Between the Skies Above and the Depths Below

Chapter 3: Lost Within the Blizzard

Notes:

Day Twenty-Three: Hug from Behind

Chapter Text

Pulling out his paraglider with his speed and height is much more difficult than he thought. Crimson and Rouro are still high above him, following as fast as they could but they couldn’t keep up with his lead. Link force himself to flip over – ignoring the stinging of the cold winds – and focus onto his inventory inside of the Purah Pad; each item coming to mind until he finds the paraglider.

A simple wooden frame made out of the strongest wood with the Cucco Fabric.

However, nothing comes to his hands. His eyes snap open, passing the clouds and the whole of Hyrule comes into view. It’s would be quite the sight if it wasn’t going to be the last thing he sees. Link tries again until suddenly being grabbed from behind and tossed higher into the air, causing the paraglider to finally snaps into his hands; stopping him in his tracks.

When he lands, Crimson didn’t take the time to land properly before Link finds himself wrap up in the Loftwing’s wings with Rouro being pull into the impromptu group hug; earning a grumble from the Watarara. Crimson apologizes when he lets the two of them go but also gives a stern warning to never do something that stupid again, which Link states that he can’t promise but will try.

Rouro whistles getting their attention; “got to say, Link, this place is quite something.”

They had landed Batrea Lake with Riverside Stable on the other side of the river. Which means that Castle Town isn’t far from here. Link points this out to Crimson and Rouro, who allow Link to take the lead and take them to town. It takes them a couple hours after Link gets Epona from the stable where they find Purah and Robbie at a place called Lookout Landing, which had taken over what was the Sacred Grounds which were destroyed by the Calamity.

Apparently, the two are busy with researching a new kind of malice which they are calling Gloom. It’s similar to Malice but even more deadly since it sucks the life right out of anything that touches it unlike Malice which only takes your spiritual energy. All Link needs to know is to find the Champions and Zelda, specially since her powers can handle the Gloom.

“What are they doing?” Rouro questions when Link rejoins the pair.

Below, a few Sheikah are messing around with Zonai technology and attempting to make new things. Some had created carts that don’t require a horse or donkey. Another managed to make moving platforms that takes them from the bottom of the wall to the very top. It’s quite the sight but Link much rather stick with Epona, even though it has been fun using the new abilities that Purah and Robbie had made for the Pad.

“It seems some of your tech came down here.” Link gets a look from Rouro; clearly stating the obvious. “They just want to see what they can make; it’s pretty something especially compared to the Divine Beasts.” Actually, Link haven’t seen any of the Divine Beasts yet, specially Rudania who’s always visible from her place on top of Death Mountain. “Anyways, we want to head to Hebra if we want to get up to the Ark.”

He pulls up the map on his Pad than pointing out where Hebra should be, which is nothing more than static now. Which means that the sensors have been destroyed during the never-ending storm at some point. From Robbie had said, it’s been six months since Link and Zelda had disappeared which mean anything could have happened in that time frame. He also mentioned that there were troops sent that way, just like others were sent to their other neighbours, but it’s basically impossible in between the dead cold, the wind, and the white-out conditions.

“We’ll take the main up since the Tabantha Great Bridge has been destroyed.”

Travelling west, the snow starts piling up while the wind howls like Cold-Footed Wolves. Link couldn’t stop shivering even though he’s wearing all his warmest clothes; he’s a bit jealous that Crimson and Rouro doesn’t seem that effected by the cold. Though, Crimson did tell him that the skies aren’t as cold as this but not the worst either of them had been through.

It also doesn’t help that Link got lost twice which Epona, luckily, managed to bring them back to the road before they drift too far away. Link slows Epona down when the stable comes into straight, noticing that the natural magic surrounding the place had started wearing down due to the snowstorm. While around them, it rages on but inside there are snowflakes falling which was never meant to happen.

Link hands Epona over to the stablehand before following Rouro and Crimson inside where there are others taking shelter. Hylians, Sheikah, a Goron, and two frostbitten Ritos are hanging around the building…which leaves the question about Tabantha Village looks like right now. They look like warriors, who were probably might to take a message to the king or meet with the Hyrulian troops; instead, they are snowed in here at this stable and won’t make it out of the storm without it being a death sentence.

Sitting in his usual spot is Beedle with his wares laying out in front of him.

“Give me a second,” Link said to Crimson which Rouro had already busy himself with talking to the Rito Warriors. “I’m going to grab some supplies.”

“Alright, just tell us when you are ready to leave.”

Link makes his way over to Beedle; making small talk while going through his wares. He managed to get himself another Warm Doublet, which should help with the cold until he reaches the village, and gotten some information about what’s going on but it’s basically the same information that everyone else knows. A blizzard had come in one day and haven’t let up in the last six months. It was sudden with no warning, forcing many to remain within their homes or else run the risk of death.

“It seems a lot worst down here,” Crimson said. “For us, the storm is bad but manageable. I can’t imagine what the Ritos have been dealing with down here.”

“Don’t count them out yet, Crimson, they are a lot tougher than they look.” Link had witness it first hand whenever he and Revali spent time together; watching the Rito work harder than anyone else to prove why he should be a Champion and a Pilot of a Divine Beast. “Specially, Revali. I think you and him will get on quite well, Rouro.”

“I feel like you are mocking me, Link.” Rouro haven’t been focusing on the conversation until that point. “Though, I would like to meet this Revali you talked about so much.” He puts a wing up in an attempt to block the snow but give up. “The sun was starting to set when we entered the storm, do you want to stop for the night?”

Link wants to say yes – can feel the way his limbs get heavy at the thought – but force himself to say no. They still need to check on Tabantha Village on their way through to Rito Village. Crimson and Rouro don’t look convince, specially not when Rouro states that they are going on ahead. Link waves them off before getting Epona before continuing on.

The closer he gets to the village, the stronger the winds become. Luckily, Crimson had added a hood to the Doublet before taking off after his charge. It blocks out most of the cold, along with the new blanket that was gifted from the Goron. However, the cold still clings to his bones making him slowly lose feeling in his limbs. Link gently tugs on the reins when he finally comes to the village. There are no lights to be seen…it’s like the village became a ruin in the time since he was gone.

He didn’t think twice about hopping off Epona and makes his way through the built-up snow which appears to only build up higher the farther into the village he goes, until it comes up to his hips. His heart suddenly leaps to his throat when he struggles to pull his leg up to take another step…that’s until he slips his hand beneath the snow and pulls out to see black goo clinging to his fingers when he pulls away.

It’s nothing like the Malice that clings like vines and pulls you deeper into itself to feed off the spiritual energy that lives within everyone. This is more like its trying to rip the very light out of your soul and feed on the darkness that’s left behind. Clawing at the built-up walls to make room for itself within you. Suddenly, hands grabbed at his arms, face, anything that they could get a hold of. There’s nothing around him for Link to grab a hold of, only snow.

Suddenly, something grabs him by the arm and tugs him out of the hands’ hold. Darkness grabs tightly at the edge of his vision, calling him to close his eyes and rest for a while. It’s not cold anymore and the wind sounds soft instead of the howling that he had grown used to. It wouldn’t hurt to take a moment to…rest…his…e…y…e…s.

Softly, a fire crackles near by that cause Link to force his eyes open again. Siting across from is Revali, who’s sharping an arrow head while staring intensely at it. His lungs hurt when he attempts to take a break in; causing a wince to slip out and alerting Revali. There’re hand imprints on his arm that he could see but he’s sure there are more. Luckily, they appear to be fading. Something bitter suddenly clings to his throat, causing him to cough harshly.

“You’re welcome,” Revali said with a scoff. “You would’ve had died from Gloom Poisoning if I didn’t come along.”

“Gloom Poisoning?” Link question around his coughing fit.

“Yes, I figured the Princess would have told you…” Revali strangely soften for a second at the confuse expression on Link’s face before suddenly snapping into his scowl. “Unless, something had happened during the upheaval. The storm made it impossible to get any new information, much less any supplies.”

Link takes a moment to sit up – shuffling around the blankets since the cold seems worst after getting poisoned – before carefully explaining everything that he can remember from when he had met up with Zelda to ending up jumping off the island. Things that Link doesn’t quite understand and about the new things that he had seen. Revali strangely sat in silence but not once looks up from his sharping.

Finally, Revali looks up at him however the champion doesn’t seem convince about anything that Link had said. None of that matters when, suddenly, a screeching wail cuts through the howling appears causing Link to freeze.

“We need to move; the hands are gone for now but they’ll be back.” Revali ruffle through his bag before pulling out a map – old, worn but useful – that he hands to Link while pointing out a spot between the mountain range around the village. “Take this passage, it’ll take you to the village.” Revali takes his stand and move towards the mouth of the cave, only stopping long enough to wish Link luck before disappearing into the storm.

He wonders how the rest of Hyrule is fairing…and what Crimson and Rouro are doing right now.

Following the map, the passage doesn’t lead straight to Rito Village – which isn’t visible but Link knows that at least one bridge has been destroyed alongside the stable – however it did take him down into the chasm where water once was which had gone now. The farther he goes down, the more he can catch glimpses of the village from between spike pillars and when the wind shifts above him.

Until he freezes at the sight of nothing, not even the islands lead up to the village had survive. The only thing that remains is the single pillar where Vah Medoh once stand firm; watching over Hebra like a silent guardian. There are no bridges connecting the islands, no pathways or even buildings.

Even Revali’s Land is gone.

It’s like the Ritos never existed in the first place.

Link force himself to continue deeper into the spikey wasteland below the village until it suddenly opens up into a new town where Ritos and Hylians are bustling around with a new found purpose. Many appear dress for a war against the elements but there’s still a few struggling to stay warm even so far below the storm. None of the harsh winds are able to reach down here and even the snow had soften when it falls; giving a sense of peace that the rest of Harba don’t have.

He notices a sign for those from Tabantha on one of the makeshift buildings, meaning that the village had fled to Rito Village for safety. At least that’s one less thing for Link to be worry about. Also lucky for him, he spots Epona at the stable that was made down here as well so he doesn’t have to go searching for her later in this storm.

Many didn’t give him a second glance and Link ignores them in favour of finding the Chief, since he might have some information that Revali didn’t share. There are only two light sources down here; torches and a plant of some kind. If Zelda was here, she would jump at the chance to study these two plants. He really hopes nothing bad happened to her.

He found a General Store which is good a place as any to get information from. It’s not overly busy with only a Rito Warrior and a knight from Tabantha Village are going over weapons or another knight waiting by the forge to be opened by a Goron that Link didn’t see before now.

Link couldn’t help grabbing an apple from one of the barrels and leaving a rupee on the counter – having failed to check his Pad before leaving the stable. However, a Rito – behind the counter talking to Goron – had notice and toss Link another apple, which he did catch. That’s when he notices the last person inside the shop; a Zonai but they don’t look like the Zonai Link had seen on the Great Sky Island.

The Not-Zonai is wearing the Depth Armor Set without the hood – something that Robbie had shown him while going over a statue that was found a while back – and has strange green markers just visible at their neck, soft orange eyes, and long orange hair. The Not-Zonai’s ear twitch in his direction but continues with the book in their hand.

Link turn back to the Rito shop keeper to get a few more things when the Not-Zonai shuts the book with a heavy sigh and toss it onto the counter next to him; that’s when he spots Link standing there…more important, the Not-Zonai’s eyes lock onto the unfamiliar arm. They didn’t think twice about grabbing it, having a tight frown the longer they look at it.

“This doesn’t belong to you.” Dark eyes peers down at Link but he had faced worst: royalty, a Calamity, and nobility alike. “Who are you?”

“Link, Knight of Hyrule.”

The Not-Zonai glares down at him before a bellying laugh escapes them; dropping the arm and stepping away. Once settle, they look towards Link with a kindness instead of the harshness form before. “Huh, I knew the name popular back home but I didn’t know it was also popular on the surface.” The way this Not-Zonai is it remains look a bit of Daruk in a way.

“And where are you from?” Link question; loosening up a bit to see if he can get anymore information.

However, the bell rings again alerting those within the store. Revali holds the door open for another Not-Zonai but a child this time – similar long orange hair but instead of orange eyes, there’s the shinning blues that Link seen from The Great Sky Island – and a Zora with soft glowing marks that are moving in a pattern that’s similar to the signals that Link had to learn.

"Ralis, Revali; have you discovered anything useful?” The Not-Zonai asks, easily scooping up the child into their arms, who purrs at being close to their parent.

“Only more Gloom Hands.” Ralis sighs; pulling at the scarf around his neck and barely hiding the fact that they are overheating inside the cool building. “It seems that they had grown in numbers thanks to the cold, even though it should be starving them.”

Link looks towards Revali wanting an explanation, which Revali rolls his eyes before motioning to the Not-Zonai.

“This is Raven of the Depth Division; his crew had shown up here a few months ago and have been helping us since.” Revali cross his arms however his grumpy demeanor suddenly drops when Raven drops the child into Revali’s arms, causing the purring to get louder than before. Everyone eavesdropping around them quickly look away when Revali glares at them. “And this is Link, Raven’s son, however you can all him Sparrow if you want.”

Sparrow flips back, waving happily at ling while giggling, before Revali pulls the kid back upright. Since meeting Tulin, it’s not surprising how good Revali is with children.

“Well, it’s nice to meet you.” Link turns back towards Raven while showing off his replacement arm. “And for the arm, Rauru gave it to me after my own was damaged during the upheaval.” There’s a moment of surprise on Revali’s face that quickly disappears.

“Should have known,” Raven said with a sigh and removing his hood. “From what I had studied, King Rauru has always tired to his best to help his people; giving you his arm seems something that fool would do.”

“And here I thought that Twili only has respect for their king,” Ralis tease.

“He’s not my king, Ralis.” Raven pulls out something that resemble the Sheikah Slate before handing it over to Mikau, who frown at whatever was on it. “Find the others and take them to the inn, we’re going to start following leads again.” That caused Mikau to complain and a scoff from Revali.

“Like what? The Ark?” Revali questions. “It’s an old song with nothing backing it up.”

“The Ark?” Link’s question suddenly gets everyone’s attention; excited about the conversation changing to something he actually knows about.

“It’s an old story passed down through the Ritos even before they came to Hyrule.” Revali hands Sparrow back to Raven before grabbing Link by the arm and pulling him out of the store. “The song states that the Ark was what brought the Ritos to Hyrule before suddenly disappearing, laying claim to what is now known as Rito Village. I believed that the ship was either repurposed or is at the bottom of the ocean.”

“But it was real at one point?”

Link knows that it’s real due to Rouro and Crimson, despite not seeing it himself.

Revali’s face twist while pulling away from Link. Since the Calamity, they were on the road to become friends, specially since they hang out more than anyone else whenever Link wasn’t following Zelda around. So, Link likes to think that he had figure Revali out but moments like this proves that Link has only stretch the surface on who Revali really is.

“Maybe, who knows.” Revali leads them to a separate area that’s set up similar to a camp/training area. Above them, the storm continues to rage but Link notices that the clouds are shape oddly; more of a spiral that’s center around something far out of sight. “It doesn’t matter anyways;” Revali notice quickly that Link isn’t paying attention. “What are you looking at?”

“Have you notice how odd the clouds are?” Link trace the clouds with his fingers. “There’s something up there, maybe it’s what’s causing this storm.”

“The only one that can get that high is Medoh however she’s in the Depths due to the upheaval.”

“Maybe there’s a way to climb up there…” Link trails off; trying hard to see through the storm to see any kind of outline of something. He doesn’t remember seeing how odd the clouds were on the way in but didn’t think twice about it since within the storm. “Maybe I can borrow your power again?”

He turns to Revali but there’s a sinking feeling that he already knows the answer.

It’s possible for them to work together again – Link had learned how to borrow abilities with Revali’s help a couple of years ago – but anything could happen like dying a horrible death or not even being able to climb up anything in the first place. Maybe if they find Medoh, it could give them a fighting chance.

“Fine, let’s get this over with.” Revali heads deeper into the camp…before noticing that Link isn’t following, who confused about the action. “You won’t get much further with that coat. We’ll get you equip with some proper armor.”

It didn’t take long to get a new set of armor and Link couldn’t help burying into the warmth of the scarf around his neck. The cold is still wicked since the Ritos are still struggling to combat the new found temperature but Link doesn’t care since this is the warmest he’s been since arriving in Habra.

“I wouldn’t be surprise if your companion already gotten the bug,” Raven said.

Raven and Ralis are waiting at the entrance of the camp; having left Sparrow with a trusted babysitter. The Zora had been given a similar armor set to Link but more fit for a Zora, even though Ralis doesn’t seem that effected by the cold around them. Though, Link doubts that’s actually the case but you can never be too sure with people you only just met.

“The bug?” Link asks.

“The flu.” Ralis offers an apple to Link, who takes it. “We call it the bug because of Sparrow, who’s still struggling with some of his words.”

Link wants to know more about Sparrow but there’s no time for that right now. He went over the plan which mostly involves just him and Revali but Ralis and Raven turns out to be a lot more stubborn than Link first thought. It’s easy enough to change it to add them in since it was a very loose plan in the first place.

Climbing back out of the Spikey Wasteland, Link stops at the top to see a familiar pair of Watarara and Loftwing standing there. He doesn’t think twice about running over and tackles Crimson from behind; causing Rouro to laugh and Crimson to jump at the sudden appearance of Link. The Loftwing wraps a wing around Link’s shoulders before noticing the rest of the group.

“And who are your new friends, Link?” Crimson asks.

“Oh, right.” Link pulls away. “This is Revali, the Champion and Pilot of Vah Medoh. I told you guys about him, remember?” When Rouro confirms that, Link continues. “And this is Ralis and Raven, they are from the Depth.” He had to explain what the Depth is but even he’s not quite sure about it either. “Anyways, we’re actually heading down there to find Medoh; we think she can get us to the Ark.”

Revali coughs; giving the same Link had given him earlier.

“Guys, this is Crimson and Rouro; they are from the Ark.”

“So, it’s real?” Revali said.

“Very real,” Rouro said. “Lived there my whole life with my mother and our tribe.”

There's a tense moment that pass between them before its broken by Ralis.

“Great, there’s two of them,” Ralis said quietly to Raven, who only nods in agreement.

Link thought Rouro and Revali are going to fight but the two were quick to talk about things; mostly about archery and whatnot. Crimson had been relived that had worked out while Ralis couldn’t believe that there’s not going to be a fight, earning a look from Raven which Ralis completely ignored in favour of complaining.

This is going to be a long trip.

“This is awesome!” Ralis shouts while Raven grabs him by the shoulders, keeping the Zora from flying off the edge of the Divine Beast. “Revali, Medoh, you guys are amazing!”

Medoh had burst through the ground from where she had fallen into the Depth; trapped in her own battle against a version of Colgera. Revali had managed to call Medoh down long enough for them to get on and level the battle field; Crimson and Rouro were impressed by Revali’s Gale, having sent Link falling into the air so he can take care any weak points.

Both Loftwing and Watarara had continued to keep Link in the air while Revali focus on keeping Medoh from hitting anything and dodging out of Colgera’s attacks. Though, that didn’t help with the ice forming around Medoh’s engines which Ralis had taken care of; using his own abilities from being a Hot Spring Zora to melt the ice and destroy any attacks that Crimson failed to stop from coming through with Raven’s help. The moment Colgera went down; Medoh went bursting through the ground and shoots straight through the storm. When Medoh levels out, the lights flickers and the engines shuttered. Revali shakes his head at the same time and pulls away from the controls; already hiding his shivers and now on coming headache.

“This is as far as Medoh can go until she finishes restarting herself,” Revali said. “If Colgera anything like his Gloom counterpart...”

“Then we’ll throw anything we got,” Link state before pointing out the Ark. “Ralis, Raven, and I will use the smaller ships to get up over the storm where we’ll meet you guys. Once we get Colgera out in the open than we’ll do what damage we can until Medoh can deal the final blow.”

Without the Master Sword, the Divine Beasts are their only hope with defeating these Scourges until he can find Zelda that is.

“You sure, I can probably take–”

“Or we can use an easier form of travel,” Raven said while taking moving to stand in front of them; his third eye has been opened at some point. “With the Ark in view, I can probably get us over to the top ship instead of us climbing from the bottom. Using a power that has passed down for generations in my family and one day will be my son’s gift.”

“You saying you got something that can teleport this whole time, Raven?” Ralis asks; clearly unhappy this.

“Well, no.” Raven struggles for a second to think of words. “It’s more like a one-time use thing, I’ll be out for part of the fight because of this ability until I get my strength back.” Raven didn’t give them a moment to argue when he uses his ability to create a pattern behind him that turns into a mirror that reflects them back until opening to be on the final ship at the time. “I can’t hold it forever.”

Ralis rush through with Link, Revali and Rouro right after. Crimson and Raven come through last since the Loftwing had to hold the Twili up, helping him down unto the floor of the ship. Being high above Link had pull an extra paraglider to give to Ralis before double checking that he has his own; only stopping when Crimson places a wing on his shoulder.

“You have your paraglider ready right?”

“Yes, Crimson.”

The Loftwing doesn’t look convince, neither does Rouro, while Revali and Ralis looks confuse at the interaction. Link ignores them all in favour of pulling out the paraglider just to please the Loftwing, who does back off to double check that Rouro has everything for this fight ahead.

“Do you mind if I borrow some your ability for this fight?” Link ask; putting a hand out to Revali, who rolls his eyes but does take it.

“Don’t say I don’t do anything for you.”

Light shoots from Revali’s heart down his arm and towards Link where it goes to his own heart before it dies down. Link gives his thanks before giving a quick crash course to Ralis than jumping off the ship without saying anything to anyone else; causing Crimson to shout at him and flying fast towards him like Link doesn’t know what he is doing.

Of course, things can't be as straight forward as Link once they landed on the ship. Rouro explains they had to activate the five wind turbines so they can return back to their original positions, since they appeared to be what causing the blizzard from the way they are now. Revali, Crimson, and Rouro had went off to the deal with the turbines that are up high or on the side of the ship, which left Ralis and Link dealing with the lock gate.

“So, you got a Zonai’s arm, right?” Ralis starts. “Can’t you do something like Raven?”

Link looks at Rauru’s arm before looking around for something to pick up; a test mostly to see if he can use Magnesis, similar to how the Sheikah Slate had worked before being replaced with the Purah Pad. There’s a flicker of light before it fades out – earning a disappointed sigh from Ralis – however Link can feel something call for him to pick up the icicle which he does.

“Woah! That’s awesome, not as awesome as Revali and Medoh but still pretty cool.”

Ralis quickly moves out of the way when Link swings the icicle around to the broken controls next to the gate and attaching the icicle to it…somehow. Still using the power, Link moves the icicle to open the gate where Ralis runs in and starts up the turbine before running back out; high fiving Link once he stops using the power.

“Not bad, Link!”

“You did good to, Ralis.”

The two laugh causing confusion among the trio when they return back from their own trips. None of them had a moment when the ground shakes and Colgera comes shooting out from the center of the ship causing the winds to become stronger, sending everyone into the air. One last fight to finally end this blizzard.

Seeing Herba without the blizzard is a bit startling, specially for those that had never seen Hebra until now. Ritos, the Depth Division of Herba, and Tabantha Village are able to come out from their base where the group had found everyone working around the old stables; trying to start back up some kind of new normal. Raven had rush away from them to bundle up his son into his arms while a Rito had come bursting through the crowd.

“Ralis!” The Rito throws her wings around Ralis, keeping him close to her before pulling him away. “What were you thinking? Why do you keeping getting yourself in so much trouble!?”

“I’m sorry, Ma.” Ralis keeps his head held high. “But I had to help Raven and our new friends.”

She looks behind her son to Link; “and you must be the new friend then.”

“Link, Knight of Hyrule.”

“I’m Chief Rutela of the Herba Mining Colonies and Founder of the Depth Division of Herba.” She holds a wing out towards Link, who does shakes it. “Do you perchance know a Princess by the name of Zelda?” When Link’s expression change, she chuckles and continues before he could say anything. “She’s fine, her highness is with Princess Lulu, Chief Nabooru, and Chief Darmani. I can’t take you to her since our effects are needed here but I’m sure Raven can take you.”

“And I’ll go too,” Ralis said; turning towards Link.

“No, you’re not.”

Ralis pulls away from his mother but still keeps a hold of her wings; “I know those tunnels better anyone else, even Raven.”

She stares at him for a long time before sighing and agreeing for Ralis to go, specially since Raven wants to remain here with his son and help with rebuilding for their new friends. Revali had also chosen to remain here due to his duties but plans on sending someone to give a message to the castle about what happened. Which leaves Rouro and Crimson on what they planning on doing since the Ark have been freed.

“I’m guess this is where we part ways,” Link ask once the trio had moved away from the crowd.

“Afraid so,” Rouro said. “But I’m expecting you to come have dinner with us, specially since my mother would be expecting our heroes to be properly celebrated.”

“I can’t wait.” Link looks towards Crimson. “You better take care of him.”

“Don’t worry about us, just focus on your task at hand.” Crimson reaches out before patting his shoulder, though clearly not what he wants to do. “If you need our help, give us a call and we’ll come to your rescue.”

“I’ll keep that in mind.”

Link steps away and starts his way towards Ralis, who is waiting by the path that leads down into the Spikey Wasteland but something makes him stop. For some reason, he can’t help turning back around and running back towards the Loftwing until his arms are wrap around him; burying his face into the soft feathers and relaxing when his wings wrap around him. It feels like home though Link doesn’t understand why.

He pulls away, waving towards the duo, while making his way to Ralis again; it's time to finally see what the Depth are about.
