Chapter 1: To rip the soul from its shell

Chapter Text

"Thought it would hurt more."

"Pity."

Any sensation she felt faded away as the last gunshot rang out through the room. Darkness enveloped her and she almost felt as if she was floating.

The nothingness surrounded her.

She was aware of being watched. Not like it mattered anymore. She wasn't sure who or what it was and she didn't care. She failed after all,

after all she had done.

Something changed. Like her silent observer came to a sudden realisation. And it wasn't silent anymore.

This cannot be it

You're not finished

You don't want it to end here

She laughed bitterly. Truth cannot change what's already done.

But what if it could.

What if it can.

What if…

Do you want to go back?

"Sure, and what would be the price for it? It's not like I have anything left to give." She whispered at the end. She really had nothing. She sacrificed her soul long ago when she bound herself to this fate. Now she doesn't even have her body. The rot probably already claimed it.

Than maybe instead of giving something, you could do something in exchange.

Do something for us.

"Like start the apocalypse." her voice filed with even more bitterness " Not sorry to say this but I'm the worst person you could ask this. Obviously my answer is NO."

What about stopping it?

You have quite an experience with that.

That shouldn't be a problem.

That she didn't expect. It was the direct opposite of what she thought. "That cannot be it. The price is too low for what you are offering "

You're right, it's not all.

You misunderstood what is offered.

What is gone is gone. You can only change what didn't happen yet.

You need to catalogue fear.

You might not be an Archivist anymore, but there is gonna be another.

He needs your help.

They all will need it.

Protect the archives and everyone bound to them.

Of course it still involves fear. But to be fair, this is probably the best she could hope for. "Anything else?" she sarcastically remarked, not really expecting anything.

Keep Jonah in check.
