September 25, 2024 Chicago Pier.
Jay and Will were back in Chicago for a few days as they both had been invited to attend Kim and Adam's wedding.
When Will left 2 years ago he didn't think he would be back in Chicago at all as his life is different now and he can honestly say he is happier.
Jay knew that coming back after three years was going to be tough but he knew that Hailey had left and she was trying to be a better version of herself.
Both brothers had decided to come a few days early so they could get used to being back.
“So how are you and Connor doing?.” Jay asks.
Will looks at his brother and he laughs as Jay still can't switch off from being a cop.
“Are you asking me as a brother or a detective?.” Will asks.
“You're funny, not.” Jay says.
“I'm offended, but me and Connor are doing great actually and we are looking at places to live.” Will says.
“I'm glad you two are happy. At least one of us deserves to be happy.” Jay says.
Will looks at brother and he knows that divorcing Hailey was hard for Jay but Will thought that they never belonged together and that she was very manipulative but Will is going to keep that opinion to himself.
“Don't worry Jay you will find someone and then you can be truly happy. Now let's enjoy the few days we are here.” Will says.
Jay hugs his brother and he decides to just let himself enjoy spending time with Will.
The two brothers are having a good time and it feels like when they were kids and that makes the memories they are making more better.
Will and Jay are having a good time and they have enjoyed spending time together as it's been nice to have time together since they are not in the same country any more.
Jay looks at his brother who is currently eating a slice of pizza and he knows that Will is still angry about how he left but he will talk to him.
Jay hadn't known Will had left Chicago until he got a letter from him that his boss had been given.
Will had told Jay that he moved away as he had reached the point that he needed a fresh start and he said that he found that in Seattle and he was doing well and he had bumped into Connor and the two of them spoke about why Connor had left and they both found out that they had feelings for one another so they went on a few dates and then they decided to give their relationship a go and began officially dating.
Jay was happy for his brother and it helped that he already knew Connor so Jay knew that he could trust the man.
Will's phone goes off and Will puts his pizza down and he takes his phone out of his pocket and he sees that it's his boyfriend calling.
Will gets up from the table he and Jay are sitting at and he tells Jay he will be back in a few minutes.
Jay nods and he knows that Will just wants some privacy.
Will walks a way but not too far and he answers the call and he smiles when he hears Connor's voice.
Connor was unable to make it as Connor had only recently gotten a promotion so he had to stay at the hospital they both worked at but everyone understood and Will was there representing them both.
Jay looks around and he sees that some people are starting to leave and they have just abandoned their food and Jay thinks that's weird but he ignores it as some of them could be late for something as most of them start to get their cell phones out.
Jay hears Will laughing and it brings a smile to his face.
More people are leaving and they all seem to have panicked looks on their faces.
Jay stops someone and he asks what's going on and the person just runs away.
Jay turns to look to where Will is but he sees a ship coming and it looks like it's not slowing down.
“WILL GET THE HELL OUT OF THE WAY” Jay shouts out.
Will looks towards Jay and before he knows it he is suddenly thrown backwards.
The ship crashes into the Pier and everyone is running around panicking.
“WILL.” Jay shouts out.
Jay hears complete silence and that scares him.
Jay goes rushing and he sees that half the Pier has collapsed.
Jay pulls out his phone and he dials 9-1-1.
“9-1-1 What's Your Emergency?.” A dispatcher asks.
“Send firefighters and paramedics to the Pier as a ship has just crashed into it and we have multiple people hurt and people needing to be rescued.” Jay says.
“Sir, how many people?.” The dispatcher asks.
“40, 50 maybe I don't know but it's a lot of people.” Jay says.
“Ok I'm sending help.” The dispatcher says.
Jay feels completely helpless and he watches what's happening he fails to notice that the funnel is beginning to crack.
Jay sees someone trying to escape the rubble and he runs to them but before he can take one step closer the Funnel falls on Jay.
“Sir, can you still hear me?.” The dispatcher asks.
The dispatcher hasn't heard anything and it stays that way for at least 5 minutes.
The dispatcher assigns the call to the firehouse that is the closest and they hope that the person they were talking to survives.
The CFD arrives on scene as well as paramedics and they start to get to work.
One the firefighters are searching to see if they can get people who are trapped underneath the rubble out when they see an arm poking out.
They bend down and feel for a pulse and to their surprise they find one.
“We have a victim who's alive here.” The firefighter shouts out.
Three more firefighters and 2 paramedics come running over and they all work to get the victim out.
Once they have the victim free that's when the paramedics take over.
The lead paramedic sees a man with ginger hair, pale skin and brown eyes.
“Sir, can you hear me? Can you tell me your name?.” The paramedic asks.
Will tries to speak but he is having trouble and it's like his mind has gone blank.
“J-J-Jay.” Will says.
“Ok Jay we are going to help you.” The second paramedic says.
Just then Will goes into cardiac arrest and his eyes closed.
