Chapter Text
Rumi was the leader of Huntr/x, that's a fact. Being the leader came with a lot more responsibilities but she was trained for this her whole life.
She had just finished an hour-long meeting about the group's upcoming trip to Japan. She had settled misunderstandings, arrangements and accommodation.
Rumi was so ready to get home and enjoy the comfort of her girlfriends.
“Good evening Miss Ryu,” their driver greeted as Rumi hopped into the car. He was a nice man in his 50s who's been working with them since they debuted. He was someone Rumi could never be mean to even if she tried.
“Good evening Min-Jung, how are the kids?” Rumi replied, getting situated in the back seat. She put her purse on the chair next to her and clicked her seat belt on.
“Constantly complaining about university work, but they seem to be having fun outside the abundance of work.” They were now on the road. The lively view of Seoul greeted Rumi as she looked out the window.
She then moved to get her phone, letting Mira and Zoey know about her return. Zoey replied with close up photos of a sleeping Mira which made her smile.
“That's good, engineering is a busy study, it's good that they still have time” Rumi quickly saved the photos and put her phone down before it made her nauseous.
They drove onto the highway. The driver opened the window and Rumi shot him a confused look because the AC was on.
“Rumi" The driver's voice was slurred. That brought Rumi to attention. They were now swerving on the highway.
“Min-Jung!” Rumi had two options; sit there, get ready for impact, or grab the wheel and try to save lives. She was raised to save lives, she had to.
Rumi sprung to action, unbuckled her seatbelt and reached to the front wheel. Having no license she was at a loss of what to do. She pushed the hazard lights as she tried to steer the car straight.
Min-Jung was now completely unconscious, the car was slowing down quickly.
The car behind them hit them dead on at 100km/h.
Her body was forced onto the middle console as her hand flew back in an awkward angle from the airbag.
They were slammed by a different car, causing their car to tumble on the highway throwing Rumi’s body like a rag doll and eventually onto the concrete.
Rumi woke up alone on the edge of the highway. In pain and alone. How she always thought she'd end up.
Some part of her told her she should get away from the edge where she can see other cars driving underneath her.
She's in so much pain.
“I want Mira and Zoey” she found herself thinking.
It hurts to breathe.
She was on the edge of the highway, far away from the crash. How'd she even get here?
She needed to get help. She needed Mira and Zoey. She needed to find Min-Jung. Is he okay?
She started hearing yelling. From her half lidded and dazed eyes she saw someone was coming towards her. Then more people surrounded her.
No one helped, they just watched. Staring at Rumi's blending and distressed body.
She felt hands on her body as she was in and out of consciousness.
Where are they?
Pain
She woke up yet again in pain.
There was a ringing in her ears that made everything a bit fuzzy.
She felt someone holding her hand.
Who is it?
Is it them?
Rumi tried to open her eyes only to close them again.
Her hearing is coming back slowly as she hears voices.
She holds the hand tighter
