The Consequences of Quirkless Discrimination

Summary:

No one saw how Midoryia changed.

his posture loosened, his head tilted to the left a bit, from his profile you could see nervous expression fall away, and his eyes take a bit of a sadistic light.

a shiver went down Hitoshi's spine as he blankly stared at the... sunshine boy?

or; class 2a are talking about middle school experiences and Izuku decides to teach everyone what happens when you're quirkist.

Notes:

Work Text:

Hitoshi hated homeroom.

not cause it was bad or anything, the class was just usually the most talkative one, aka the one where the resident piece of pure sunshine would try to talk to him.

and again not that Hitoshi hated Midoryia, he did in fact find him quite attractive, but homeroom was the first class of the day and it was too fucking early.

" Shinsou!"

Hitoshi lifted his head from his desk, his eyes focusing on the head of green curls.

"Yes?" his voice was thick from drowsiness as he spoke.

the greenette stiffened momentarily before the nervous smile fell back in place. "I was just wondering if you had notes for English?"

Hitoshi snorted, "yeah that's gonna be a no, you should know that's my nap period." it was in fact his nap period, Pops would act like he didn't see him sleeping.

Midoryia's smile grew a bit softer, "yo-"

"In your seats." the tired voice Aizawa cut the conversation off, Midoryia straightened before the taking his seat in front of Hitoshi. "Today you will be talking about your middle school experiences because I don't feel like doing shit today." and promptly crawled into his yellow sleeping bag and rolled to the corner.

well that's dad for you, Hitoshi thought dryly before his eyes caught onto something strange.

But no one else saw, no one but Hitoshi.

No one saw how Midoryia changed.

his posture loosened, his head tilted to the left a bit, from his profile you could see nervous expression fall away, and his eyes take a bit of a sadistic light.

a shiver went down Hitoshi's spine as he blankly stared at the... sunshine boy?

"Figure order out yourself." was the last thing Aizawa said before Ilda stood up.

"Let us all go in an orderly fashion! we will go by row!"

honestly Hitoshi was just staring at the green haired boy tuning out stupid stories.

what the fuck happened?

and why the fuck was it kinda hot?

after it finally got to Midoryia's turn whispers broke out.

"I wonder what he was like!"

"I bet he was a teacher's pet!"

"whatever it is, it'll be super manly."

"he must've sparkled everywhere he went!"

Midoryia walked to the podium, clearing his throat.

everyone leaned forward in anticipation, he was known as class 2a's resident cinnamon roll, everyone was curious what type of experiences made a person like that, was he sheltered? was his curiosity satiated? did he always mutter and sweat nervously? or was that something that came later?

well none-the-less everyone was interested.

"My school was shitty as fuck."

Izuku looked at the class, most of which were frozen in, most likely shock.

this will be fun.

in all honesty, he'd been pissed at the group for a while.

ever since the subject of quirkless came up.

a news report about a quirkless person who had killed themself, and everyone, everyone acted like it was their fault, or that it wasn't a big deal that someone was driven to taking their own life.

well everyone except Shinsou, Todoroki, Uraraka, Tsu(who hadn't been present), and Jirou.

a smile spread across Izuku's face as he took in his classmates, "How about we learn the consequences of quirkless discrimination."

oh and if the class weren't surprised before, they certainly were then.

"What?" Kirishima's voice was the first to break the silence, then came the clamor of everyone elses.

"What do you mean?"

"you're not quirkless????"

"what are you talking about?"

"shut up." Izuku brought up a hand before bringing it down to fold atop the other ones'. "while I explain this I expect you to stay quiet because, well, from what I can tell you all need a lesson on what quirkless people really go through."

Izuku waited moment as they quieted down.

"Ok great! now let's start from the beginning, not exactly middle school but close enough." his grin took a sharper edge. "imagine it, a 4 year old, all the little boy can think of is becoming a hero!"

he clapped his hands together and tilted his head." but oh no! a shady as fuck doctor says, 'ha you have an extra toe joint, you're quirkless! so hey try not kill yourself before 15 and you'll be fine!'" his voice faltered a bit at the end before it surged back with confidence.

"and guess what! the delusional little shit still thinks he can be a hero!" he snarled placing his hands, almost gently, on to the podium.

the classroom was tense that was for sure, especially Kacchan, he looked downright terrified, if he wasn't so pissed Izuku would laugh.

"But well it was inevitable that his parents would find out, his school, his teachers, his neighbors, his childhood friend." Izuku analyzed the group.

Ilda looked uncomfortable, Uraraka was confused, Todoroki seemed to be coming to an understanding, Shinsou (his hot ass) looked interested, and well Izuku already knew what Kacchan looked like.

"so at the age of 4 his mother walked him to the local stores and made sure everyone knew that her son was quirkless, make sure they wouldn't interact with him, because uh-oh can't let anyone get his failed genes!" Izuku formed his mouth into an 'oh' and brought a hand to his lips. "and of course her mother had to vent to her best friend because, well the father ran off, who'd want a quirkless runt as a son?" his arm hung at his side.

"His teachers made sure to let everyone know that he was quirkless, and was too fragile to rough house around."

he narrowed his eyes at Kacchan. "so of course that meant he was ignored, but well... that doesn't last long now does it."

"Midoryia I think this is enou-"

"Really Ilda? I haven't even gotten to the bad part! you know the parts with child abuse and bullying!" Izuku's smile fell away as he stared at the stiff boy with big owlish eyes.

yeah that shut him up pretty quickly, "now I get that this is sudden, but I've heard the comments you have all made about quirkless, how their... hmmm what was that word you used?" he faked thinking for a second before making an 'ah-hah!' face, "underdeveloped!"

the class stiffened as a whole, "oh and how they are genetically worse off and more fragile!" his grin widened as he clapped his hands, "you have no idea how pissed I was after that!"

he looked over the group once more before continuing, "but of course I'm getting off track, you're here to learn what happens when you discriminate, not to be lectured." he gave a humorless laugh. "where were we again, oh right!"

"well the little boy was ignored for a while, no one dared touch him because well, wouldn't want to get infected with... quirklessness-" he shout whispered the last part. "but there was one boy who was brave enough to touch him after a while."

Kacchan paled, which Izuku took a bit of a sadistic glee in.

he was right, this was fun, thankfully Aizawa-sensei was letting him do this! Izuku thought he would've stopped him by that time.

"his childhood best friend." confusion colored his classmates.

"of course it only started with mean words... mean names." he wasn't even hiding the fact he was looking straight at Bakugo.

"being called worthless every day does shit to people you know," Izuku turned his attention back to the class. "soon everyone joined the little boy's best friend."

"now well things got a worse in middle school of course," he smiled tilting his head. " by that point people had started using their quirks on him, so well the amount of scars on his body is a whole fucking lot!

"even the teachers were in on it! they called him mean names, gave him detention for writing death threats on his own desk, and some even tried to touch him! because well a quirkless deku can't do shit to protect himself!" oh the horrified silence was perfect, time to seal the deal, "but of course he had experience with that! his mother had been selling his body since he was 8!" his smile faltered again, "if he was quirkless all he would be good for was being a slut!"

"it was constant misery, it only got worse when they found out he was gay," he paused for a moment clenching and unclenching his fists, "it's hard to clean paint off of your doors, especially when it's telling you 'Nobody want's a quirkless faggot.'"

he looked back up with a bitter smirk, "but none the less, he still wanted to be a fucking hero, the delusional kid."

"he made a promise to himself," he squared his shoulders, looking at his shaking fingers, "if he didn't become the first quirkless hero, he would kill himself."

"he had thought about it a lot, still does, he keeps pills in his room and looks at them every night wondering if he should just end it, he carries a rope with him, sometimes he thinks about slitting his wrists and bleeding out, maybe hop of a roof." tears plipped onto his shaking fingers.

"but it was okay, because he would be the first quirkless hero," anger filled his voice, his trembling turned violent, clenching his fingers into fists.

"and then on the day of the fucking entrance exam he gets a quirk, fuck if he didn't hate himself before, he certainly did then, he broke his promise." he couldn't look at the class, his gaze stayed trained on his feet. " but he decided that he wouldn't end it, even if he hated himself every time he used his quirk he would become a hero,

"because if he could save people who wanted live, then it was okay if he was suffering ."

"fucking damn it, it was so hard, I just wanted to be okay..." a sob hiccupped from the back of his throat as he rubbed at his eyes.

he told himself he wouldn't cry, he can't look weak.

contrary to popular belief, he hated crying in front of other people, but he found it so difficult not to, he tried so many times to stamp out his feelings, but every time they came back with a vengeance.

stuff it down, break down later.

he slowed his breathing before looking to the class, with steely eyes, "now who wants to look me in the face and tell me I'm genetically underdeveloped?"

"Midoryia, we need to talk." Aizawa-sensei's voice came from behind him, he turned to look at me.

"okay... thank you for letting me tell my piece." he glanced at the class once before walking out of the class.

maybe now they'll think twice before saying bullshit like that.
