Summary
Damian clutched crumpled papers in his tan hands, his sharp gaze fixed on the yellow folder. His knuckles were white from the force he exerted, driven by the very fabric of the papers, of his futures, still sealed within the folder, guarding the secret like a dragon protecting the tower of an enchanted princess. It was a thought, an idea that had blossomed unbidden in his mind, little by little, over the two weeks since the bouts of nausea and vomiting began—his warning that something bigger was coming, whether a storm or just a simple morning like any other.
