His smile could light up the world, his pearly white teeth contained within those beautiful pink lips. Snow fell down on his perfect hair, in weather like this it was curlier than normal with splits of water throughout it. Bruce couldn’t help but look back and forth between his blue eyes and his lips. “You ready to head inside and warm up?” He didn’t realize how cold his cheeks were until Clark broke him out of that trance.
“Y-Yeah Kent, let’s go.” They both headed inside, hanging up their coats by the door and taking their boots off. Bruce’s iced breath subsided soon after as he went to the wood burn stove and rubbed his hand together bringing them close to its flame. Clark went into the living room, petting Krypto on his way to the couch as he grabbed something from it and headed back to Bruce with it. Bruce felt something soft surround his shoulders as he shook his hands to get the overwhelm off of him.
“I’m sorry it’s not weighted like your one upstairs but it’s a little warmer.” Clark leaned up against the wall with his arms crossed as he looked at Bruce. “You know if you’re trying to sweeten me up you’re doing a good job at it.” He shot a smile at Clark, who reciprocated right back at him. “Well maybe I am Mr. Wayne.” He headed towards the kitchen but shouted back at Bruce. “Do you want popcorn? I was thinking ‘A Muppet Family Christmas’. It’s been a tradition since I was a kid.” Bruce nodded along. “Where are the Kent's anyway? I haven't seen them since I've gotten here.” Clark smiled. “They said something along the lines of how Pa owed Ma a vacation for a long time but to be real with you I think they were just trying to get us two alone since I told them about my cru-” He stops himself as he turned away from Bruce using the excuse of grabbing popcorn from the cupboard. “Since I told them how we don't get to hang out together.”
They both sat there as Fozzie Bear and a Snowman sang a duet, a popcorn bucket between them. Bruce made sure to time his grabs to make sure that both of their hands didn’t touch together. “Are you ok Bruce? I can feel your heart racing. Are you overwhelmed? Do you need to have some time alone or to stim?” Bruce froze and just stared at the tv. “Yes. Yes. No.”
“You don’t have to give me an answer now but your heart is pounding, is it me? I can leave.” He started to get up to leave but Bruce stopped him by holding his hand. “No, please stay. I like this.” Clark nodded his head and sat back down. They stayed quiet for the next few minutes with Clark’s hand in his. “Can I get closer? Maybe lay down for a bit to help with my head.” Clark shined a smile at him once again as he broke his hand away from Bruce’s, much to his dismay, as Clark grabbed the popcorn with his right hand and took his blanket off his lap, gesturing for Bruce to lay down.
Bruce gulped before taking a second to accept the offer. He didn’t care that Christmas was tomorrow or that he wouldn’t be able to see his kids open presents in front of the Christmas tree because they were all doing their own things alone. Or even the fact that his heart was racing and how it was slowly calming down as he laid there in Clark’s lap. After a few more minutes Clark put the popcorn on the coffee table in front of them and held one of Bruce’s hands, rubbing his thumb on the back of his hand. “Can I run my fingers through your hair, B?” Bruce couldn’t look at him as tried to steady his breathing. “Yes, I would like that a lot.”
Clark started rummaging through Bruce’s hair, fingers fluttering back and forth at first and soon after in a circle over and over again. Bruce felt the most calm he’s felt in a while. The whole world faded away and it was just Clark and Bruce laying there embracing each other. They didn’t have to say anything, they didn’t have to do anything besides just be there for each other. Whether they were on the battlefield or just getting a coffee together Clark only needed Bruce and Bruce only needed Clark. He felt his eyes get heavier and heavier until he could no longer see Kermit and all of his friends, he could only see darkness.
He’s not sure how much longer after he fell asleep it was but he does know that eventually he was carried as he saw through groggy eyes, barely able to open them. He was held tightly in Clark’s arms as he cradled him. He faintly heard the knob of a door open as he was soon brought into a room, Clark’s room. He had brought Clark into his room once or twice to help him after a mishap with Kryptonite and recover properly but this felt different. Clark put him down against the soft sheets and let him rest there for a second before he went into the closet nearby and got something out for him. As he placed it Bruce knew exactly what it was, it was a weighted blanket just for him. He couldn’t help but smile, his eyes becoming too heavy he fell asleep once again in Kent’s bed.
He was only supposed to help keep Clark company as all of their kids were off doing stuff for Christmas Eve and he more than anyone knew how it was being lonely during the holiday. Little did he know it would end like this.
The night went and the morning drew in but he didn’t see it through the blinds, Clark must’ve gotten black out curtains between visits but, “why would the man powered by the sun get something to specifically block it out?” Bruce thought. He tried to shrug off that thought when he sat up and realized that someone was in the room with him, laying in the bed with shuttered breathing. He turned around to see Clark dangerously close to him. He forced himself back to bed the best he could as his cheeks flushed red just like the cape of the man next to him.
How much time between Bruce seeing Clark and the now hollow frame of where he had laid down either he didn’t know but the spot was still warm. The smell of bacon and eggs filled the home as the distant sounds of cooking were happening downstairs. Bruce brought himself up out of the bed and wrapped the blanket around himself as he made his way down to the kitchen. Clark stood there moving the eggs around in the skillet and humming as he wore an apron. Bruce’s first thoughts were how cute Clark’s bedhead looked on him as he looked at the back of him. Clark turned around, almost jumping as he saw Bruce standing there silently with a cape of a blanket reminding him of how he looked during their “work” hours.
“Oh hey Bruce, you almost gave me a heart attack.” Bruce had made his heart race in other ways but this was just one of his more on brand versions of doing it. How a man with no powers could get a leg up on someone with super hearing Clark would never know. “I made some bacon and eggs, if either don’t sound good just let me know what i can do.” Bruce nodded once and took his seat nearby. Clark was glad that the other man couldn’t hear his own heartbeat as he looked fondly at Bruce glaring at the bacon trying to decide which was the best suited for him first. “They don’t bite, I promise.” Clark joked which made Bruce turn his glare toward him. “I’m joking, I’m joking.” He said in reply to the deadly glance at him as he made his way back into the kitchen to finish the eggs.
He had finished deciding which ones were gonna be his as he took the ones he wanted. Clark had made his way back to the table with eggs. “Bon Appétit.” he said, giving him his plate as they started Breakfast together.
