Summary
“Promise me then,” Aesop sat up slightly straighter, but his chest still pressed to the side of Eli’s arm. “Promise me you won’t take your words back.”
“On my knight’s-”
“No, no,” The dragon immediately shushed him, patting his chest a few times before holding the same hand out, the rest of his fingers curled except for an extended pinkie.
“Promise me.”
Again, the knight stared blankly, eyes narrowing at the finger as if it would suddenly be gone the longer he looked. Childish - it felt so childish to promise like this instead of promising his head on a guillotine if he broke it. All Aesop would get in return is at most his fingers cut off if he broke it this way…
Still, a smile danced across his lips before locking his pinkie with Aesop’s, giving it a gentle squeeze. A pact being nothing but a placeholder, a small physical show for the depth of the knight’s loyalty, as if either of them needed this for proof.
“I promise.”
