Somewhere in southern California, in the [L/n] residence, a girl was in the bathroom and applied some cream on her face. She was wearing a sweater that covered her arms and a bit of her hands, and was also wearing blue jeans. Her face had a black bruise on her cheek, it stung as she touched it lightly. Afterward, she walked towards her window and spotted her so called father leaving the house with his girlfriend and some of their friends. Possibly to drink something, as always. The [h/c] haired girl was actually relieved that they were leaving. She preferred being alone in the house rather than having them there. Especially her father. Either he was drunk or not, he'd get violent whenever she did something that he didn't like. And that was most of the time.
The girl went to her bed, opened her laptop and prepared to watch the last episode of the 4th season. After the last episode, her mouth was wide open from the shock. Two hours and twenty minutes of Stranger Things. She couldn't wait for the 5th season. As she set her laptop back to her desk by the window, she spotted something falling from the sky. Curiously, she looked out and it crashed to the ground at the forest. A bright red light was coming from it.
She took a flashlight, her phone and went outside to investigate.
The woods were quiet, the crickets were chirping loudly, getting a bit on the girl's nerves but, despite all that, she continued her way.
"I'm so going to regret this." As she went deeper into the forest, she saw a blue light. She squinted her eyes and fastened her pace. "Woah!" There was a small bright blue stone hovering above a crater.
Curiously, she walked a bit closer to it and it changed colour into red and gold. Her head tilted to the side as she instinctively reached to it. Her fingers glew and a humming was heard coming from within the stone. Then, it exploded but she was standing still. Watching it as the wind was whistling.
Its colours were all around her and then for a brief she lost her vision.
She let out a gasp as she opened her eyes and could see again but she wasn't in the forest nor in her house. She on someone else's bed and right beside her was Nancy Wheeler.
"Yeah. No, I don't think... Yeah, he's cute. Barb, no, I don't think so. Barb, you're not--" Nancy said, talking to the telephone
"Hey, [Y/n], Nancy." Both girls looked at the door and saw Dustin, holding a box with pizza. The [h/c] haired girl was rather speechless but Nancy looked annoyed. "There's a slice left if you want it. Sausage and pepperoni!"
"Hold on." Nancy said, she walked up the door, he smiled at her but she closed the door without saying a word.
"Okay... what the hell just happened?" She muttered in confusion.
"Are you okay, [n/n]?" Nancy asked her, looking worried for her.
[Y/n] looked at her, shocked. "Me? Uh-hh. . . Yeah, totally." She stuttered out.
"You sure?" She then noticed the bruise on her cheek. "Oh my God! How did this— This wasn't there before!"
"Huh? Oh, this?" She pointed at the black mark on her cheek, Nancy nodded. "I... I tripped the stairs... At school."
"I don't think tripping can cause just a bruise." Nancy said, not convinced. "Did mr. Hopper do that? Did you wear make up to cover that?"
"Hopper? What does he have to do with this?"
"Well, he is your father so I can only assume that he..."
She shook her head quickly. "No! Hopper didn't do that."
"O-okay, but if something happens tell me. 'Kay?" [Y/n] looked at her and nodded. "Shall we call your dad? Tell him that you'll sleep here tonight."
"Sounds good."
"Great." Nancy responded, then she took the phone. "Hey, Barb, can we speak later?... Goodnight!" She then dialed another number and then gave the phone to [Y/n].
She put it on her ear and gulped anxiously. This looked so unreal.
"Hello?" Hopper's voice was heard from the other end, [Y/n]'s voice hitched. "Who's there?"
"Uhh. . . Hi. . . Dad. . ."
"Hello, sweetie. Is everything alright?"
"Uhhhh... Yes. I just... I-uh... I wanted to ask you something."
"Go on."
"Can I stay over at Nancy's house?" She questioned quickly. "Please?"
"Well, since you said 'please', I don't see why not. I'll pick you up tomorrow after school."
"Okay," She nodded. "Lovely."
"Are you okay, sweetie?"
"Yeah, sure, why asking?"
"You... are stuttering. Usually you do that when you are stressed or confused."
"I'm fine. See you tomorrow, goodnight."
"Goodnight."
Having said that, he hung up. [Y/n] was too stunned to speak and just stared in front of her. "I... I need some water. Can I go get some downstairs?"
"Sure." Nancy said, looking a bit confused that she asked.
The [h/c] haired stood up and made her way downstairs, she spotted The Party leaving for their homes. She went to say something.
"There's something wrong with your sister and her friend." Dustin said.
"What are you talking about?" Mike questioned.
"They've got a stick up their butts."
"Yeah." Lucas agreed. "It’s because your sister's been dating that douche bag Steve Harrington."
"Yeah, they've always been real jerks."
"They have been real jerks." Mike said, [Y/n] was quite shocked.
"Uh-uh. They used to be cool. Like that time Nancy dressed up as an elf for our Eldertree campaign and [Y/n] as a mage."
"Four years ago!"
"Just sayin'."
"Later." Lucas said.
"Wait!" [Y/n] automatically called out, they looked at her and some groaned. She looked rather discouraged. "I... I'm sorry about our behaviour. High school just tends to be very... nerve wracking."
They looked at each other with a 'wtf' expression. Then they looked at her.
"Okay, what have you done to the real [Y/n]?" Mike asked.
"I'm not joking. I'm truly sorry for everything I have done and I'm also sorry for Nance's behaviour." She said quite sincerely. "I promise I won't do, whatever I did, again." They all nodded, still rather suspicious of the 'sudden change' of behaviour. "Goodnight!"
Will turned to Mike. "It was a seven."
"What?" Mike questioned.
"The roll. It was a seven. The Demogorgon. It got me. see you tomorrow."
[Y/n] stopped him from leaving. "Hey, Will?" He looked at her. "Be careful out there. It's late, and it can be quite dangerous." She looked at Mike. "Can't you two have a sleepover?"
"I'll be fine, [Y/n." Will said with a sweet smile. "Thanks for worrying."
"Don't mention it." She said and swallowed hard. "Goodnight. Stay safe."
As Will rode away with the others, [Y/n] bit her lip. Wishing she could do more.

As the morning came, Nancy woke [Y/n] up. The [h/c] haired girl felt a mix of emotions when her eyes opened to see one of the Stranger Things' characters.
"Good morning, sleephead." Nancy laughed.
“Morning,” [Y/n] mumbled, forcing a casual tone while her heart hammered.
She dressed robotically, putting on some 80s clothes, and followed Nancy downstairs. The smell of coffee and bacon filled the kitchen.
“Good morning, [Y/n], sweetheart!” Karen Wheeler greeted with her sunny smile. “How was your sleep?”
“Uh… good,” [Y/n] answered, eyes darting across the familiar kitchen she’d only ever seen on a screen.
“Lovely! Come on, I made your favorite—[F/breakfast].”
[Y/n] nodded, sitting beside Nancy. The food smelled amazing, but her stomach twisted. She was hesitant as she took a bite from her breakfast.
"Are you okay, [n/n]?" Nancy asked. "You act like you've never eaten here before."
"Nancy," Ted said without looking up from his paper, "let her eat in peace."
"No—it's okay," [Y/n] stammered. “Just a headache when I woke up."
The phone rang. Karen answered, cheerful at first—then her tone changed. "Hello? …Joyce, hi… Will? No, just Mike. He left after eight… He's not home?" A pause. "Okay. Bye."
Then, after Joyce's reply, they hung up. [Y/n]’s fork froze midway to her mouth. It had started...
Later, at Hawkins High, Barb joined them by the lockers, chatting about Steve Harrington. [Y/n] hovered nearby, half listening, half spiraling as she no idea what to say regarding Nancy's relationship with Steve.
"So did he call?" Barb asked.
Nancy hushed her. "Keep your voice down."
"Did he?"
"I told you, it’s not like that."
Barb arched a brow and smirked. "Right. ‘We just made out a couple times.’"
Nancy rolled her eyes. "You better still hang out with us, Barb. If I ever become friends with Tommy H. or Carol—"
"Oh, that’s gross! Besides, it’s just a one-time—two-time thing." Nancy said as she opened her locker and found a note from Steve Harrington which read 'Meet me. Bathroom. - Steve'
Barb chuckled. "You were saying?" She glanced toward [Y/n]. "Hey, why so quiet today?"
Nancy shrugged. "She's been like that since last night."
"Earth to [Y/n], you copy?" Barb waved a hand in front of her face.
[Y/n] blinked. "Huh? Sorry—I zoned out."
"Why are you stuttering?"
"Just… anxious. Exams," She lied quickly. Spotting Jonathan Byers outside, she seized the excuse. "Excuse me—see you later! Have fun, Nancy!" She started walking toward the older Byers boy, Barb laughed at [Y/n]'s comment while Nancy blushed madly as she made her way to the bathroom.
"Hey, Jonathan Byers, right?" [Y/n] questioned, trying her best not to stutter or show any other sign of nervousness.
"You are [Y/n] Hopper?" Jonathan asked almost in shock.
The girl assumed that this version of her had never spoken to him or gave him any attention. She nodded.
"I suppose I am." She said, a bit absent minded, she shook her head. "Did your brother arrive yesterday?"
"Uh- Why do you care?"
"I was at the Wheelers' and I was wondering if he came home safe since it was pretty late when he left."
"It was only eight."
"For a school night." She corrected herself with a nod.
"Uhm, I haven't seen him. He probably went to school early."
She nodded in understanding, though she was still very anxious. "I hope he's okay."... and then, wanting to make the conversation a little lighter, her eyes fell on the pictures in his bag. She pointed at them with her best grin. "Did you take these?" He looked at the direction she was pointing. "Can I see them?"
"Uh, sure." He said as he took out the photos and showed them to her.
She whistled, impressed. "Cool! You should become a photographer. It suits you. I bet you'll get paid a lot."
"Thanks."
"Hey, can you take a picture of me while I do a silly pose?" He nodded and the girl did a funny face, he took his camera and took a picture of her. "Thank you!"
"You're welcome." He then frowned in confusion. "How come you talk to me all of the sudden?"
"Social anxiety."
"You? One of the best cheerleaders in Hawkins?"
She gulped. "I am a really good actress at not showing how I feel."
"Have you... talked to someone about this? I don't think hiding it is good." She shook her head in 'no.' "Well then, let me know if you need any help and tell mr. Hopper about it too."
"I'll keep that in mind." She gave him a small smile as she walked toward her class. "It was good talking to you, Jonathan. See ya around. Oh, and give my regards to Will when you see him."
Chapter 4: 11
Chapter Text
•❅──────✧❅✦❅✧──────❅•
After school, she went to Hopper's house which apparently was her own home too. She spotted a small note on the fridge from Hopper which said that he would be out until late in order to find Will. [Y/n] bit her nails anxiously, silently debating whether or not should she tell them that she knew where Will was. There were a few problems though.
Would they believe her if she told that Will was trapped in an alternate dimension called the Upside Down? Would they even like her, let alone trust her, afterward? No. She had to find someone who would believe her. Someone who also knew about it. Someone like. . .
"Jane." [Y/n] said to herself, her voice no louder than a whisper. She nodded. "I need to find El." She looked at the nearest clock. "Okay, I need to go to Benny's Burgers. Uhm. . ." She held her head in her hands as she closed her eyes, trying to think. "Ugh. . . Come on. . . Where in Hawkins is it? Oh! I think something about Randolph Lane." She took a pen and a blank piece of paper and wrote it down as she repeatedly muttered it. "Randolph Lane. Randolph Lane. Randolph Lane." She set the pen down, took the paper and exited the house. "Randolph Lane. Randolph Lane. Randolph Lane. Randolph Lane." She started speedwalking on the street as she continued to mumble the location and looked around.
As she tried to find the restaurant, she realized that she didn't know what to say to her either. Yes, she'd understand better than the others but would she convince her without having her think that she was with Dr. Brenner. She sighed as she shook that thought away. She'd come up with something. She managed living with her father, she could do this. It couldn't be that hard, could it?
[Y/n] asked people around about the diner. They recognized her since she was Hopper's child in this world. Some gave her strange looks. Others were kind enough to give her directions.
It was nighttime when she finally found it. She recognized the logo. A sigh of relief escaped her lips and knocked on the door in a hurry. A man in his forties with brown eyes and a few brown hair opened the door. It was Benny. She didn't speak, she didn't know what to say.
"Can I help you, miss Hopper?" He questioned her.
She shook her head, snapping out of her train of thoughts and nodded as she said. "Uhm. . . I'm looking for someone."
"Will? He is not here, everyone is looking at the fores-"
"I don't mean Will." She said quickly, she stared over his shoulder. "I mean her."
Benny followed her gaze back to Eleven. She had extremely short hair, wearing an over-sized yellow t-shirt and eating ice-cream. "You know the kid?"
She nodded reluctantly. "Y- Yeah. . . In a way."
The male looked back at her and stepped aside to let her in. "Alright." [Y/n] slowly walked inside. "Don't worry. I don't bite."
The teen gave him a tight-lipped smile and said. "Uhm. . . Mr. Hammond? You need to leave."
"What do you mean, kiddo?"
She gulped. "Leave. Go somewhere else. Out of here."
"Why?"
There was a beat before she responded. "They're coming."
"Who is coming?"
"Just. . .- Just trust me." She stuttered, she was clearly distressed. "You have to leave or. . . or they'll kill you. Please. You can come back when everyone leaves. It will all make sense."
Looking a bit skeptical, and weirded out, he did as the girl told him to. Benny didn't go far, though, but [Y/n] was relieved that he was away from there. She then turned to Eleven who stared at her with a suspicious look. [Y/n] gulped yet again, growing anxious, as she approached her.
"H- Hey. . ." She uttered lowly. "Y- You're Eleven, right?" No response. Right. . . She had forgotten that she wasn't much of a talker in the first season. "I- I'm [Y/n]. I pr- promise that I am not one of Dr. Brenner's m- minions."
"Bad man." said Eleven.
The h/c haired girl nodded. "Y- Yeah. Exactly." She paused for a moment and let out a breath "L- listen, I know this might sound crazy but. . . I have to tell you. It will explain h- how I knew about you." Eleven simply stared at her. "You see, I am a. . . a seer."
"Seer?"
"Yes." She nodded. "It's a person who has visions of the future. And I need you to hel-" There was a knock on the door, she stopped and froze in shock. She turned to face the door and saw Connie Frazier. Then she turned back to Eleven and offered her hand. "We have to leave. Now. They are here." The knocking continued, Eleven also panicked. "Come."
She dropped the ice cream, took her hand, they both turned around and sprinted back thorough the kitchen. They blew through the double doors as the agents swept into the kitchen. They were followed closely by Dr. Brenner. The girls sprinted for the back screen door but they crashed to a halt as two more agents swept through from the back door. They were trapped.
Eleven stood in front of [Y/n]. The [h/c] haired female covered her ears as loud static was heard and her eyes widened in horror as she watched the agents screamed. They fell unconscious. Bones twisted and heads bleeding.
After a short moment of silence, [Y/n] awkwardly removed her hands from her ears and then took Eleven's hand and ran out of the door. Trying to ignore the fact that she literally witnessed murder.
The two ran through the woods, the older girl's heart beating faster from the adrenaline, and panted heavily without looking back. Soon, it started raining and [Y/n] gave Eleven her jacket. On their steps, the rustling of the foliage was heard. [Y/n] spotted the Party and rushed, still holding El's hand, toward them. The Party whirled around. Startled. Their flashlights illuminated the girls. Mike looked only at Eleven. She looked at Mike. Their gaze held.
Dustin and Lucas looked at [Y/n]. Shocked to find her there as well.
"[Y/n]?!" They voiced simultaneously, Dustin then added as he pointed the flashlight on her face. "What are you doing here?"
She bit the inside of her cheek. "I. . . I. . ." She paused, feeling as if the air was suffocating. "W. . . Let's get somewhere less. . . wet."
At the Wheeler residence, they all went to the basement. [Y/n] and Eleven sat beside each other on the couch. Outside the rain was falling and the thunder was rumbling. Eleven was breathing heavily and [Y/n] gently rubbed her head in comfort.
"Is there a number we can call for your parents?" Mike asked the unknown to them girl.
Dustin piped in. "Where’s your hair? Do you have cancer?"
"Did you run away?" asked Lucas.
"Are you in some kind of trouble?" Mike questioned.
"Is that blood?" said Lucas as he pointed at a small spot on the shirt.
Mike slapped his hand away. "Stop it! You’re freaking her out!"
"She’s freaking me out!"
"I bet she’s deaf." said Dustin, [Y/n] shook her head as he clapped his hands loudly in front of Eleven's face. She flinched. "Okay- not deaf."
"All right, that’s enough, all right? She’s just scared and cold." said Mike, he went to a small basket with clean clothing and when he came back he gave Eleven some dry clothes. "Here, these are clean. Okay?"
Eleven wiped her face a little with the shirt, she placed them between her and [Y/n], then removed the jacket and when she stood up she was about to strip the shirt off.
"No, no, no!" The boys exclaimed as they looked away, Mike stopped Eleven from proceeding.
"Oh, my God. Oh, my God." muttered Dustin.
"See over there?" Mike stammered as he pointed at a small room. "That’s the bathroom. Privacy. Get it?"
Eleven didn't respond, [Y/n] took the clothes and led her to the bathroom. The short haired girl looked around the new environment in curiosity but as [Y/n] was about to close the door, she grabbed it.
"You don’t want it closed?" asked [Y/n], even though she knew already.
"No." Eleven replied with a hesitant shake of her head.
"How about we just keep the door..." [Y/n] let the door open a little bit. "Just like this? Better?"
Eleven nodded at the girl. "Yes."
As [Y/n] turned her head, she spotted Mike from the corner of her eye. He had been eavesdropping. [Y/n] couldn't blame him. She was found out in the woods with a strange girl. [Y/n] sighed and was about to leave but Eleven tugged onto her shirt. She faced her with a puzzled look.
"Is. . . Is everything alright?"
"Stay."
She looked into the girl's eyes. She was clearly scared. [Y/n] nodded and sat down beside the door, waiting for her to get done before going to the others so she could discuss a few things.
