“I like you,” Yuuta said, leaning down and making Toge swallow as his lips got closer. “You’re lost among weakness, but I see your potential. I’ve seen it for a while now, and I will appreciate you properly,” he promised, making Toge stand on the tips of his toes to close the distance. “I promise that you won’t have to wait long,” he swore against Toge’s lips.
That should’ve scared Toge to know he’d been watched for some time now by those eager to overthrow his house. It should’ve, yet it didn’t, not when he saw the potential in Yuuta. Power was power, and Yuuta reeked of it, exuded it from every pore on his body, and Toge would’ve been a fool to waste it when it was being offered to him. It was what he’d always wanted, after all. Perhaps the tourney had not been a waste of time like he’d originally thought.
