Auradon now?” the figure inquires before making another blast of purple sparkles to light up the room.
Once the lights turn on, dark purple smoke surrounds the figure before revealing Mal in her dark purple leather jacket and black jeans, just like before. My best friend releases me, a mischievous smile on her face.
“Mal!? You’re doing this!” Ben cries out in shock, making Mal burst out laughing as she motions out of the room.
“Jay!” Mal calls out, causing Jay to drag a practically thrashing Chad. Audrey then calmly walks out from behind him. None of them is hurt and is completely fine.
“Oh, you should have seen the look on your face! Mal got you so good!” Jay teases once he comes into the room. He releases Chad from his grip, making him turn around to glare.
“Don’t hold me too rough next time, dude! That wasn’t funny! I thought I was actually kidnapped! I’m a prince; I can’t be kidnapped!” Chad declares as he storms over to stand beside Jane. Audrey walks over to the younger girl, causing Jane to cling to the other girl, finally calming down.
“Please don’t do that again! Are you all okay?” Jane asks, making Audrey nod as she glances at Jay with a sweet smile.
“Yeah, Jay was the one who grabbed and was surprisingly gentle. Apparently, he and Mal planned this whole thing out,” Audrey explains, making Jane’s eyes widen in realization.
“Really! Well, I’ll admit you got me so well. I had no clue what was going on,” Jane confesses, pulling away from her friend, still trying to take all the information in.
I watch as Carlos runs over to me, and I bring him into a hug. “I’m okay, pup. You did really well, by the way,” I praise the slightly younger boy, making me chuckle as he pulls away.
“I tried. Now, can we go, please? This place isn’t as exciting as I hoped it would be,” Carlos admits, making me chuckle as I glance at Mal and Ben.
“I can’t believe you tricked me! You planned this all with Jay!” Ben cries out, making Mal chuckle as she motions for me to come over.
“Yep, and Evie and Carlos too! We were trying to scare you a bit since this place clearly isn’t going to do it. We just wanted to show you that the Isle can be even scarier than Auradon,” Mal declares, making Ben playfully roll his eyes.
“Fine. You win. You got me. I can’t believe you did that,” Ben admits, making Mal chuckle as she stands tall and proud.
“What can I say? I can’t help being mischievous!” Mal reveals, doing a little twirl. “Now, that was the end of the haunted cottage anyway. You ready to head back to the school?” Mal asks Ben, who sighs as his body finally relaxes.
“I guess. Just don’t ever do that again?” Ben begs, making Mal sigh as she rolls her eyes.
“We’ll see. Now, let’s get out of here. I want to see if there is any camera footage of what went down. I want to have that recording forever!” Mal teases as she gets to the door to leave the haunted cottage. Ben’s eyes widen as he chases after the girl.
"Okay, maybe not, Mal! Can we talk about this?" Ben cries out before following after his girlfriend, making us all laugh.
I chuckle as I watch the others leave the room. Carlos and I leave last. Now that everything has started to calm down, I can see the mixture of relief and joy in the other AK's eyes as we finally leave the "haunted attraction."
I'll say this night was mostly a success. I feel bad that Jane was so scared, but it was intriguing seeing Ben, Chad, and Audrey getting all scared but still having a good time. Especially Ben, who was trying to show us how Auradon does Halloween, and we ended up completely turning the cards on them. This night will definitely be one we’ll remember for a long time.
