Marian was a calculating woman. Calm, educated, and cold. Taking her cousin Elizabeth's place to become Lady Beckett was not a difficult decision. Marian, or Ann as she preferred, understood that it was the correct political move for her, for her uncle, and perhaps even for a certain pirate whose name she neither knew nor cared to know. Their brief affair in Singapore had been quite enough.
